Interesting and innovative design with the bottle pocket. Have to respect Alpaka for consistently trying new things and price-wise they’re great value.
Love this! Reminds me of a smaller version of the Alpha One Niner Chio X - super comfortable and convenient form factor. And that bottle holder is awesome, great for folks like me living in a hot and humid country.
When I travel in larger cities and wear a sling I always put a zip tie around the buckle using the same latch points that the buckle does so it wraps around the buckle and stops it from opening. The inconvenience of having to take it off over my head is more than worth the peace of mind to me.
May be an odd request; but would be cool to know if certain small point and shoot style cameras fit in the inner compartments of these bags. Like the Ricoh GR or Fuji X100 style cameras. As a photographer, these bags don't scream photographer bag but it's nice to carry a small camera for EDC use. (BTW, your Bellroy sling videos got me hooked with their products) 🎉
great questions! I'd recommend asking Alpaka, hopefully they can tell you about those specific cameras. If not, there's always a Bellroy bag that I'm sure will 😘
I would have preferred if Alpaka had come up with a nice, true messenger bag. They do so well with backpacks and slings, that it would have been cool to see their approach to a messenger
I would love to see a comparison of these types of bags because to me the 4L looks too big for just 4L, but since it is never placed side to side with others is difficult to be sure
reminds me of Lowepro sling camera bag with more pockets. My dream bag needs to team up with Peak Design for Slide style straps and make sure they are removable, add a an mag lock, zipper down one side for an expandable option
Planning to review the Inateck? I was debating between that and the NIID R0 which I believe is the "pioneer" of that type of design. Went for the NIID R0 because of the magnetic buckle
Aaron, all you did was demonstrate how much stuff could fit into the bag on the table, but you didn’t actually show how it works when worn on your back. Without that, it’s impossible to judge its real usability. What I wanted to know was whether this bag overcomes the typical difficulties with accessing items that are often associated with legacy bags of this kind. I’m looking forward to seeing that next time. Thanks!
I am looking for a 11 litre coyote brown Xpac messenger bag with an internal water bottle holder. Even better with a thick shoulder pad and blood orange internal lining for visibility.
Check out (and review please) the Alpha One Niner Chio-X, it’s 9L - similar style, has a couple water bottle holders, great organization, and amazing build and materials.
will you be reviewing the Alpaka Metro Crossbody soon? I think it’s a really interesting large sling they’re dropping soon, would love to see what you think!
@ I can’t even imagine!!! You’re putting so much good work out there though, keep it up! Would also love to see your opinions on the new Wandrd Nimbus dropping in February too
I honestly think the go-sling makes for a better satchel. A water bottle in the pocket destroys the internal space so hard in these and it’s weird that there’s no shoulder padding for a crossbody bag.
I’m still confused by the marketing of axoflux. They call it weatherproof, then in the kickstarter video they call it weather resistant. This is so important for purchase decisions.
totally! I think they look cool and offer an alternative to the typical bag silhouette (although it does come with a slight compromise in functionality)
@@chadsmo 100%. I wonder if the naysayers realize how well these types of bags fit your body. At the same time, I also get it. The shapes are technically more prominent with feminine bags, so hesitancy in adoption isn't shocking.
I just backed both. Yes the design looks kind of ugly, BUT the functionality seems promising in crowded area. I usually carry flight sling on daily basis with my iPad and camera inside and I hang water bottle on the side. It gets annoying when the water bottle swings around. This will solve the problem. It won’t be my daily bag but I will take it when I’m traveling in Europe and I want to carry bag in the front
It looks over stuffed when full and as you said the straps look to thin , If the firm was confident in them they would just produce them as normal , rather than doing a kickstarter to test the water , I prefer the slings from TomToc
thanks for your feedback! and yea that's the beauty of Kickstarter, small businesses can do a pre-order so they don't make too many products and have to throw them away. Win for the business, win for the customer, win for the planet 💪
One thing that I never understood , when you have a 2l, 4l, or 6l back , why insist to fully load the bag, carrying those bag like that it's like carrying a football , not sexy lol, respect the size, or carry a backpack :)
it's important for us to show the bags functionality in as many use cases as possible (including stuffed to the brim). But agreed, overpacked = less sexy
That bag looks like a cross between a women's cheap tote bag and the luxe Christian Dior women's saddle bag. Not a unisex look. Nice water bottle holder tho.
Established bag manufacturer rattling the Kickstarter can to fund a new product. Because they don't mark up their current bags enough to make enough profit... Or am I just being a cynical Brit? 🤪
@@jazenka99 so they take the money, test the interest, discover there is none so they decide not to produce bag then they refund all the money? Is that how Kickstarter works? Or is it because theyve used that as an income stream in the past and want to keep rattling the tin as long as people will donate to them?
I think Kickstarters are such a force of good an positivity and I really hope people can understand why. The gist is simple - a company runs a pre-sale and offers customers the product at a discounted price. This allows the company to see if there's demand, and to do a production run that is in line with demand. If the company does not reach their Kickstarter goal to run production, all the money is returned to customers. This means that the business wins (less risk) the customer wins (discounted price) and the planet wins (no excess stock that gets thrown into a landfill!)
@Nomads.Nation Kickstarters are great for new companies, trying to fund r&d on new products etc. But established brands that already charge a decent sum for their products? Nah, seems like they're just returning to a well they already successfully tapped and if they take money away from new companies in the process, that's a bad thing imo. But that's just me. Everyone's opinion will be different.

