This is the height of human creativity and artistic expression. This is what humanity is capable of doing. Every person on earth should revel in its magnificence.
Absolutely. The pinnacle of human musical endeavour. I believe the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is currently, probably the best on the planet at the time of this recording too. We are in awe of their talent and ability to work together so professionally. I've heard many other groups try to tackle this musical score and just weren't there yet. Don't give up, I say. There's always tomorrow, so to speak.
@@benjamineferko1657 I don't know about that. The New York Symphony Orchestra could probably show them a thing or two, if they did fun stuff like this.

Who actually wrote the music, an Italian? I was surprised to hear one of my favorite pieces, Russian Christmas Music, was written by Alfred Reed, an American! 😂😂
The orchestra obviously, yes. But this was a team effort. Every single cog in the entire machinery excelled! Our country is so much more than HC Andersen, furniture and the Laudrup brothers…

About three years ago I've found these videos from the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and their tribute to Morricone and as soon as they started I remembered all those scenes from the movies like if I'd watched them yesterday! These themes played by these amazing pool of musical talent are my favorite! I don't know if you've done it already, but watch the other two tribute videos with the themes from 'A Fistful of Dollars' and 'For a Few Dollars More', which are the first two movies of the "trilogy". Ecstasy of Gold is from the score for the film the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The film shows the greed and violence of men. Ecstasy of Gold reminds that even though men sin, there is still the possibility of divine redemption.
That's what symphony orchestras the world around do: they unite a huge number of people in perfect synchronicity to produce beautiful pieces of music. The skill, talent, and training it takes is amazing but it shows what humanity is capable of when we actually apply all of our skills and will to improving the world for all of us. Beautiful and inspiring. This is music that touches your soul, triggers emotions, and is timeless. Ennio Morricone wrote scores for several movies both in Italy and the United States. He is world renown and unfortunately he is no longer with us. His music lives on in our hearts, minds, and souls. I saw this movie for the first time on television in 1974, I have loved since that day. Epic movie and Epic music. Thank you for this video. I am glad to see that even 55 years after the movie was released people still watch it and love it as much as they did when it first came out.
I have heard many symphony orchestras do movie themes, but this was a masterpiece. Everything was balanced. No one instrument overrode the others, or the vocals. Morricone wrote a fantastic piece, but DNSO brought it to life. I was impressed with them when I listened to them with Gary Brooker performing The Whiter Shade of Pale. I have since watched many of their performances in the last couple of years, and have yet to be disappointed.
I agree! The greatest Western of all time, IMO, and the spectacular musical score played a significant role in making it the greatest. I really enjoyed your reaction and commentary. I also appreciated the fact that you didn't interrupt it every minute like others tend to do.
The mix of guitar, chanting, whistles and glockenspiel is beyond innovative (and the rest of the orchestra setting down the horse ride rythm). I love this.
The tickets to their second sci-fi themed concert, "Galaxymphony Strikes Back", back in August this year were worth every single øre, and I would love to experience it again.
They are so much fun! They also perform the music from Fist Full of Dollars, For a few Dollars More, Star Wars, the Godfather, Game of Thrones, Narnia, James Bond, , Star Wars….. All wonderful!
3:50 -- This is the music we hear when Tuco (Eli Wallach) is running through the cemetery looking for the grave with the money buried in it. It's called "Ecstasy of Gold." I think the passage at 5:40 is exquisite. I enjoyed your reaction to this very much.
