I’m a recovering people pleaser. I lived most of my life not living authentically-People pleasing was a learned coping mechanism. At age 46, I embarked on recovering from this. Lots of therapy and internal work has led me at age 47 to be living authentically for the first time since I was gosh, probably 13-14, which was when I learned people pleasing as a coping mechanism and was taught it wasn’t ok to be myself and if I wanted to be safe, I needed to do what everyone else wanted me to do or do things I didn’t want to do so people would “love me” or accept me…which never happened no matter how hard I tried. It’s constant everyday work but it is good work and I am happier than I have ever been because I’m finally me. I love me. I am comfortable in my own skin and I live without apology. It’s the epitome of freedom and empowerment. I’m glad you did a video on this. It was just what I was happy to see and is a good reminder of how far I have come in my recovery. ❤
In arabic we say :"لقد أصبت فٍيٌّ الوتر.الحسٌّاس " I am sorry . . .i can't translate. it to english because it has a deep meaning in arabic . . .try google translation . ... . .. .I had the same experience : mieux vaut être seul que mal accompagné . Better be alone than be people pleaser . What a good lesson .

I make a Vlog every month just about my life and what’s going on. It’s for no one except for future me and maybe my kids and husband if they’re interested. This will be a video diary that I will be able to look back decades from now and smile about. Completely private but the most personal thing just for me that I know will bring me joy 🥰
My most authentic self is when I don't explain myself anymore, I just do what is right for me. If I have to have a conversation with someone, I do not water down my delivery. I don't have time to adjust to others insecurities. People take issues with people who are authentic for the very reason that they cannot believe I am REALLY who I always presented as, nothing fake. People can't deal with that. They have to find a reason to find fault with you to justify their own lack of courage in being who they should be. Do I sound cold? I'm never rude, unless provoked and most of the time, I just walk away because I don't want that around me. Maybe but I will always speak my truth, go ahead ask me. Just be prepared because the truth can paralyze you or set you free.

I have always been such a quiet, people pleaser but it's time to start loving myself and stop caring how other people react when they see me and that no one loves me (I have a very intimidating and scary looking face so people treat me like I am weird before they even know me at all).
