Met Atiba backstage with Turnstile in Portland a few years back. Nobody backstage with me knew who he was, I approached him and told him how big of a fan I was, that growing up I had so many of his pics on my wall etc..he was the nicest guy, and we talked old school post hard-core ( quicksand, orange 9mm) and he was just the coolest. He even took a picture of me and my homie with Turnstile..so I'm lucky enough to say I got my Pic taken by Atiba!! Again nicest guy out there. Had my all my gear stolen twice which pretty much crushed that dream. But before that happened I managed to get two of my photos in Thrasher’s Photograffiti and was beyond stoked to have something published in the same magazine with all these dudes I looked up to. 🙌🏽 Thank you Atiba and thank you skateboarding.

I grew up on the east coast where the skate culture was a lot different, but I'd often see his pics not knowing who he was. In the late 90s I recall some of the dudes saying "Oh yeah, that's an Atiba flick." Of course, I'm all "What's Atiba? Is it a new board company?" HA!
