Zoro received an education in the blade from Kuina's dad, who was the son of a Wano samurai. So his sword style and his training ARE linked to Wano, even if it's not 100% confirmed that he is a descendant of Ryuma.
Hey OP! Don't forget, a bit of a recurring theme in One Piece is Personal Ambition. You don't go anywhere just because you happen to be related to someone more famous. This statement was ironically enough first made when we first met Zoro. Helmeppo was the son of a Marine Captain but he was nothing more than a whiny brat until he finally found something worth fighting for with Coby. A message that's only been reinforced by the World Nobles who are arguably the biggest example of how lineage doesn't really mean anything. What matters the most in the world of One Piece is who you decide that you want to be. Zoro decided well before he even met Mihawk that he'd be the Greatest Swordsman in the World. Him maybe being related to Ryuma is more just icing on the cake.
Zoro is diffidently related to Ryuma, in the new SBS we get his family tree. Ryuma is probably his 2nd great or great grandfather. I like the similarities between all 3 of them, but it sucks that most in zoros family are dead. Ushimaru was an incredible samurai, especially when we see him and his friends with Yamamoto.
Even if Zoro is the son of Shimotsuki Ushimaru it really doesn't mean that he got strong simply because of his heritage, because that's not always true in One Piece. For example, how many of Big Mom's kids are pretty weak? Quite a few. Usopp is the son of Yasopp yet Usopp is still (unfortunately) pretty weak. Bonney isn't remarkably strong despite her father being a warlord with an incredible fruit (or at least she isn't strong compared to the other Supernova currently). That's not to say that genes don't play a factor in one's strength, especially in the cases of people like Yamato or Sanji, who's strength kinda hinges on their genes (One is an Oni and the son of Kaido, the other having straight up enhanced genes) but Zoro being the relative of a samurai just means that, if anything, he was destined to become a swordsman.
I think they just use this as a sort of "fate". Not that it was given to them for free, but rather that this is what they were meant to do and where they were always meant to be. Zoro is the descendent of Ushimaru's sister, btw. The family left wano and settled in the east blue. The sister married a Roronoa and both of Zoro's parents died, making him a street kid. Kuina is basically a third cousin, as she's a descendent of Ushimaru. It's been confirmed in the latest SBS.
@@b0ne91 Yeah I saw that. I still just feel like Oda gave us that family tree to explain his heritage because he alluded to the fact that be was going to during Wano, and then didn't. I don't think he did so to explain how Zoro is so powerful. Other characters like Yamato, Sanji, and Katakuri have much more solid reasoning for why their heritage makes them powerful, but Zoro's family has scarcely even been mentioned.

i kinda like the idea that zoro just coincidentally looks and acts like ryuma shimotsuki, and they don't necessarily have a connection. it doesn't need any elaboration. i'd prefer that to him just outright being his descendant
it's either that or the same form of reincarnation (inherited will? bloodline element?) where luffy is a second coming of joy boy, which i'd be cool with
Ever since the thriller bark fight, we already foresaw this coming. Aside from their similarities, ryuma also saw his resemblance on zoro whether unconsciously or not, but oda being oda as always will make it being another mystery for us.
Thinking back. This revelation is soo perfect. From childhood, he became connected to the family that created Ryuma's weapon, shusui, received another sword that will be on par with Shusui, Wado Ichimonji, then received a sword that is said to be capable of cutting Hell itseld, Enma in the land of Samurai, Wano. The birthplace of his legendary ancestor.
I’ve always wondered if Zoro’s name is a reference to the character El Zorro, the smash buckling vigilante of old California. The fact that Zorro is Spanish for “fox” and Oda has now connected Zoro to a kitsune seems more than coincidental.
Yeah, interestingly we have seemingly explored everyone's ancestry except for Zoro's. Dude just randomly appeared in the East Blue village and started training in Kuina's dojo.
Bro Wano and kaido were mentioned so early in the series it’s no wonder wano is the longest arc to date it’s kinda like how madara was hyped up for over 400 chapters bro I love how oda handled foreshadowing
It was discussed in the manga. Hyogoro and Kawamatsu talked about Zoro’s physical resemblance to Ryuma as Zoro was clashing with King. Furthermore, there’s a one-shot manga created by Oda called “Monsters”, telling the tale of young Ryuma, and young Ryuma was basically Zoro with black hair. This manga is very old and says nothing about Wano or Shusui being a Black Blade, Shusui isn’t even mentioned by name and its design is just like an ordinary sword, but that manga is canon to One Piece

It would be so much more amazing if Zoro resembles ryuma and ushimaru without sharing any blood with them. Like the spirit of swordsman is so strong they resemble each other without any connection but through sword alone
Nah, that would sound like some reincarnation bs. The will of the men will be inherited, obviously, like Luffy and Roger, but Luffy doesn't need to look like him to make it work.
