Your authenticity and humbleness shines! I’ve been a fan from pretty early on. I found you through your Jack Reacher leather jacket video trying to spruce up a sweet a55 1970’s red leather jacket my Grandfather gave me! Then you really started doing more bikes and I was hooked! Thank You!
Anyone else thought he just bought the stickers from eBay…and then got mind blown by the super diligent masking tape, scan, software and print workflow for every sticker. So cool.
Thank you for showing how you do your graphics and giving an update. I was thinking of just pulling images from the web and using those for various bike logos. I'm reconsidering that after watching this video and am wondering why creating the images in Illustrator might be a better way to go.
Ahh a TCX, my Niner RLT guess was close though. Thank you for showing your decal method. Also I’m sure you know this but it’s been awesome to witness the growth of smaller channels doing rebuilds that were inspired by you! Keep it up!
I learned how to paint bikes with pre-cut stensils because of your videos. I really appreciate they way you share your knowledge. Keep up the great work! I'm a big fan from the Philippines. ❤️❤️
Good video. At the beginnig, I see very rare the use of stickers one over other, but later, when remove the stickers after the painting, the result was amazing. For this reason, I sent my like 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing as always. My next project is a Bianchi CF. I never stripped and painted CF so it was a useful tutorial, as such, for me. Maybe you could add a Carbon Fibre strip and paint tutorial link in description for others to follow, all be it as you have said not necessarily a professional paint job. It's more than good enough for me 🙂
Man that was a sweet frame! I’ve just bought a Giant Ironman carbon fibre frame, and I’m hella excited, I’m old school and only bought my first alloy bike like 5 months ago, now I have this carbon fibre thing, I feel like it’s an F1 car. It’ll be a slow build, I have a few old school steel road frames in front of it and because there seems to be a bunch of them for sale, I have obviously bought 6 bikes and I’m also an idiot
Your first "studio" bike project. Actually a great tip for an aspiring bike repair or mod RUclipsr. Your props need to work with the medium. The video production pro's at Park Tool saw it. BTW - I am not an aspiring YT creator, I have other outlets :)
Great video! I’ve purchased a spray.bike set to repaint my Cannondale Habit Carbon 1 and your video is finally showing how to prepare a carbon frame for re-painting. Could you be so kind as to walk me thru the sand paper specs you’ve used? And any advise you can share to help me in obtaining a neat final result on my Habit? This is the first time I engage a project like this and I wouldn’t like to screw my bicycle up! Thank you and thumb up again for your video
oldshovel: Im not a perfect painter Me: If oldshovel is not a perfect painter. Then what am i oldshovel that paint job was soo perfect it honestly looked like it was straight out of the factory
Really enjoyed your work again Old Shovel :) Just noticed that the paint is actually from London and their paint shades are named after London districts, eg. Whitechapel as well as other areas in Britain: Humber Bridge. Nice.
I noticed on some of your videos you reuse some of the spray can tips. You can always purchase new spray tips for the cans to get consistent layers onto your builds. Just a thought, love your videos🤙🏾
Thanks for the vid. What else kind of vinyl can you use for the stencil?. A link would be appreciated. Can the cricut transfer tape be used on cameo4? Thank you.
Trying to learn as much as I can about spray.bike products. Do yo have a video based solely on how to paint with their products? How long of a time to reach full cure and max durability?
Please do not sell yourself short. I'm a graduate of an art academy & also have restored some old cars with top pro paint jobs. I know a good paint job. I can't believe the quality of your work without an airbrush. You are a great painter! That bike looks great. Unfortunately, I preferred the original color which is a color I love and like it on a bike for visibility in traffic. I have several carbon fiber bikes because they smooth out the ride & help with my skeletal arthritis pain. I got Spinergy wheels which make a huge difference in smoothing out the road. You gotta do what you gotta do to be as comfortable as possible. For me it's not an option. I really like your work & enjoy your videos. 👍☮️🌞🚲
Hello. How about the schwinn rocket 88 upgrade project? I did one myself recently and it turned out perfectly. I would like to see your idea for the renovation of such a full😉
You must have made this video just before I started following you. I am repainting a.bike and trying to more or less reproduce the logos as well. So you have any tricks for dealing with thinner/smaller/narrower parts of the stencils when weeding them and pulling off the transfer tape? Or is there a limit to how thin a line you'd reproduce on a stencil?
I'm a hack at a lot of things but I've been wondering for a while why you don't do a relatively quick wet sand after peeling stencils to knock down/smooth out the edges of those transitions. Full disclosure: my last paint job was a mirror housing on a 260,000km Jetta of no consequence.
Really nice, just a quick question... how do you know where to place the different layers of the stickers so you can create that so perfect strokes. do you use any mark in order to place them all in the right place? Many thaks
Nice job! Most of the paints I have used on bikes strongly suggest spraying the clear coat 30 minutes after the basecoat. Have you had any problems delaying the clear coat longer because of the decals?
How long did you wait for the paint to dry before you removed the vinyl? I am painting a practice frame currently, with the spray-bike paint, and have vinyl on the frame but unsure of timeframe before I remove it.
There’s two possible reasons I can think of. One is the adhesion of the paint to the layer below it not as strong as the vinyl to the paint. This can be from the primer or the other layers below the last layer of paint. It can also be from the paint not being dry enough. I personally have had both happen to me. 😁
Great Video as always! Is it neccessary to comletely remove the old paint job? Or would it be ok to just paint over the "old" paint job, if you just clean it? I´m thinking about using Spray.bike on my Alu Frame, it is quite new, just ugly. The work of completely removing the old paint might put me off though.
Looks amazing! Can't wait to see it in person.
Thanks
@@oldshovel you're welcome

An old shovel and berm peak upload the same morning! This day has started off great
Awesome
Dude you are the “Bob Ross” of bike frame painting. Love watching your creative work!!
how does he not have more sponsors and business. I think he is creative with the bike colors he makes and the configurations as well.
Thanks

Im sitting here on a lazy Sunday morning, and then I see a new @oldshovel bike video. What a great start to the day!!

I love that final color. I always thought vinyl had a pretty strong adhesive. Do you use a special kind that peels off more easily?
It was probably a vinyl masking sheet.
Awesome paint job and congrats on the new partners. Also I dont know if you can change this but in the outro it says check the Park Took Channel