Interesting and innovative design with the bottle pocket. Have to respect Alpaka for consistently trying new things and price-wise they’re great value.
agreed!
Nice! This bag is IT! nice work Alpaka.
💪🏻

The video posted by Alpaka shows them putting a Ricoh GR in one of the inner pockets for both the 2L and 4L
GREAT AARON, that you already have the opportunity to review them both. Now I keep kickstarting.
THANK YOU 🫶🏽
I would have preferred if Alpaka had come up with a nice, true messenger bag. They do so well with backpacks and slings, that it would have been cool to see their approach to a messenger
hopefully one day!
I'm waiting for messengers to make a comeback outside of the cycling niche. Chrome bags don't really do it for me, personally.
The promotional video on ALPAKA shows the 4L also having the key leash, so it seems like they forgot to add it on yours.
I thought the exact same thing. Would be crazy not to have the leash on the 4L.
Backed!😊
Nice!!
The 4l looks like it would make a great diaper sling for all of the dads out there. The bottle pocket is clutch.
agreed haha
I would love to see a comparison of these types of bags because to me the 4L looks too big for just 4L, but since it is never placed side to side with others is difficult to be sure
we'll try and figure out a way to do this in future videos!
Very cool video, as usual! But I don’t know how to feel about this bag… but magnets rock 🤘🏻
magnets are always for the win 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hi Aaron. Hope you review the Alpaka Metro Crossbody bag as well :)
yeh i think the crossbody destroys this 😂
already shot, should be live in a few weeks!
How much more can fit in the metro..? Compared to the 4L Flow
I'm genuinely impressed you were able to say "water bottle" so many times without getting tongue tied!
its a gift lol
reminds me of Lowepro sling camera bag with more pockets. My dream bag needs to team up with Peak Design for Slide style straps and make sure they are removable, add a an mag lock, zipper down one side for an expandable option
hoping you get your dream collab one day!
I think it will be better with a detachable strap. Will the 2L able to fit in a switch?
don't have a switch so no idea, I'd recommend asking Alpaka
Planning to review the Inateck? I was debating between that and the NIID R0 which I believe is the "pioneer" of that type of design. Went for the NIID R0 because of the magnetic buckle
yup! should be live in a few weeks
You are right. Magnetic button are not safety. I used to fixed it by AA adhesive😂
nice!
Nice looking bag, looks similar to the Sealson M2 and M1 crossbody bags.
💪🏻
Using Bravo Sling Max from Alpaka
Great sling

thanks for your feedback!
I feel like the line between backpacks, slings and messenger bags has been quite blurred with these extra large slings.
it has been, gotta love the innovation!
The shape reminds me of the lowepro passport sling. Is this one big enough to fit a mirrorless camera?
Me toooooo but this one I think is definitely smaller hmmmm
not sure about the camera, might be best to ask Alpaka
I'm in the "no" magnetic locks for me club. That's the one reason I haven't gotten one of the smaller Bellroys.
Unfortunate, you’re missing out 😉
Aaron! What's your opinion on this vs the Toshi Sling?
toshi wins
Can you fit a iPad in the 4L?
Not sure, I’d recommend asking Alpaka
I am looking for a 11 litre coyote brown Xpac messenger bag with an internal water bottle holder. Even better with a thick shoulder pad and blood orange internal lining for visibility.
Very specific request lol, be sure to let us know when you find it!
but when you check the kickstarter, they do load it with a waterbottle in place. which is pretty cool, the strap might be my deal breaker
Check out (and review please) the Alpha One Niner Chio-X, it’s 9L - similar style, has a couple water bottle holders, great organization, and amazing build and materials.
I'll be sure to check it out!
Hail the Chio-X. I have one!
I like the design. I want a satchel, but bigger. I want to be able to fit my iPad Pro 11” with Magic Keyboard and like a switch lite.
could be a good option for ya!
Will you be reviewing the Alpaka Crossbody Bag?
already shot, should be live in 2-4 weeks