What if the father of kuina brought zoro when he left wano? Maybe a relative of zoro entrusted Kuina's father, to take care of him. And zoro being a native of wano does make sense the way he was so obsessed with the sword like a true samurai.
Although the idea that Zoro is a descendant of Ryuma is cool and all, i prefer to believe that Zoro isnt one, he simply inherited Ryuma's will to be te greatest swordsman in the world

Zoro really doesn’t need a bloodline to prove his strength, and it’s too late to line anything up like that for his character. And I doubt we’re gonna double back to Wano.
I like it when most of the Strawhats used to be a bunch of nobodies.
1:01.. that background sound was so cool!!.. wonder what is the title,?want to download it and use it as my alarm everymorning
When the samurai of wano realised that they had no claim on shusui, because the blade is zoro's heirloom.
Zoro basically fought the corpse of his great grandfather which was the god of the blade at the same time, that's crazy!
To think that the second scar on the right side of the face it would be a oda-like foreshadowing that zoro will get the same scar in his face.
Zoro ancestor is ryuma and the blue hair guy is zoro great uncle
-Eats a lot of food
-Cuts a dragon
-refuses to elaborate
-leaves
Furiko shimotsuki is the one who raised zoro until age he reached ages 7 or 9 then she died leaving zoro to be orphaned however he was in the shimotsuki east blue residence when furiko died so zoro must've went about wandering as a child until finally coming to koshiros dojo
so every generation of ryuma wields one more sword? imagine zoros child
He probably holds the fourth sword by clenching it with his Butt cheeks 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's why kiydo said in the fight that he saw the sight of the king (ryuma) in zoro
Ryuma just got lost and accidentally reincarnated.
i kinda like the idea that zoro just coincidentally looks and acts like ryuma shimotsuki, and they don't necessarily have a connection. it doesn't need any elaboration. i'd prefer that to him just outright being his descendant
it's either that or the same form of reincarnation (inherited will? bloodline element?) where luffy is a second coming of joy boy, which i'd be cool with
So... cloning is a thing now in one piece
sbs said i was wrong, i still like my idea better but its not my story to tell
Ever since the thriller bark fight, we already foresaw this coming. Aside from their similarities, ryuma also saw his resemblance on zoro whether unconsciously or not, but oda being oda as always will make it being another mystery for us.
Reincarnation at it's finest 👏
Or, he could've inherited that man's will
What would a Sword-God's Lineage Will be?
Thinking back. This revelation is soo perfect. From childhood, he became connected to the family that created Ryuma's weapon, shusui, received another sword that will be on par with Shusui, Wado Ichimonji, then received a sword that is said to be capable of cutting Hell itseld, Enma in the land of Samurai, Wano. The birthplace of his legendary ancestor.
I've been waiting for this for a long time
Shimotsuki Zoro
I still can't believe this scene wss over 10 months ago
I’ve always wondered if Zoro’s name is a reference to the character El Zorro, the smash buckling vigilante of old California. The fact that Zorro is Spanish for “fox” and Oda has now connected Zoro to a kitsune seems more than coincidental.
Bro yo is spitting my boay!
the bandana
All hats off to oda but I still think it was a great missed opportunity for him for Zoro to know about his connection with Wano kuni
Zoro didn't make a promise to a friend (Kuina), but to family.
The blood of Sword God Shimotsuki Ryuma still lives in Zoro and his Master Koushirou the last Male Descendents of him
Yeah, interestingly we have seemingly explored everyone's ancestry except for Zoro's.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but, how did Zoro swing downwards with his left arm, when his sword on his mouth is blocking the way 1:21?
Determination
When you have determination, nothing stands in your way. 🗿
@@K-J-A🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice notice tho
Zoro has always been the main character of one piece
If the idea that Joyboy had a crew nearly identical as Luffy's, imagine Joyboy had a swordsman who was Ryuma's ancestor.
