She, judith Durham, was one of the best female voices of the 60's!
A pure voice.
Of all time, in my opinion.
@@wmden1 You may very well be right!
Best voices period.!! ❤❤
@@wmden1 I've always waffled, Judith or Karen Carpenter? But Karen left us far too soon and Judith was still singing, still brilliant at 71 with the Seekers farewell tour finale with "I Am Australian" when she had to use a still to rest against and still broke hearts with her voice.
No auto tune, no electric guitars, and a stand up bass. Only real, actual talent!
I’d rather listen to a not so perfect singer, not meaning them lol, giving a heartfelt performance than listen to a below average singer with auto tune. Auto tune and certain technologies are going to destroy our culture. It’s a shame.
Rest in peace judith durham such a beautiful voice and lady.
You beat me to it.
How many people know that this song was written by Dusty Springfield's brother Tom?
you can see him in the very beginning of this promotional film!
He also wrote "A World of Our Own", for them, if memory serves.
This is a old Vietnam era song, went I was young . it's brings back memories, and tears.
This was pre Vietnam.
Always loved this song.
Songs of my childhood. One of my favorite songs of all time. 💕
The sound of Australia!
I love every song by the seekers
We all had a crush on Judith. Little lady with a huge voice for the ages. They sold millions of records.
This song knocked the Beatles off the #1 spot.
Beautiful folk song!! 😅
You can't find music like this anymore, The Seekers have such a wonderful sound.
This was a TV special the Seekers did. Here they recreate the recording session they did for this song in London England in Abbey Road Studios, for the TV show, the same place the Beatles did almost all of their recording for EMI Parlophone Records [in the USA Capital Records]. this is not the actual recording session, they lip sync and play along with their recording. They are from Australia. The late Judith Durham, lead singer, had such beautiful an instantly recognizable voice. If anew Seekers came on the radio unannounced, you would recognize her voice instantly. She could also play piano. She passed away August 5, 2022 (age 79 years). Probably the best female folk singer voice in the world, and the Seekers as group were among the the top five folk groups in the world IMO. Fabulous sound!!!!
Hi Sarah! Thanks SO much for reacting to my favourite group while I was growing up! My world fell apart on 5th August, 2022! The day my beautiful Judith passed away! R.I.P. Judith Durham! Peace and Blessings to you from Australia.
I sang this song to my wife on our wedding day. I love the Seekers. Sadly, Judith Durham passed away a couple of years ago.
As uplifting and catchy as this song is, it’s no more so than how uplifting and heartfelt is each and every reaction you provide. Beautiful lady, you are an absolute gem!
A great song of the 60s, like this one and so many others, have life-meaningful lyrics that can never be forgotten.
Even when you've heard the words only once, you'll catch yourself if not repeated perfectly.
Amazing.
One of the best exports from down-under; Judith w/ her phenomenal voice & the musical talent of Athol, Bruce & Keith - they've truly stood the test of time.
Listen to The Seekers early & often.
No dancing no light show no twerking. Just great musicians and vocals.
Beautiful song! The Seekers were another great Australian folk pop band from the 60's. Judith Durham had such a beautiful voice. She just passed away recently. They had so many great hits including "Georgy Girl", "The Carnival Is Over", "A World Of Our Own", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day" etc. They have beautiful voices & harmonies. They don't make nostalgic music like this anymore. Reminds me of a simpler time.
Lord I'm 1
Lord I'm 2
Lord I'm 3 Lord I'm 4
Lord I'm I'm 500 miles away from you.
And not a Proclaimer in sight !
For some reason that song touches a very deep
chord inside, it has a clarity that dives beneath
the psyche, it has a golden sound.
A great Australian group with a lot of great songs including "Georgy Girl" and "Morningtown Ride".
@@JulieS261 For recommendations, I'd pick especially the others by Tom Springfield, including Georgie Girl and The Other Side
Tears pouring hearing Judith's beautiful voice again. Simply perfect.
Judith Durham had perfect pitch and bell like clarity when she sang. Who needs autotune when you have that?
