I went to school with James Polodna - the Aussie guy - for a couple of years. Always wondered what happened to him. He was actually an excellent soccer player when he was a kid. One of the best for his age. He also had a reputation as someone you didn't want to tangle with even back then so I'm not surprised he became a professional fighter.
The music that starts at 11.27 is so serene. It goes perfectly with the video. MMA is so much more than just fighting. So much passion, dedication, and glory behind it. Can't even put it into words. Love this video. So motivating.
Did they really have to splice the video with scenes of animal deaths. I'm trying to watch a video about an mma gym and I don't need to see a bull getting stabbed in the head out of nowhere. It's almost like the people who made this video still view MMA like human cockfighting or something and are trying to portray it in a grotesque manner.
Mikey Nankoff ...are you serious? There are a TON of rules in place during an MMA fight of what you can't do to your opponent. "whatever means possible" does not apply here dude.
It's called MMA. Mixed Martial Arts. Just because an MMA fighter has more tools to use than a boxer doesn't mean that the intention is different, it's exactly the same. They're trying to put away their opponent.
Mikey Nankoff You just explained the exact reason why boxing is so dangerous. The guy can DECIDE to keep fighting when he's hurt. In MMA they'll stop the fight.
Mikey Nankoff You are living in outer space dude. Of course real fighting can get more serious with weapons and shit, but MMA is "as real as it gets" as an accepted mainstream sport.
I live in Montreal...been here since I'm 5 years old... I been around in a large amount of Martial art schools and dojos kwoons!!! from Chinese gong fu styles to Japanese styles... even Indonesian and Philippino ect..I'm not a Master neither a Champ really... But when It comes to Montreal Ive trained for a good 8-9 years...changing styles often mostly Traditional styles!!! I knew a little about Tri Star Gym but I did not know this much about them... this documentary was good!!!
some edgy try-hard soyboi thinking it's ''gritty'' to put retarded footage in between people fighting. so fucking shitty holy fuck this is what you get when fucking Vice the epitomy of cuckery go to report on a manly activity
Totally feel you there. A lot of people really didn't seem to understand that GSP vs Diaz not only re-exposed Diaz wrestling weaknesses but even more exposed how GSP will not take a single risk even if it's handed to him. He knew Diaz tricks when people take his back, so he didn't even try. He just held on to the Greco Roman hold and literally dominated him by holding him down. I give credit to that combo breaker jab too...but also, no risk in striking showed in the least.
incase any of u people were wondering (like me) what gloves Rory Macdonald was using at 6:30-6:50 i found them and they are the same ones he just has them taped there called- hayabusa kanpeki 2.0 elite mma gloves just google them or go to MMAwarehouse and search em up
Thanks Vice, it's nice to see you back to posting good videos and not bullshit. Please remember that it's the mature documentaries and eye-opening videos that got you where you are, posting childish shit that only gets thousands of dislikes may get you money in the short term but it seriously damages your reputation
Watching this make me realize how far I am from being a Martial Artist in any form what so ever.. Rethinking about it I think I'd rather stick to watching the fights or rather try becoming a Ref. Thanks Vice Keep 'em videos coming!
Me from all my experiences of Martial arts... what I really enjoyed is to meet peoples who shared the same interest...the sharing... getting knowledge... the embodiment of these old an ancient Methods...the culture the philosophy attached to the styles...The movements...discovering all these things your body can do...all these methods ect...that's what was fun about Martial arts!!! MMA has none of these really... its more like HEY LETS GO BROO.. LETS FIGHT BROO lol
I have dreams about training at Tristar, how cool would it to be to train at Tristar and also live in the dorms... Man, I would drop everything in my life for that...To be somewhere that your skills that actually mean everything. Where I live me and my training partner are the only martial artists in the gym!
Rory shut Ellenberger down... A brilliant display of technical fighting... Might not have been the most exciting fight. But as a true MMA fan I can notice and appreciate the application of a well fought game plan...
The comraderie amongst these guys is extraordinary. It might be what’s missing amongs young men these days. I wonder how it can be recreated for guys who can’t fight at that level but could use the direction, discipline and friendship. So many guys are falling into addiction, unemployment and isolation it’s not just an epidemic it’s a pandemic. Fucking tired of seeing guys in court wondering how their lives got so off track. They don’t belong in court, they belong somewhere like this. If anyone has any ideas as to how this can be achieved for non serious fighters I’m all ears. I’d do anything to make this happen near me if I could.
Who cares they made all those videos about Spring Break movie? So what? Don't like it, don't watch it.. Damaging the reputation? Only for people like you that love to talk shit. As you see, all these other uploads are simply amazing! They will never damage their reputation just because they make a "special" of a not so good movie, in the middle of dozens other serious remarkable documentaries. They know what they're doing, and we love it!
9:24 Concerning that he got injured so badly on his first day of training. Do they push rookies too far before they've developed sufficient fighting skills?
Coolworldleaderguy happens dude.. there are lot of guys who spar for their anger lol dealt with lot of dudes like that...or sometimes happens when ROOKIES fight to prove to everyone who they are and they end up getting sparred up by real high level guy in a heated fight.. either way not a scenario I like to see in gyms but it occura
Alex Sung I just think it makes no sense. Most guys don't have any hope of becoming pro and making a decent living wage for it. If you're just doing it for fitness and self development, how beneficial is having your body destroyed towards that cause? It's just short sighted and fucking dumb. Better to maybe learn a bit slower but preserve yourself for your actual work & all else in life.
Yeah their excuse is like.. it was a sparring. Bullshit u went crazy hard on purpose. It is true when u hit someone HARD, they become hslesitant so you blget the advantage to pick better shots off the guy... But that's with an agreement to go hard. These guys are pros but there are aaalot of dudes who can't control their emotion when they spar.. and i can see why many ppl try mma or thai boxing for first time and they don't come back. Its fucking stupid. I agree
Shit I thought he meant he trains all day but he actually lives in a gym this some old school martial arts movie shit no distractions , just listening to your sifu
Doesn't Tom 'Kong' Watson train there? I know he was dropped from UFC but i've trained at his old gym in Southampton and him and the gym Dan Hardy used to train at :)
definitely! you understand what I'm saying. Thanks for the explanation! Still here in Germany, even though the national fighters are really good, people who do MMA still think UFC Fighters are the best strikers, kickers and grapplers in the world. often times they're just a bunch of bar fighters...