Maybe Ryuuma was Joyboy’s friend
Mark my words My man ZORO gonna surpass Damn GODS 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️
i dont remember this in manga but they make it so obvious in anime so its safe to consider zoro is the descendant of ryuma theory is 100% true
@@OG3796X at most it was one page mentioned
@@cam0x195 Obviously they extend the manga pages in the anime to gain some screen time, otherwise the anime would’ve caught up to the manga a long time ago, and they need to keep a gap between the anime and the manga
It was mentioned but not in depth
Zoro needs a proper flashback . He is the only strawhat left aside from luffy’s mother angle .
Guys I made up a theory about end of One piece
Fact one THE REAL JOY BOY 800 YEARS AGO ITS ALSO LUFFY HIMSELF. LUFFY WILL TRAVEL TO THE PAST
AND ALSO THE RORONOA IS RYUMA THEY BOTH TRAVEL TO THE PAST.THE FACT IS RYUMA ALSO ONE EYED SHORDMAN
Minority hunter zoro at his finest
Man the the OST is Gold
The ost name is battle scar.
@@thomaskennedy5728 Thanks but not the slow one. The epic one at the end.
@@thomaskennedy5728 Finally Found it. The name is Luffy's Fierce attack
Oda was waiting lifetimes for this reveal.
Ushumaru is zoros great grand uncle in other words that dude what the brother of zoros Grandma both great gret and don't know how many great grand children of riuma
Shimotsuki zoro.😂😂😂
this was probably the best arc for them to add onto zoro’s backstory but to be fair if they did wano would be a little longer in length than it is now
Imagine if ANYONE of these people asked Zoro where he's from, and he says the name of his village.....looks like the former Diaymo and has Wano's prized katana
Uncle Yasu couldn't tell him, but c'mon, if Toko finds a letter later...
The reincarnation of Ryuma
Anime feels like it’s being played at half speed
Ryuma wanted to fight the King (himself)
Zoro fought King
Shimotsuki Ushimaru is the brother of his grandmother : Shimotsuki Furiko .!
It looks as if Ushimaru was the previous user of the Wado Ichimonji sword. He also used a white sword.
The Ryuma spin off (although idk if it’s cannon) confirms he was the strongest in the world
Ig Zoro’s backstory is the one we never got yet
It would be so much more amazing if Zoro resembles ryuma and ushimaru without sharing any blood with them. Like the spirit of swordsman is so strong they resemble each other without any connection but through sword alone
Nah, that would sound like some reincarnation bs. The will of the men will be inherited, obviously, like Luffy and Roger, but Luffy doesn't need to look like him to make it work.
@@zannchristothat's true, and zoro don't have the WILL OF D.
Shame wani didnt shine any light on zoros past
You are not fighting Oden this time, you are fighting both Joyboy and Ryuma’s successor!
Woah... Seems like he's following in his dad's footsteps, even when he got lost so easily.
Of course Zoro’s Doppelgänger would be from Wano. Why am I not surprised. Lol
I think Ryuma was the zombie skeleton samurai which zoro fought in the haunted castle
Plot twist: Zoro is his son but got lost when he was walking around and ended up in the east blue.
What if the father of kuina brought zoro when he left wano? Maybe a relative of zoro entrusted Kuina's father, to take care of him. And zoro being a native of wano does make sense the way he was so obsessed with the sword like a true samurai.
And don't forget about Zoro's evil brother: Down D. Stairs who killed his rival as a child.
Can't believe Oda confirmed Zoro is Ryuuma's descendant in a fucking SBS. loool
damn, i got chills! from what episode is this?
You were very accurate.
technically giving Ryuma the shadow of Brook just makes him weaker
Zoro was damn lucky to fight Ryuma possessed by Brook's shadow. 😅
One Piece would have ended at Thriller Bark if Zoro really fought Ryuma's shadow.
Did anyone else mistook the white hair in the thumbnail for Luffy gear 5?
Although the idea that Zoro is a descendant of Ryuma is cool and all, i prefer to believe that Zoro isnt one, he simply inherited Ryuma's will to be te greatest swordsman in the world
He carries the will of ryuma like luffy and joy boy they might even be related
Kuina Dojo symbols is two swords, same as Ushimaru Shimotsuki tattoo
they said ryuma was known for cutting a dragon .
so it means ryuma defeated the previous user of kaido's fruit.
