  • In Aerospace industry machining of major components such as wings, fuselage shells or tailplanes is a real challenge. The Fraunhofer IFAM is working at the CFK NORD research center in Stade on the realization of new and versatile plant designs. With robotic based machining and mobile robotic systems there are promising opportunities for the manufacturing of the future regarding higher productivity, reduction of lead time and decreasement of investment costs. Major enablers for this vision are adaptive automation systems with high accuracy in a continuously changing environment.
