Thanks Seth, hey I remember watching your HB video! Funny you should say that: in this case I briefly messed around with amp line out and plugins and such, but in my experience Dano basses really do sound excellent on their own. Not a sales pitch I swear haha (Been practicing on my rhythm lately so I'm glad it shows)

Thanks! These are nicely built and with lots of unique character tonally. I love how Danos sit in the mix. However I did move this one along because I don't really like chunky necks, and this neck felt substantial even for a short scale. They're certainly worth a try!

Hi i wanted a longhorn , but i like the look of the Danelectro Shorthorn DC59 bass better. Ive only seen reviews on the longscale version of it, not of the shortscale one. Do you know if it sounds the same as this one? Or the same as the longhorn? I read that the longhorn has JJ lipstick pickups and DC has SS lipstick pickups.
Never heard about SS pickups so im totally confused

I would guess that they all sound similar, though the 56's pickups go straight across while the others' are positioned at an angle. The Shorthorn also has individual volume and tone knobs for each pickup. The Longhorns have the rosewood bridge saddle, which does appear to have a noticeable sound difference. Quality wise I've found these recent Korean Danos to be pretty good
