Hi Trevor, after hearing about your gun from a friend and store owner, I decided to look up your videos. Not only are your presentations very insightful (instructional and educational), but you are very well articulated and discerning in your language and choice of words.... I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your RUclips videos....oh and am also a proud new (2 day old) owner of a brand new MR920L! 😎
U can tell how much he cars about his company's reputation. His product and his customers taking the time to create all this content I'm an offshore roughneck. Been binge-watching everything I could find on the Dr 920. I'm sold. On you. The firearm and the company I'm excited to see where ss goes. Plus there from the great state of Texas. When I get back home to land in Texas. I'm picking up the Dr elite
Just wanted to say I really appreciate the detailed technical explanations. I reached out to Springfield with exactly the "what load at what distance are your sights tuned to" question for my hellcat pro and got a very wishy washy answer. Now I know that it was a) the only answer they could give and b) the correct answer. Just ordered an MR920 yesterday, if only it was before the rounds per magazine restrictions here in WA.
That was an excellent presentation, and I wish I'd seen it along time ago. It would have saved me some time at Cabela's wondering what bullet weight I should pick - when in fact that there wasn't much if any difference between them at normal handgun shooting distances.
You should consider chamber pressures mostly. 124 is often +p which will feel snappier than training ammo over 147 which is subsonic and feels more similar to training ammo recoil impulse wise.
I watched this video a little while ago and haven’t re-watched it...but I was looking for info on the MR920 to see if it can handle +P ammo. Just wanted to let everybody know, according to the user manual, it CAN fire +P ammo, however it does not recommend +P+.
ShadowSystemsCorp right. Also, if you see a good opportunity to buy one weight or the other, you can feel better about it vs. wondering about the results.
Definitely helpful! My 920 is on backorder until the end of September. I was wondering how the holosun was dialed in. This totally answered my question. So looking forward to this gun. Thanks for the video.
My optic wasn’t zero’d when I got it. I chose a reasonable self defense distance and just took a few shots at a time and made my adjustments. I did this during my break-in and by the time I was finished, I was ripping holes through the target with each hole touching the last.
@@zoolanderfred, you’re welcome. Mine was originally going to be the end of August, but it got pushed back with everything that’s going on. I think I got it around mid-September. It’s a great pistol and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! I’ve read somewhere where you don’t necessarily want to marry your red dot to where your irons line up, but by the time I got mine all dialed in, that’s about what happened haha.
dknollRX7 Thanks for that info, I wondered about that too. I’ll try to get back to you in a few months with mine squared away and let you know what I ended up doing.
hey trevor i have the mr920 combat elite but its impacting 3-4” over the target at 15yrds using 124gr sellier bellot. i had 2 other range officers shoot it and they had the same results. it seems like the front sight is way high. …. i called tech support and they sent me a lower rear and now its shooting 3-4” below ….what is wtong with my mr920?? i dont get why it has tall iron sights when i have the combat elite none optic cut… please let me know what i can do to fix this issue
His last comments are very similar to what us software developers think when people complain about errors in the application: the problem is between the keyboard and the chair. It's the shooter - not the gun people.
I got turned on your guns this weekend. At a local, gun dealer....traded a sig sauer p320 x carry spectue and traded a glock Mos 45 gen 5 . For for xr920 elite and a dr920. Fire arms are the best I've shot, and have been shooting for 20 + years. The xr920 is the most comfortable appendix every day carry its ever owned . The mags were only problem, I know you don't make those . The pistols didn't have any problems with 200rds per gun for break in.
Can you give us a video on how to sight in a red dot. I know my WPS pistole says it was dialed in from the factory but whoever sighted it must have been drunk that day.
Mine wasn’t zero’d when I got it (also the WPS). I just chose a reasonable self defense distance 10-15 yards and took a few shots at a time, then just made some adjustments, rinse and repeat. By the time I finished my range session and completed the break-in, I was grouping to the point where each hole was touching the other. My red dot was shooting noticeably low before I adjusted it.
This argument could coincide with the argument that no red dots are parallax free. Well even with that being true it doesn't matter. You won't even be able to tell the difference in the hits as long as the red dot is on the same target
I didn't like the sights AT ALL. I just had a really difficult time acclimating to the co-witness height sights. I do not run a red dot due to astigmatism and I'm a really, really good shooter with irons anyway (at the range twice a week, minimum). That said, like a dipshit I moved too quickly and bought a set of Trijicon HD-X sights. Oops. I forgot the rear sight placement isn't the same as a Glock. Fail. I called and spoke to someone at SSC who was super helpful and together we identified the appropriate set of Ameriglo sights to achieve what I wanted. Outstanding customer service. So if next Tuesday you could do this same video using my sights, yeah, that'd be great. Thanks in advance. LOL
@@UserConn Thanks. I don't know that Holosun products are readily available rights now though. They're being big time sued by Trijicon for patent infringement and are under a cease & desist order. That is my recollection.

My favorite part of my Tuesdays!
Awesome video. Useful information for those of us getting deeper into pistol shooting… quite different than rifle shooting for sure
His explanation of precise vs accurate helped me with some of my ME labs when extrapolating precise data sets from accurate data.
That was an excellent presentation, and I wish I'd seen it along time ago. It would have saved me some time at Cabela's wondering what bullet weight I should pick - when in fact that there wasn't much if any difference between them at normal handgun shooting distances.
I had this exact thought! Even the same location, Cabelas 😂

Great video...nice to see the graph. Thanks
Nice video. 👍
Very informative! I did not realize how tight those first 50 yards are.
You should do this for the new small guns and compensated guns
I love these technical Tuesday videos.
Dude that was fantastic! Got my War Poet on order, can’t wait!
Brandon, glad you liked it. Kind of nerdy, but sometimes understanding the details removes doubt when you take a shot. Trevor

@@zoolanderfred sounds good. Let me know if you have questions. I’m glad to help. This is my first optic on a pistol, so I wasn’t too sure, myself.
...the differential between the height of the front site and center line of the bore on a shadow pistol is about .653, that's ball park! lol
Solid.
I just got my war poet pistol in a couple days ago, it’s fantastic!
Also as a mechanical engineer I really enjoy these technical Tuesday’s!

So center-of-face shots out to 100 yards. Good to know.

What about aluminum cased like blazer aluminum

Great video!!
What I learned: the range of distances to train myself.

My WAR POET looked dead on with the irons... until I shot it at the range and the dot shifted hard to the left.
Why is the highest grain the slowest bullet?
Heavier weight
And that is why a hundred yard zero for rifles, especially precision rifle, is the best

Try the Holoson. It’s a circle with a dot. I can not stand red dots but when it has a circle around it I see it clearly.
I have stigmatism as well.

I have astigmatism also, most red dots don’t work for me. The Holosun works well for me.
I thought red dots would help with astigmatism, my holosun seems okay on my AR about 75 yards out
I want The Gun to Go Bang everytime I will shoot Hotter ammo until it will Run 115 .
It's always the Indian, and not the arrow that makes the biggest difference.
I’ve shot around 600 rounds of white box Winchester and around 300 blazer ammo through my 920 and not one issue. Love the gun it’s my main carry now.
Nice to hear! We build them to run, so carry with confidence. Glad you have had a positive experience with your MR920. Trevor
Hello, I ordered an mr920 with the compensator that just released from Shadow Systems, should I shoot 115 gr or 124 grain through it? Thank you!
Sooo I can shoot 115 grain I accidentally bought threw my MR920?🧍♂️
