    This was an awesome video. You brought up so many different great points. Extra maintenance never hurts and so many people also disregard this stuff. This will go over and over and over tuning and buying parts but don’t look into the basics that make the car run correct. Good oil, plugs, drivetrain etc. again such a nice good vidoe. Happy this popped up in my recommended

    A few additional items to keep on top of. 1) Air filters, CLEAN your AIR FILTER without fail (This is an easy win). 2) Oil checkup, send samples of your motor oil off to Blackstone laboratories for analysis, it's only $30 (and really simple) to have a little piece of mind about the state of your motor.

    So re: your recommendations for oil change interval, is it supported by data with blackstone oil analysis? ... that the oil is actually breaking down at a certain mileage or is just based on anecdotal suggestions? Also, re: spark plugs you should clarify that drivers change to a colder spark plug ONLY if this is what their specific tuner recommends. Some tuners, for example, like APR specifically test stage 2 with RS7 step colder plugs whereas IE tuning tests with stock plugs. Otherwise, good suggestions to increase maintenance intervals which 'seems' like a good practice.

    • @DArias
      @DArias  3 года назад +2

      I’m just basing my stuff off of suggestions. You bring up fair points I haven’t dont any oil sampling or analysis but it seems like a common thing to do being there car is being driven harder. Also good point with the plugs as well David. Yes tuners do specify for different plugs depending on tune and that’s a point I missed. Very good talking points you bring up I appreciate that. Motor on my friend!

    Best advice. People love to modify cars until it’s time to maintain them and saying it’s too much money lmao

    • @DArias
      @DArias  3 года назад +1

      Couldn’t agree more lol there will always be more maintenance cost after tuning no matter what car you choose to build

    whats the correct AFR number i should be reading. On eqt 91 stage 1?

    • @DArias
      @DArias  3 года назад +2

      AFRs can vary depending on many things but essentially in the 11s is perfect. A little dip into the 10s isn’t bad. If you start seeing 9s you’re way too rich and anything around the 13s is too lean

    Do you have a forum recommendation for s3 forum?

    • @DArias
      @DArias  2 года назад +1

      Personally I think the best place or not for advice now a days is Facebook there are many running groups as well as Audi 8v pages with a ton of info. Too many to list but I suggest joining as many as you find and then in the search bar type in what you need or looking for and I’m sure it’s been covered by someone previously!

      I have a ‘17 S3 with an APR Stage 1 and transmission tune. The car is my daily driver and my style is usually conservative with occasional spirited runs. Would you recommend changing to a colder plug? I have the OEM plugs with 28K miles. Thanks.

    When you say ‘tuned car’ you means stage one/two/three? It seems quite broad, if you think of the difference between a basic stage one and fully bolts on stage three. Awesome tips by the way

    • @DArias
      @DArias  3 года назад +2

      Thanks man! And tbh this is more steered toward the basic stage 1 & 2 tunes on stock turbo and no engine work etc haha I would hope when someone goes past that to a bigger turbo and fully built engine that they know what they’re doing. This is more for the first time modifier

    Just for friendly discussion purposes, I love your vids overall, but with oil changes in these cars, it's is literally a waste of money and bad for the environment to change your oil every 3-5k. I only say this because it is 100% *proven* by Blackstone analysis, people running 10k+ intervals and their oil testing great! You have to keep in mind that the full synthetic and very high standard VW spec the oil these cars take is simply incredible quality. In fact, the harder you drive it and heat it up, the more you burn off the impurities, and keep it clean. In fact, you have to get to an oil temp of at *least* 260 degrees before good synthetic even remotely begins to break down.... Anyway, we are entitled to our opinions, but in this case Blackstone analysis proves this, I suggest reading into this more, bro, it's really interesting!
    Edit: I see it was mentioned already below... consider this a bump for an important point. :)
