- I decided to go and try out wildlife photography and what better a subject than the Kingfisher. Such a beautiful bird, and extremely fast :-). The location is an RSPB reserve close to Leicestershire, and after a thunderstorm halted the first shoot i returned and witnessed an amazing site. There were four Kingfishers there that morning 2 adults and 2 young, for my first ever wildlife shoot let alone photographing Kingfishers i think i was a little spoilt, and this certainly set the bar high.
Well done 👏🏿 they are so beautiful. Nice music selection as well🔥❤️
Thank you so much 😀
Wonderful shots! Excellent movie.
A pleasure to watch.
Quality Andrew keep them coming. Rodders.

Wonderful pictures Andrew.
Beautiful journey Jenn.
Stunning images and a great little video, really enjoyed that. Went Kingfisher hunting on the Norfolk Broads last year and saw lots of them. Photographing is another matter but i did manage a few shots. Nothing to compare to your superb photos though but was chuffed just the same. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to more. Gilly

Awesome vid Andy! Nice work :-)
Beautiful movie of the diamond among the birds.
Some cracking shots here Andy 👏
Nice job mate. I didn't know you had a tube channel. I have kingfishers near me but we haven't managed to get too close yet so were going back with a pop up hide to see how we do. What an amazing location. The video and the images were superb pal 😊😊
Thanks they become addictive

Stunning, well done....
nice work love the stills to.
I have seen one kingfisher at the pond of my local forest one day ago, where I shoot landscape, nature and some wildlife (I'm new to this, only got roe deers and some common birds), I'm searching informations on this bird that's why i'm here, I hope I will get one on picture one day, it's a really beautiful bird. Thanks for that video
Vincent Vrsn thanks happy hunting they are stunning little birds
Nice video 👏👏
Honestly cant wait to get a longer lens for my camera and try this!
I'm also a west midlands resident so may also try this location, however im not sure how i would fair in the current autumn weather conditions
fantastic images of both male and female, I had my first sightings and photographs of a male female and juvenile from last August to late October, but since October they have been less active in the lake area I was seeing them so think they are more hunting elsewhere, with occasional visit back where I photographed them most, love to know where they go mostly now lol.
Thanks was my first year trying wildlife cant wait for the spring
enjoyed every mint, thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed it

Andrew Homer Not that I saw Andrew ?
amazing shots:)
Thank you so much
Wow! Out of your comfort zone? One small tip. If you are outside in a lightning storm, a metal shipping container is about the safest place to be. If you doubt this, look up “Faraday cage”.
Stuart Schaffner thanks i’ll remember that
You have such pretty Kingfishers compared to our here in the States.
Great kingfisher images - well done. Particularly since the depth-of-field was evidently pretty small. You must have been using some powerful glassware AND a very good camera support. Thanks for sharing.
John Cortex thankyou very much

Hi it was the Tamron 150-600 G2
Andrew Homer thank you. 👍🏻
Andrew Homer I use the same lens....I now live in Vietnam...I regularly chase kingfishers here in hanoi....got the common quite regularly...also have the white throated and pied kingfisher so far..
Those aren't Malachites, are they? Beautiful!
Sue yes in UK called Kingfishers
@@AndrewHomer Yes, but what kind of Kingfisher? They look much like what Malachite Kingfishers look like here in South Africa. Except that with the Malachite Kingfisher that little russet patch on the cheek runs down into the russet on the chest. Lovely photos - small kingfishers are NOT easy to photograph.
European kingfisher
How do I find good hotspots and public hides
Hi a good place to look is a website called ebird, can search by bird or area and shows where spotted
