watched the community celebration with exhibition matches a couple days ago. what's crazy to me is how jumping is actually viable. other 3D fighters play like it might as well not exist.
Since I laid my eyes on the VF1 at a local arcade in the summer of 1993, I knew it was the FUTURE. For those of us who played fighting games in the 90s, there was a broad consensus (by mid 90s) that the 2D fighting game was obsolete and on the way out (even Capcom and SNK tried to make 3D versions of their big franchises). It's funny that most new fighting game titles that came out in 2020s (thirty years later) are predominantly 2D fighters with anime graphics. Back in the 90s, the "dream" of all fighting game developers was to (eventually) represent real martial arts on the TV screen. After the maturity of CG in early 2000s, it seemed that the dream was realized and the developers (as well as the players) suddenly lost their interest. Enough for the rant. VF is back.
I remember in the early 2000s if you played even 3rd Strike or even KNEW what Mark of the Wolves or any 2D that wasn’t Marvel or CvS you stood out. By the time SF4 came out things changed in a big way
So happy we are getting Virtua fighter back! I’d also love Nintendo would get one or a collection of older games. Was very pissed off to not have VF4 for GameCube (borrowed ps2 from my friend to play it) or VF5 for WiiU.
A Sega Fighting Collection akin to the Capcom ones would be nice. Maybe throw in Fighters Megamix and Sonic the Fighters (with the fixed version of Hioney from the PS3/X360 release).
The best part about VF is not having to wait 5 seconds every-time you get hit to play the game again. Decisions happen very fast and you often have 3 or more options you can make in any given advantage or disadvantage you are put in. It's why people often say the game feels balanced at all levels of play, there's just so much control and options for both players and the game never takes that away from you with a super meter, huge combo extensions or come-back mechanics (well besides ring outs, lol)
0 frames of input delay is so immediately better in every way that it's absurd that it took this long to get here. People can finally legitimately actually for real play the game how it's supposed to be played, and feel it how it's supposed to be felt. VF renaissance hopefully as long as sega doesn't pull a sega
Being a Pai player, it is really easy to figure her out when playing against more amateur players. She has tons of high attacks that you can easily duck and punish. Even with that low kick to a roundhouse that the opponent was doing, you can take the first hit and still duck under the roundhouse and punish. BIG! It breaks down to this. If Pai is foing a 3 combo starting woth 3 punches, just duck and block. It either ends over your head and punishable, or low, blocked and punishable. She seems overwhelming but you can easily overcome it.
@@raionbomber75exactly. It had the same stage type and it just didn’t work. Me personally, I agree with that sentiment. Tekken doesn’t play like VF, and that’s fine. Fighting games have different mechanics for a reason
Playing Akira at this level is no easy task! Bravo Max! 👏🏾 Just dloaded this game yesterday and learning Kage! Feels refreshing from Tekken Calibur 8!!!
and yet every FGC member that knows this game will tell you that it's one of the most fast paced games I agree with what you said when you add: "If you don't know what you are doing yet, it feels like fighting underwater" Once you master your char, which can take quite a lot of time, and get a feeling for the system it becomes the most intense and beautiful fighting game out there
It feels way better with 0 frames of input delay. But otherwise it's just a game feel thing you gotta get used to. Treat your characters like they're martial artists in a showy movie and develop a flowchart for yourself and you'll see your character flow seamlessly from one move to the next. Once it clicks, it clicks hard.
If I were to be 100% serious, this game has more decisions per minute for both players than any other fighting game that currently exists, and rounds in this game don't even last a minute.
I Honestly do not like the down punch system in this game, in a visual sense.it's weird seing these fighter crounching to punch people in the knees.... Why give that low interrupt to a punch rather than a kick...like in any martial art ? I hope down punch will be down kick in VF6.
Yeah the "Absorb Delay through Google Servers Netcode" only works in Japan cause they have 10 Google Servers. US has 3, Europe has 4, and Africa had NONE when the game was released. Then it does some weird stuff connecting to the first server available instead of the closest.
Best netcode in a fighting game BY FAR! I've had such a smooth experience, I can't wait for January 27th, the only issue with this game is that there just aren't enough players, which makes sense, considering Sega has been neglecting VF for YEARS, it's crazy to think that it's already been over 3 years since Ultimate Showdown.
Revo is the steam version which has rollback. The ps4 version got the same balance changes but not the netcode update. The idea is the steam version is for playing online and the ps4 version is for local/tournament play. Vf6 will be more standardized since revo was a very spontaneous release mostly just to test rollback for vf6
ps5/ps4 got Patches while Pc got the game itself with Rollback. Huge deal sense they haven't had a Vf game in what feels like forever (Revo is the pc port) I believe. Ps5/ps4 got everything but roll back
Ultimate showdown had good online if it was green bar and sometimes yellow bar, but narratives ran wild and mostly from people that barely played the game beyond the first few days. I'd even argue that delay base is smoother than rollback (so far).
Sucks they're apparently not going to be able to get the rollback to work on consoles. Especially since you just know that VF6 ain't coming to last gen consoles. All the PS4 players could of kept VF5 alive while VF6 is out. Sam Sho 2019 fixed it's online for PS4. The PS4 can run God of War Ragnarok. Don't appreciate companies gaslighting us into believing that it's a potato now. Tekken 8 and Virtua Fighter 5 & 6 with the rollback should be on PS4. They could totally get those games running on last gen hardware. Maybe not VF6, but Tekken 8 totally should have a PS4 version like Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8 doesn't even have rollback.
@@blackrahk2037 it was re-released in the yakuza engine to test the engine for future Virtua Fighter installments like VF 6 or whatever it will be called, the ultimate showdown version is definitely not " a PS3 game"

In virtua fighter everything is viable
Jumping beats lows, and 2p, and it has mix up properties on wake up.
Thanks for giving us more VF content, the beta was fun. Im so hyped for REVO and VF6 !
Been a Pai main for VF4 and VF5. Thinking of giving Goh a shot once this releases on Steam.
VF looking way better than I seen Max played last time. & the upcoming 1 looks sick!!! VF on the Rise!
Get em Max. Get em! Akira is a pretty tough character to play with.
Pogged when Max did a Tetsuzankou, it was like neuron activation
Its the coolest fighting move but also has the sickest input. I recommend everyone learns Akira if not just for the dopamine of the Tetsuzanko
Love seeing VF get it's dues. 3 buttons, 8 direction. That's it. The rest is skill, positioning and reflex
That sounds like every fighting game ever minus 1 button.

Yep. And the main mixup is mid, throw, or a fast high. Lows are dookie butt, which makes VF unique.

Idk how honest but Akira does Bajiquan lol. Jean is the only karate guy in the roster

Bajiquan in 3D fighters:
