This is an excellent tutorial as easily translatable to PE Design Plus software, which is what I use. The applique method just isn't covered in the handbook and has stumped me for months - until I came across this video! Have just managed to do it perfectly following your instructions. Thank you!!!!
Glad you enjoyed! Make sure that your letter is selected. On the sewing order tool bar, right click on the letter and select...you should then be able to alter attributes. Make sure also that you are clicking within the small box to the left of the "spool of thread" icon.
Hi there, thanks for your explanation. It was really helpful. I just have one question: you set your zig-zag stitch to 0.25 inches, what about the density? What if I want a smaller zig-zag, I mean how should I adjust density?
Hi and you're welcome! I like the default density, you can adjust that to your personal liking. Change the number higher and lower and you will instantly see the changes.
Hi. wanted to know how todo applique multiple letters (like "grandma") in 1 step for the three parts rather than each letter separately. I have the single needle essence 5200 and Bes4 Dream Edition. Do the three steps automatically align together rather than hoping? thank you > Pat
If I am creating an appliqué for the word "two" would I follow you example for the "a" and then repeat steps for each subsequent letter? At first I had grouped the letters; but I know I need to complete each letter before moving to the next since they will each be in a different fabric. Also, will the jump stitch happen by default, or do I need to know how to do that? Thanks so much.
Kathy, you could do either individually or as a whole word. Would be quicker and easier as a whole word, but if large applique' letters, I sometimes prefer each letter to be finished individually for best orientation of finishing stitch over the edge of the fabric. Less pull compensation over the area of one letter versus three letters...but I have done both successfully.
sewhandy I am using 4" lower case letters on a toddler's t-shirt. I have the letters grouped now and have copied and pasted according to your directions. When you commented about changing the colors so your machine knows when to stop, I got confused about the letters as a unit. I want to be able to do each letter in a different fabric. This will be my first time to ever create or modify an appliqué pattern.
kathy loftin For ease then, I would create each letter individually. You could still create as a whole word and just place different pieces of fabric over each placement stitch, still allowing you to have a different fabric on each letter.
Thanks! By own designs are you referring to an embroidery design or artwork? Give me more detail of exactly what you want to accomplish and I will try and make a video for you.
Thank you you made it so easy to understand how to do it