My late wife's favourite songs, made me cry but in a good way.
Without reading the comments, I already know somebody has mentioned Georgy Girl. If they haven't, they will. That's one of my favorites. I love this song too, and it's a joyful thing to see that it makes you happy. Post-birthday comment: I hope your day was amazing! I told you that I would visit my cousin, Ellen, and that we'd raise a glass to you. We did do that yesterday, and she was delighted to wish you a happy birthday, too. I'm passing that along so you'll know. Anyway, the coming year is yours for the taking. You've got a way about you, Sarah, and the people know your heart is right. You've got this! 🎉 🎈🥳
Happy birthday my birthday is on the 10th of July I'll be 75 and I'm a cancer also! The best advice I can give you is don't stop doing what you want to do! Do not say I can do that tomorrow do it today or you may regret it for the rest of your life enjoy your life while you can because we don't know how long that life might be
July 12 here! Happy BD coming up Georgie Girl😁.
The Seekers earned their passage from Australia the UK by performing on the ocean liner.
Yeah these guys were awesome. I remember when this came out (64 or 65 I think) I must have worn out the 45 RPM record. Judith Durham RIP. What a large voice in such a tiny lady. Just amazing. Thanks Sarah..
Beautiful.The magnificent Judy Durham..RIP .😢😢
Incredibly pretty music. Great vocals, romantic message and pure emotion.
Loved her voice one of the best
people, that was pure magic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Judith Durham is a legend.
I think her name was Judith Dunham, however , a wonderful voice.

*Durham 😁
A classic decade full of great singles, performances and memories, and this was one of them. Wonderful.
I`ve liked this song since the first time I heard it back when it first played on American radio ! I was just a puppy at the time , but still knew good when I heard it !
Its hard to contemplate that the Seekers went to Britain as an unknown group originally for 10 weeks, singing on a shp in exchange for their passage. Tm and Dusty Springfield were in the UK at the time and Tom liked their sound and wrote the song. The BBC did not play unknown performers so it was only because of offshore radio stations, particularly Radio Caroline. The group was surprised to hear they had reached number one on the British charts. It often amzes me how beautiful Judiths voice was because she had a life long lung condition following childhood measles.
Listen to all "The Seekers" you can find. It will lift your soul to heights unimaginable!
I watched the Seekers sing this at the Royal Albert Hall in London several years ago. They sang all their other songs, but that one is my favourite. Sadly Judith passed away a few years ago.
I love this song.
It'll be my earworm for the rest of the day, and I'm really happy about it!
The Seekers were a simply wonderful group.Judiths' voice was amasingly pure. All this with no electronic trickery, mostly due to the fact it hadn't been invented yet. Track down more of their music......it doesn't disappoint.
harmonies really heal a soul
Nice reaction Ms.Sarah....... anytime I listen to this song it makes me smile inside and to see someone else really appreciate it makes it even better
I grew up with this music. Judith Durham had an amazing, unforgettable voice. After the Seekers broke up, she moved to Paris, and did the jazz café scene there. She also did a superb cover of "If you go away", the Jacques Brel song.
Check out the beautiful Judith singing 'Oh Danny Boy', solo, & acapella!
It's perfect!
the carnival is over five hundred miles danny boy skyline pigeon this is my song judith top 5 greatest female pop folk singers of all time
Wow! Haven't heard them in so long. We had music.
I loved your reaction to this beautiful oldie but goodie 🙂
I know your birthday is around the corner (forward or back) so happy birthday. Don't worry about being 30; you're young and beautiful and have your whole life ahead of you!
I was just a kid when this came out and I loved it!
I'm glad you recognized Judith Durham's talent. She was a force. Millions of guys my age fell in love with her when this song came out.
Wonderful emotional song.
Thank you Sarah!
I always think this could be a prayer to Christ, to God, and it makes me emotional and teary eyed.
I grew up on Rock and Punk Music in the eighties and have progressed to Rockabilly and Psychobilly and Metal. No genre could be further from me. But I've long said Judith Durham has THE most pure female voice i've ever heard. It literally gives me goosebumps listening to her !
