Thank you Lisa for discussing this. I’m 55 soon 56 I’m a nurse since 1984. I’ve learned along the way as a woman and a nurse - listen to people. Just because it isn’t in the books we study does not mean that it isn’t a fact. Besides the books was mostly written and researched by men or at least that is true for Clinical learning in the 1980’s. I can recall people complaining of the same symptoms and the doctor brushing them off because it wasn’t written in the book he or she studied 🤨. In my early days I didn’t Take the time to listen either. I wish I could apologize for my early 20’s with clinical Patients.
But anyway thanks for opening up hopefully a conversation among women to share and support each other. Hopefully they can understand more and feel understood and not Made to feel
Crazy. My generation didn’t grow up Listening to other women discussing this And I hope this can help other women.

Sometimes I feel de-feminized when the word “menopause” comes up. I turn 45 next week and I feel sexier now than I did in my 20’s. I feel like men think a woman is “washed up” if she’s in menopause or going through it, and I don’t like that negative connotation attached to the word. We are still feminine, sexy, sexual, loving, etc... It doesn’t define who we are.

    • @MannyWC

Mandi Hixson Agree ! It's like putting a bullseye on women's backs and drawing unnecessary attention to a normal biological stage . When women need to work longer than ever all this 'clarion call ' attention makes younger colleagues, bosses and kids unnaturally aware of a very normal phase in a woman's life . It's not like we shine spotlights and devote endless YT videos to the topic of our daughters starting their menstruation . . I believe the topic needs discussion but every mature age YT is on the bandwagon & seem so self absorbed & obsessed w their own journey ....carry on as if they are the first generation to go thru it . It's becoming quite counterproductive as the image of a woman passing from fertile goddess into the myths of the 'old crone' only become larger than life . All very self indulgent !!

OMG!! Thank you so much for doing this video. I know I started going through menopause around 45. My OB/GYN poo-pooed my suspicions. She said I was too young and we would discuss, when I was closer to 50. I should have ran away and quickly. I suffered for years and am now through the worst of it. Lisa - this has got to be one of my favorite videos you've made. I have watched you for years and you are my favorite RUclips by far. I am 57 and I just completed menopause. I really resonated with your honesty and perspective of the glory of being a woman and the miracle of bringing life into this world. So so true. When I was pregnant with both of my sons, I felt like I was living in grace. I loved every single minute and I felt that way about being a mom too. It was the happiest and most fulfilling times of my life. So back to this video, more than anything I felt like we were besties sitting at the kitchen table chatting about life. You are a wonderful inspiration and your humor is the best salve especially in times like this. You have a beautiful family (animals too!) and it's great to hear how everyone is doing. Bless you and yours. Keep these wonderful videos coming.

I had my first hot flash in a department store when I was 40 and was done menopause at 44. From 42-44 I took HRT but I gained weight and felt like a had a layer of fat and water all over my body. I was so irritable, angry and depressed. Hot flashes and night sweats. The last thing to go is the night sweats. I still get them especially when I drink wine. I also still struggle with getting a good and uninterrupted night’s sleep. What else?? Dry vagina - oh man, not pleasant!! I take Vagifem for that. About balance - I’m now 67 but since I’ve turned 60, I have fallen and sprained my ankle, broken my wrist and my shoulder in three separate falls. I think that’s it. Ha! It’s enough!! Anyone who says menopause is in our heads clearly hasn’t experienced it. Thanks for sharing your journey Lisa ❤️.

I can’t thank you enough from the bottom of my heart for this video. It almost brought me to tears. I’m only 45 and have been having so many strange symptoms coming and going for the last year that I’ve never experienced before. I’ve been going through all the same things with drs as you did. Mainly migraines, sporadic hot flashes, stomach issues and sleep disruptions. I’m healthy, eat well and exercise. And drs always say 45 is too young for menopause or (peri). But that’s what I’ve being chalking it up to. I soooo appreciated you talking about it in such a real way. Did you know that most Drs spend as little as 20 hrs total on menopause in medical school?! And it seems to be such a forbidden negative topic in society. Thank you for bringing it into the light with the sunshine you cast. Please....keep doing more. My mom is not around anymore to talk to about these issues. Thx! 😘

Everything you talk about here I have or currently am experiencing.
My menopause started about 3 years ago. I'm 56.
I have every symptom you mentioned.
The painful joints, IBS-d, weight gain in my middle, chest breaking out, weird sensitivities...etc...
Also something that was happening to me and making me laugh a little was forgetfulness!
I'd forget something someone may have just said to me. I'd get so embarrassed but just try to laugh it off.
It's all been a learning experience for me.
I was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome by a rheumatologist about a year ago. It was determined with a blood test.
That partially explains my joint pain and believe it or not, IBS can also be a symptom as well as other things.
Thank you for addressing all this.
It helps to listen to others experiencing the same things.
Looking forward to your weight loss video!