Id look into dsptch unit should slings/bags
will do!
Where can I get them?
Kickstarter right now
I feel like they did the waterbottle holder better on the Crossbody
agreed
I honestly think the go-sling makes for a better satchel. A water bottle in the pocket destroys the internal space so hard in these and it’s weird that there’s no shoulder padding for a crossbody bag.
love me the go sling
will it fit a 12.4" tablet for the 4L?
Be sure to ask Alpaka customer support and let us know what they say 💪🏻
I'll always love a sling with a bottle holder (more please!) yet not fond of the somewhat feminine curved shape
🤔
Like a somewhat refined cousin of the Maxpedition versipack.
I’ll have to take a look at that one
I’m still confused by the marketing of axoflux. They call it weatherproof, then in the kickstarter video they call it weather resistant. This is so important for purchase decisions.
Resistant would be more sensical. Think they use some sort of dwr coating on the fabric.
agreed, resistant is more likely
It's grandma's slinger. She uses a flat-water bottle or rather a whisky flask. Just a generic but functional.
whiskey flask will work perfectly in the water bottle holder lol
These slightly asymmetrical shoulder bags are getting popular.
totally! I think they look cool and offer an alternative to the typical bag silhouette (although it does come with a slight compromise in functionality)
It’s a good idea really because the bag follows the contours of your body when it’s on your side.
@@chadsmo 100%. I wonder if the naysayers realize how well these types of bags fit your body. At the same time, I also get it. The shapes are technically more prominent with feminine bags, so hesitancy in adoption isn't shocking.
magnet is a no go for me...I didn't know it was a magnetic clasp and will be canceling my backing 😭😭😭 had it been a traditional one, I'd still keep it
good thing you saw!
There is an update recently on the kickstarter that they are introducing new strap design. Do check it out
@@TheFar26 thank you for letting me know and will be reinstating my backing now lol. I'm glad they were open to feedback

the 4L will make a killer personal item for sure ✈️
Wonder if the steam deck fits
don't have one so not sure...
Can you fit an iPad Pro 11 in the 4L? It looks large enough to fit, but not sure. It does look like a nice bag.
not sure, I'd recommend asking Alpaka, be sure to let us know what they say!
The sizing on this is misleading. I’m not sure how they’re measuring it, perhaps excluding the water bottle pocket entirely?
not sure, I thought they were pretty close though

Alpaka fan too but these gravy boats are fugly.
the consensus seems to be pretty split - 50% like the design, 50% don't
@ luv dannys original reaction, the laugh says it all. Lol
The water bottle holder is innovative, but not implemented too well. I think this bag looks too much like a purse for most men (including myself).
a bit purse-y for sure
Overall design is interesting, but can't get past that water bottle pouch placement. Just throws everything off....
very interesting design for sure
It does look like it would nicely fit my DSLR camera, but it looks a bit too purse-like to walk around in public with that thing
I walked around in public with it, zero regrets lol
@Nomads.Nation I appreciate you. I now know that I do not want this one, it might be the next one
Diaper bag 🍼🧷🧻. For the Mamacitas!!
😜

yea its a vibe, won't be for everyone
Should have fill the water bottle to see how it holds
🤷🏻♂️
I like Alpaka, but this is not it tbh, at least not for me. The shape is odd, getting a bit too much purse vibes here. Thanks for the vid tho! ✌
def a different shape, bit more on the purse-y side fo sho
It's a Man Purse!
a badass man purse
I am a huge Alpaka fanboy but this gets a big NO
this will definitely be one of their more innovative/polarizing bag drops imo
Curious not a satchel person. Love the look especially the 4l.
Why
I love edc and one bag travel, especially using high tech materials, but satchels are traditional bags that should be made of leather.
Same, im really not a fan of the shape of the bag
Too much like a purse😂This should be a no go for any dudes lol
I thought I look pretty badass wearing it flex
It's a PURSE! Nothing more.
it’s a satchel, Indiana jones wore one
