Fightland traveled to New Mexico to find out what their secret is.

I like these fightland documentaries but the cut scene fillers bug the hell out of me.

I DONT LIKE THIS WEIRD MIND CONTROL SHIT YOURE TRYING TO PULL WITH ALL THE STRANGE IMAGES AT THE BEGINNING
6:22 She has no idea what is going to happen to her in two years
Exactly! Just watched this for the first time today and knew Jones and Holly trained together but was still surprised to she her here. If only she knew then that she'd shortly become one of the biggest names in sports and pop culture.
Mcgregor just got estimated 17 million for 13 senconds.
Akshay Rama right...world champion. And dominated. Greg is a bad ass coach. No bullshit w him
what happen??
crazy to see Holly Holm grinding years before she became champion
+JOhn Anderson lmao yeah, still crazy tho. you have to give her all the credit in the world for beating Rousey in such perfect fashion, love both of them
That's a stupid statement. She was the best female boxer in the world for years, before mma. It's not like she was a nobody, before MMA
Fr
Fender Tremolo Facts
Ahhh..... Back when a Travis Brown had a future.
Levi Cathcart back when travis browne has footwork and technique
before lord and savior edmond showed up
back when Edmund tarverdyan was only ruining hondas
why Travis leave this gym?
Going to train with that idiot coach of Rousey's was a huge problem. That guy is an absolute fool. Tarvedyan or something? I don't remember, but I know he is absolutely clueless.
Gives Diego Brandao a gun.....good fucking idea....lmao
I love MMA. I don't do it for a hobby . This is what I love to do. The different kinds of fighting just interests me so much. Im thinking of moving over there to train and stay there once I get a couple of wins under my record.
+Eschaton 2000 aw man that's tough glad your sticking wit it though. Good things happen wit hard work and dedication . Maybe we'll train together one day
+Eddie Kasady thanks my man
Stick with it brother
MrUzzynator good looking out brother
CanOfPeas nah he quit a while ago
It would be an honor to train in this gym. Only got 3 amateur fights though. Very new. Top fighters in the world is in that gym. Amazing
What's your record?
+Kevin Durant 0-3 I bet
+Robin MX 3-1. Now Hahahaha.
They accept ammys in there too. Apply
You can still go
Needs more Carlos Condit
Im starting to think he goes and hides in the bathroom or something because he whenever the cameras show up he’s never around
LOVE this series. Keep up the good work Vice!
These documentaries from Fightland are some of the best martial arts productions out there. My dream is to work for Fightland.
Holm went to this gym? She's fighting ROUSEY this weekend! Mind blown.
And guess what happened?
She GOES and trains at that gym. Lol
I'm boxing - artem lobov she destroy Ronda
Greg Jackson is the Bill Belichick of mma. With Winkeljohn they are behind the success the best game plans and evolution of fighters like GSP into the best wrestler in the division with no amateur background. Also look at how he developed guys like Kieth Jardine to compete with top fighters.
Too bad for Travis, he left Greg and Wink
Love. More place like this need to exist. All the indoor basketball gyms are no longer available here where I live. I don't know where to go to blow off steam.
its called cauliflower ear, its where if you get punched hard/ or repeatedly to the ear enough it forms a blood clot, and it puffs up like that.
Hunter Tucker is now 32 with a pro record of 7-3. His last fight being in 2016.
I'm really impressed by Fightland. Gone are the days of finding martial arts books in the library and getting the latest copy of Blackbelt, Blitz or Hiden. Kid's gotta be inspired by this.
Good to see jj spending his time in New Mexico getting enriching sparring done
I actually enjoy these little trippy ass clips in between
Inspirational to say the least. Wonderful video once again
this gym seems to have a great vibe to it they got some great fighters inc holly holm great win she over ronda
Thanks vice for sharing!
I live right where they filmed this. I sold Keith a guitar at Guitar Center. He's a good guy. He bought a pink guitar for someone once. My buddy sold it to him. Some guys there were makin little jokes. I said Keith is right over there, go tell him how funny that pink guitar is. Long story short, they didnt say any thing hehe
I liked watching this video I can relate to these fine people on several levels. I wish them the best!
loving the Fightland stuff :)
2 of my favorite things vice videos and MMA
I can’t wait till February. The biggest challenge for me in the beginning is to drive from jersey all the way there. Like 29 hours lol
Wheres the cocaine?
Lol'd
Bruce Wayne up his nose stupid.
Up his arse now
Bruce Wayne damn you man... it's a fucking card read the book or dont; god damn i hate hip hop i dont agree with it being a form of music at all
GOD James hip hop is the best form of music. not the stuff you hear on the radio, but there;s a lot more to it than that.
Great video! Thank you vice! Much appreciated from a martial artist.
Great work, VICE. You've got a good one here.
The home of top name fighters. It would be awesome to go and watch them spar.
True. I'd love to see Travis doing his thing. The mans a beast
Continuous wear and tear from punches and grappling causes swelling and deformation of ear cardiledge, hence the shape.
1:57 jon jones skipping leg day
Mr_Golden_Rpg dont need to train legs if u walk on them all day
Thats literally how he got the nickname ‘bones’
E Johnston hah?
He doesn't train them so the upper part can still be bulky and still make it to 205 pounds
this is mma,not bodybuilding
Vice made Tristar look like more of meathead gym than Jackson Wink
How can you not like Eric Perez, that smile is infectious and he seems like a food dude
_New Mexico_! I'm from Santa Fe. :)
Finally Vice! Thanks.
13:42 - "not too many things to get them in trouble at night time"
- Owner of the gym where Jon Jones trains
It's not just his physical advantages it's his mental toughness..the guy continued to fight with his toe broken in half, he didn't feel a thing.
Did anyone else see that car accident at 15:50?!! what in the world?!
i think they used it as a reference to getting hurt
agree, I lived in China, NewZealand, Abq, and abq is by far the nicest and safest place i lived, friendly people and all.
I was just wrestling with Erik Goyo Perez and Izzy Martinez Hell Ya!
They should do one of these with sbg
13:35 Wink please; Jon's creativity is not limited to inside of the octagon. On a serious note, Jon have always been about being the greatest and setting records. Taking that belt away and breaking whatever record he was trying to set might have psychologically broke him. Malki Kawa (Jon's manager) is hinting at Jon leaving MMA, so we will see how will this play out.
Man going full time rehab
Akai sora Nah everybody knows Jones is still the man. The ufc taking away the belt is just a technicality like the DQ loss to Hammill.
Did anyone at 3:00 check if their own music was playing? lol
I was hoping someone could give me some info. Ive been boxing for a few years and the better I get the more interested in MMA I've become, not as a practitioner, I just find it to be a cool sport. What do pro MMA fighters usually begin studying and how do they study "fighting" in general? For example, does one guy have a strong background in wrestling, then he goes on to study muay thai, jiu jitsu, boxing etc? Do you try to become passable in all aspects of striking and ground game or just try and perfect certain schools of thought? I just can't wrap my head around being such a complete fighter, when becoming good at one area of fighting is difficult enough.
More of this please.
insane camp. This, + Noguera's camp, Silva's Corinthias camp and Trystar stand out the most. Jackson's MMA gym best in the US
One love Jon Smooth...505 Duke city catch you Friday
Still remember Matt Ruskin from Balls Deep. Wonder if it hurts to see MMA pros at it again...
It's due to constant swelling from BJJ or wrestling. The fluid calcifies and then gets hard.
Great doc! Hell yeah!
1 of the greatest gyms in the world.
Holy shit Holly Holms is there
nearly all fighters have this. this happens if the blood vessels in the ear are damaged too often
dem ears tho
Winning Billiard tournaments feels pretty good to for those of us that dont fight.
what's title of the music in the start
it's grapplers' ear/ cauliflower ear. Common in jiu jitsu and wrestling
you guys should do a video on gleasons gym in brooklyn. Thats my gym, one of the best and most notorious boxing gyms in the world
Never heard of it
+Dylan Whitton lol. Haha I know right
+Dylan Whitton lol
I googled gleasons gym in brooklyn and its a kosher deli
13:00 powerful kale shake
really nice docu
Great documentry......