Hi Lisa, just wanted to say how admirable it is that you have consistently managed to stick to your convictions and genuine love of everything beauty and completely avoided/refused to acknowledge hateful, nonsensical scandals. You and Lisa Eldridge stand out from the rest for obvious reasons, ppl come here for you! I watch you because I share your love of Beauty. You're a sweet soul. I'm really disgusted and disappointed with RUclips and praying the world heals and our youth are given some positive, solid mentors. We need love more than ever. Love each other as I have loved you 🙈🙉🙊

I am 63 and post menopausal. I take bio-identical hormones. I began menopause at age 46, I didn’t know a thing!!! I was having all those issues and more. Anxiety and major panic attacks, never sleeping, feeling like your having a heart attack. Hot flashes, night sweats..etc. still have some of these I had to get on sleeping pills and anxiety meds, I fought them for years but at the time I couldn’t leave my house. I had to do something. Things are better now but I am having that weight issue around my waist, and I work out constantly. Looking forward for your video on that. And yes, you have to go to many doctors that “get”!!

I like how you said menopause for you has nothing to do with age. I agree. I honestly think it has more to do with all the physical symptoms.
Some women go through extreme physical pain. Menopause can actually make you feel like you are losing your mind.

I am 45 and I have noticed the hair thinning pretty significant. My hair was always so thick and curly my whole life. I also, now have, out of nowhere, this weird bladder issue where it’s always uncomfortable and has a burn type feeling but there is no UTI. The MENTAL struggle is real with dealing with the changes of getting older. I hate the word menopause as well because I relate it to negative things. I don’t want to lose my femininity. It means so much to me. I appreciate your video. I am glad I just discovered you. You are lovely.

I love this video! I am 39 and my mom started going through menopause sometime between 40-45 so I am trying to get myself as prepared as I possibly can. She has had a hard time emotionally and I dread that part the most. I am already so clumsy I might need to wear full body pads. Lol! It seems like a lot of women have the same common symptoms that doctors say aren't from menopause. As I am getting older I feel like my PMS symptoms are more and more similar to menopause symptoms. I don't know if that's a thing or not. :)

Just something to consider with joint pain... Collagen type II has been my lifesaver. There are 5 main types of collagen, most focus on skin and hair. Type II is for joints. I had pretty bad pain in my knees and ankles from years of running. I had been training for a half marathon a couple yers ago when it as at it's worst. I started taking a collagen II supplement and here I am 2 years later and pain free. Still running, ran another half marathon a couple months ago... no pain in my joints. It's amazing! I will never be without it...never! I'm so jealous of you right now though, because I just turned 50 and still getting my period every month like clockwork... no end in sight. Ugh! Enough already... both of my older sisters have gone thru menopause. Anyway, I'm ready for it! I recommend watching Menopause Taylor here on you tube. My mom went through it age 42. Fully stopped. I got tested early due to that, but I'm going on 48 and no sign yet, but I know it's not gonna be long now! I got tested because mom, when in her 50s, got diagnosed with full-blown osteoporosis (due to early menopause). She got put on bisphosponates (the big guns) and calcium along with it, and is mid 70s now and she needs to take this for the rest of her life! She keeps scoring quite low levels (it does get better each year, though). Very helpful video, Lisa! If you go through menopause early, you need to keep an eye on your bone density. A bone density test after menopause is a *must* and I know from experience what it can do if left too long (mom shrunk and got a curved back).

Lisa GREAT video! I am 60, 61 in October. I started M at 48ish or so. The mystery thing that was happening to me was I started losing my eyebrow hairs. Initially I thought, oh my goodness my thyroid is off, so I went to doctors had tests, bloodwork, & my thyroid was fine. I said oh could this be a part of menopause because I know people have different symptoms, some people get moody - I didn’t, or they gain a lot of weight; itchy like you mentioned; my hair did start thinning but nothing alarming cuz I was aging, but the fact that my eyebrows completely fell out, I’m like what is going on! Of course NO doctor would admit it was M or explain to me WHY my eyebrows were leaving my face!, My other big thing, once I really got into menopause, was the hot flashes, oh my God those lasted about 2 years, but of course when they first started out they were intense. I was so grateful when I was done with them because it was so embarrassing, you never knew when it was going to hit & just like you described - you could just feel the heat rising from your feet coming up to your head!!! It’s pretty much been smooth sailing these last 8 years or so. I really enjoyed this video, you are so right we as women are so amazing and the whole birth journey of creating life, I mean it’s amazing is absolutely amazing. I look forward to your videos coming up, oh I have lost about 10 pounds I’m feeling good, looking good, been exercising - life is good! We’re all got some good stories!!!! 😂

Strange but I also have had the IBS symptoms and my docs thought I was nuts. I became hypersensitive to dairy that was never an issue for me in my life up until peri menopause or menopause. Hot flashes were my worst symptom. I couldn’t use warm/ hot water in the shower because it would set me off. I would sweat from every pore on my scalp. Sleeping is still a problem even though I’m through menopause. Menopause bothered me because I finally realized my childbearing years were completely over and that was sad for me even if I didn’t want any more children. Thanks for this video. Idk how I missed it until now.

Hi Lisa!!! Most beautiful and lovely lady on RUclips! I’ve been so curious about menopause since I know it will be here before I know it. It’s scary wondering what will happen! I don’t know how you can possibly be almost 50!!! Omg you make 50 look like the new 20!! In a good way!!! ❤️❤️❤️
