I'm an old fashion rock fan but i swear, every party you're attending and this song is played the dancefloor is crowded and I'm one of them. She is very smart, highly professional, absolutely adorable with her fans, has a very good voice and of course is attractive. There is a documentary, unfortunately in german, where she is preparing for a life tour, flying to New York auditing talents, to pick the best dancers for her upcoming shows. She said: If there are so many fans out there spending their hard earned money for my show to get entertained, they deserve to see only the best people on stage. Watch her performance life at he Berlin Olympic Stadium in front of 120,000 fans in the pouring rain. Great to see such an artist nowadays, even if you're not a fan of her music style.
There used to be a quite big population of german speaking people in Russia since a couple of hundred years back, but 90 % of them migrated to Germany after the fall of the Soviet union. They spoke a quite ancient german, since they had been more or less out of contact with Germany for 200 years.
@klio9611 schlager is NOT the same as german pop music. Helene fischer, Beatrice Egli etc are schlager artist. Adel tawil or Marc forster are german pop music. Not comparable 🤷♀️

Sarah is American and for her it is pop. She has open ears and does not follow strict German categories which define "schlager" as the lowest possible level of music which therefore could never be called pop. But pop is not a quality mark, it is simply a sort of music. Just try to hear at that song as If you had never heard it before. The song may not be your cup of tea (it isn't mine either), but you can't deny that this has many features that define "pop".

Udo Jürgens is Austrian and won the ESC in 1969 with this song. Afterwards he had a career in Germany and German-speaking Europe that can only be compared with Frank Sinatra. Nobody had ever dared to do a cover of this song because the lyrics and tone were too difficult. On October 18th, 2014, ZDF TV put on a show for his 80th birthday in which national and international singers covered his songs from 60 years [There is a whole musical with his hits] and Helene dared to do it and received praise from Udo and from all over the world. On December 12th, she invited Udo to record her Christmas show and performed the song again with him on the piano. Udo died suddenly and unexpectedly on December 21st and this was broadcast on December 25th. Since then, Helene has refused to sing the song live again...