Ty
Congratz to Travis Brown on your recent victory over Gonzaga.
there was an accident where someones toe nail cut his eyeball or something like that he told the story on one of his fighters countdown or primetime shows I can't remember which one
El Goyito Perez es pro!! Todo un orgullo Méxicano!
New mexico the state not mexico
Whose seen Arlovski and Travis Browne's actual fight years after this?
It's called the Cauliflower ear, very common on wrestling or striking sports.
My buddy sold him the pink strat. That was Seiji. I cant rember what I sold him before that. I think it was a Tele?
Try to do one on Caesar Gracies Camp in Lodi, CA or Team Alpha Male which is also in Northern California. Elite camps that are very unique.
I live in New Mexico to, but its not bad
I think it was for UFC 154 condit vs. GSP.
“A pretty shitty area… but it’s home” Osu ✊
Why did'nt they show more of Jun Po? :(
What exactly is Episoketren System? How does this thing really work? I notice a lot of people keep on talking about this popular training program.
New Mexico is very beautiful, but Albuquerque is one of the weirdest places I've been too.
This must've been before Cowboy started training there
You guys should come visit Gleason's gym here in Brooklyn
How much does this camp cost?
what's the tune that drops in about 4 mins in? Anyone know?
cheers
A headguard will prevent that. Besides its takes years to get cauliflower ear
documentary on gym's in uk? europe? would be good to see!
4:33 min , anyone knows the song that is playing ?
Valentin01993 Possbly Neon Indian or less so, Passion Pit
Yes they will pull a weapon out on you. For honking your horn. First time I ever saw a vehicle shot up from road rage was in Albuquerque
Nick Thompson is a lawyer. Rich Franklin was a school teacher, Shane Carwin was an engineer, Joe Lauzon was a network administrator, Carlos Newton is an architect. A lot of these guys are actually pretty smart so it's not hard to believe that he was a lawyer.
Interesting that Greg jackson isn't present in this video.
Oh how the mighty have fallen considering many great og’s like Cowboy and Diego Sanchez aren’t there anymore it’s a shame Jackson Wink is not the same anymore
Bubba from TUF 17 season in the background @ 2:37
what font does VICE use in all its videos?
awesome gym they got there
2:38 Spotted Bubba
It's weird to see Arlovski and Travis train together
cauliflower is a fucking pain
Why the subtitles for him? :S
Landon Vannata looks like Ray boom boom Mancini
I wish I could go train there :/
The cut scene editing in this was really distracting.