"A World of Our Own" and "The Carnival is Over", the last one being in my Top Ten Most Beautiful and Saddest Love Songs of all time.
what a voice!!
Lovely reactions.
It doesn’t matter anymore is another of their great songd
Judith's strong, folky vocals!
This was my mother’s favourite song. Always brings a tear when I hear it.
This is the Music of my Teenage Years.
This song touch me very deep.
If you like this song, as I do, you’ll love the Mama’s & the Papa’s; California Dreaming!
It’s like a new discovery in Powerful Voices, deep and beautiful.
I like the Seekers too, and I’m 68 yrs old. Go figure! lol 😂
It's only been over half a century since I heard this one! Boomer delight!
So many wonderful songs from them!! Check out The Carnival is Over, We are Australian (final live version), Emerald City, more! ❤️❤️
So glad you found this song and loved it. I still listen to 60's and 70's music. I came of age in the early 70's and find modern music mostly depressing and shallow.
Try the Mama's and the Papa's and Pete Seeger for similar music
RIP Judith, Aussie singing legend.
Georgie girl. She had an amazing voice.
Good choice young lady.
I love The Seekers. RIP Judith Durham. If you like this song, you should also check out their song Georgy Girl.
I've bought all vinyl discs of theSeekers, in spite of my short money
From Melbourne Australia.
Try liostening to Gale Garnet's "We'll Sing in the Sunshine:
Sad she has passed away great singer
💓
Try "A World of Our Own". So utterly of the early-mid 60s. Cornering the mostly white folk and pop market no insult intended, just an observation with the juxtaposition of the growing soul and Motown sound. A smorgasbord (sic) of styles at the time. You didn't get bored that's for sure.
I love Judith Durham. Sadly died last year.
"No auto tune" means, "Singing and re-singing, then dubbing and overdubs." The video used of this performance may be a live recording but the singing and instruments used in the audio track is NOT is re-recorded, dubbed and overdrubbed. The talent of the recording engineers is critical in this era of audio recording - echo/timing effects, multiple microphones, each with their own particular sensitivity, are the meat-and-potato tools of that era's recording engineers.
Please check out In the Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics of you havent yet. And Slade - My Oh My. ❤❤
🧡🧡 Judith 🧡🧡
Judith Durham and Karen Carpenter had the most fantastic voices in popular music back then and you would be hard pressed to find someone who could come close to them even today. Floor Jansen is the only one who comes to mind and even she does not have that incredible warmth the other two have.
Just look in the barn
Great song, great group. Pure talent. No theatrics. Judith Durham had a beautiful voice. You don't hear anything even close to this now days. Sad.
Try their GEORGY GIRL.
We had a Seekers song book in 1970 (NZ), we'd sing from it on car trips and Sunday drives. Judith's voice and their harmonies was etched in our memories.
It was sad day when she decided to retire, she was irreplaceable.
Have you done a review of Amy Winehouse?
Studio looks like Abbey Road
You mean you didn't realize that up Until about twenty years ago people had to have talent in order to make music
Judith Durham = there will never be another.
She was the world best singer!
The reason for the appalling drought in the quality of song writing today is because folk music, blues, original country and gospel have fallen by the wayside. Music today has no soul.
😂😂😂 says every granpa since the beginning of music
Why do people who can actually sing need Autotune?😮
Autotune has only existed since 1996. Every song you have heard that was made before then had none. Every song since has been manipulated.
‘Modern’ music is crap compared to the music that came in the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s.
Judith durham was one of the worlds greatest EVER singers, her voice was so powerful its astounding and a beauty to behold, there arent many like her, brenda lee, luciano pavarotti, but, she should have had for more recognition....the strength of her vocal chords is wondrous.
There were no auto-tune or voice modulators back them. back then people had real talent, unlike today anyone can make a song but they can't do live concerts, they can only do studio albums. not live.
only created effect was a bit of echo.......