Andrew Evans what's with the "you neow" accent? Too much travel 🙃

BJJBushido This is my favorite video on the internet
+BJJBushido They didnt credit it sadly :\ anyone know what it is?
I love how people shit on eddie bravo but now top levels gyms are teaching the twister and rubber guard

Mikey Nankoff No, it's exactly the same for MMA. Amateur MMA bouts are called off even earlier if you're in trouble.
I live in Montreal...been here since I'm 5 years old... What the fuck are this pictures they are showing throughout the video?
+Xounari narinari
Fuckin weird, right?
+Xounari narinari Imagine that in day to day life
Yeah the editing getting really annoying now
yeah the editing is awful.
some edgy try-hard soyboi thinking it's ''gritty'' to put retarded footage in between people fighting. so fucking shitty holy fuck this is what you get when fucking Vice the epitomy of cuckery go to report on a manly activity
@@jesusiskingofkingsz whats with the fascination with masculinity dude? its just an annoyingly edited video
16:17 to 16:38 is the most motivating part ever, gives me chills everytime i watch it
I'm so impressed with how quickly Vice has created one of the best MMA-related video series out there.
Was that Ryan Hall from the Ultimate Fighter?
+speedy9313 yes

On of the most fascinating gyms and trainers on the planet, very interesting to see.
Thank you Vice for visiting Tristar!
I train at Tristar and I can tell you Firas and the guys are highly philosophical martial artists.
7:32 Ryan Hall Tuf 22
For those who don't know.. Alex Garcia finally got his UFC shot... he fought is Australia two weeks ago and won.
incase any of u people were wondering (like me) what gloves Rory Macdonald was using at 6:30-6:50 i found them and they are the same ones he just has them taped there called- hayabusa kanpeki 2.0 elite mma gloves just google them or go to MMAwarehouse and search em up
I have. Rory's one of my favorite fighters. Just thought the comment would suit the video, but it was just a random compliment.
Fightland is amazing. You folks do great work. Thanks.
PLEASE MORE OF THIS!
Awesome film. Thanks, Firas, for producing some of the most exciting fighters in the MMA world today!
This is the best one so far!
Listening to the way some of these guys talk about how good it feels to hurt someone I'm kinda glad they only do it to each other
I expected so much cool footage, but his segment was only 30 seconds and you say that. Jeez. What a fan.
Thanks Vice, it's nice to see you back to posting good videos and not bullshit. Please remember that it's the mature documentaries and eye-opening videos that got you where you are, posting childish shit that only gets thousands of dislikes may get you money in the short term but it seriously damages your reputation
Awesome video. Fightlands producing some gems
Truly world-class MMA gym.
Great stuff Vice. Keep these Fightland videos coming.
Who made these videos? Better than anything I've seen on Vice.

Watching this make me realize how far I am from being a Martial Artist in any form what so ever.. Rethinking about it I think I'd rather stick to watching the fights or rather try becoming a Ref. Thanks Vice Keep 'em videos coming!

Good to see Kajan making it on Ultimate Fighter Nations. Hope he goes far.

Damn, crazy seeing Jordan Parson being mentioned. RIP.

This is what i've wanted to see.
I have dreams about training at Tristar, how cool would it to be to train at Tristar and also live in the dorms... Man, I would drop everything in my life for that...To be somewhere that your skills that actually mean everything. Where I live me and my training partner are the only martial artists in the gym!
He's definitely Canadian. My dad worked with his mom in BC.
A track list would be nice!(:
Rory shut Ellenberger down... A brilliant display of technical fighting... Might not have been the most exciting fight. But as a true MMA fan I can notice and appreciate the application of a well fought game plan...
He was from BC then went to Montreal for his fighting career.
