2/20/23. Just woke up in the hospital. The doctors tell me it was alcohol poisoning, that I'm lucky to be alive. The last thing I remember is watching the first 7 minutes of a bleach video... everything after that is fuzzy. I can't feel my tongue, my stomach is in so much pain... The only sound that remains in my head, replaying over and over, is "Kurosaki Ichigo"...

Now it makes a lot more sense what Byakuya said: "this little thing is a bankai? Don't step at my pride", because indeed it wasn't.
Yamamoto did something very similar though. But then again, it's more or less a variant of it.
I heard someone saying it’s stated that Bankai are always bigger than a Shikai. It’s pretty interesting since Ichigos bankai is both the sword and the cloak he wears. Technically it is bigger.

i rewatched this byakuya vs ichigo fight so many times as teenager. i remember downloading a new episode every week from a fan bleach site when i was 18. they also did "ghetto/slang" subs for bleach. it was so dope. Instead of a eng sub line like "i was deceived by your skill?" they translator wrote it as "i was da one trippin the whole time?" it had a lot of gems like that for the subs. ahah they did this for every episode. this was 18 years ago

@@jerrygreenest last episode of tybw ichigo has a self realization about what they were doing and realized it was them protecting them his hollow being more aggressive about his weaknesses due to not being truly acknowledged as part of ichigos power it cause similar distress seen in kenpachi or yumchikia or renji who all had issues in some way with their blade causing them to not truly cooperate but still want to protect them.

When you look in big 3 Ichigo is the most matured and stoic of them. (Naruto is a complete child with little dark past, Luffy is just a happy child on dream road.) Other MC's like Goku, Natsu, Alibaba, Gon, Asta, Yusuke, Tanjiro, Yuji are not mature either.
Sure there are some MC's that are more intelligent/mature like Light or Lelouch, but they are only in shorter anime's not 200+ episodes.
@@rzymski1974 I think among those names you've mentioned, I think Tanjiro is a little more mature compared to the others. Although I agree, Ichigo has a lot of development and different moods throughout the show like depression etc thats why he feels a lot more relatable compared to the other MCs that are kinda just one dimensional for the most part.

Byakuya's actions here are to induce shock and disrupt oxygen / blood flow.
1 - The calves are designed in a way to send blood back up to the heart. Basis of cardio. Stabbing ichigo in the foot not only restricts his movement, but causes blood to leak through the wound.
2- Blasting him through the shoulder accomplished the same goal. Weaken the opponent by targeting clusters of arteries and veins.
Both injuries are also on the right side of his body, Ichigo's dominant hand. Ichigo lost complete control over his ability to breathe in a moment.
*Spoilers for TYBW ahead*
Because Isshin was in a Gigai at the time and soul bound to Masaki, he lost his shinigami powers. Meaning that Ichigo is a natural born Quincy masquerading as a soul reaper. Getsuga tenshou is firing pure spiritual pressure at his target, when normal zanpaktou convert spiritual pressure into something. So Ichigo's power is abnormal, and this is why Byakuya and other soul reapers are always so surprised by what he can do.
Whenever Ichigo is gravely injured, he's actually relying on an extremely dormant version of blut vene to mitigate the damage he receives, and the more he pulls on his soul is why his hollow takes over. Same thing with asking Zangetsu (Ywachs latent reiatsu), White takes over as well. White is parasite that made it's way into Ichigo's soul, and has actually fused with him. White is to Ichigo like your arm or leg. Ichigo has to summon white by basically pleading for a win when he fights both Byakuya and Ulquiorra
The more he uses his shinigami powers the more the White comes out. White is core of his shinigami powers

I've been following this anime since 2006. The best way to describe it: its soundtrack forces you to maximum discipline regardless of how much practice you have in it. I implore every man to have that level of resolve. There is no discipline without pain.

Azien even at 4th hongyoku evolution could not sense dangai ichigo reiatsu, and true shikai ichigo is on par with dangai, true bankai adds a 10x multiplier to that

This is not the full fight, it is heavily cut. The whole part before he inites his bankai is missing, where they argue about why Ichigo thinks he could possibly defeat Bykuya while still in his Shikai.
It kills the whole atmosphere cutting that out.

Yeah, I always thought that since the cloak only appears in Bankai that piece of cloth wraps around him and turns into it since it actually is a part of his zanpakuto

Honestly mang, if there’s one thing I’d change about Soul Society arc, it’s the final battle. It’s should’ve been Ichigo vs. Sasakibe. We could’ve had someone who’s likely more powerful than most captains (given that he’s quite old and has trained with Yama and given him his trademark scar) and has a decent motive for facing Ichigo (you could say he felt personally insulted that Ichigo tried going against Yamamoto’s orders or something like that). Plus, this would’ve given us some showcase of how strong both his shikai and bankai are. The fight we got was still has epic as Bleach’s fights go, but man Sasakibe got shafted throughout most of the series and I would’ve loved for him to have a true showcase somewhere.

I loved the way they showed spiritual pressure in the early episodes - the streaky verticle lines in the art. The modern animation never really captured the way it seemed to make the air sizzle.

My favorite part of this whole encounter is how Byakuya never takes him too serious. Most of what he does is intended to shut down Ichigo instead of kill him.
But it's still cool to see Ichigo freak out and let White play a bit. Makes for awesome scenes.

People say white was mean but there were alot of zanpakuto that were kind of an ass to their wielder. White still defended and helped ichigo.
White is more to ichigo then a zanpakto is , hes actually part of ichigo that formed a sword not a zword that later became he wielderd power
So epic
General consensus is that bleach takes place over a 7 month period, and then only a few weeks after timeskip. Essentially ichigo went from struggling with low level hollows to killing god in about 8 months.
And the final time skip is 10 years on. While ichigo’s power ramp up will have slowed after that time after having no reason to need to get stronger, his natural affinity from being the ultimate life form would mean his powers would just continue to grow and grow naturally. Surely he must not be allowed to actually do anything anymore right? Like the guy could quite easily manhandle captains without even using his zanpakuto anymore. His very presence could absolutely cripple large portions of the soul society and any souls stuck in the real world as well.

I know it's late but I just like to theorize...
The acquisition of Bankai have 2 methods here
1 normal, where SoulReaper gets their normal sword evolve into Shikai and eventually Bankai via training and battle experience.
2 Urahara method, by manifesting and eventually defeating your own Zanpakuto, this method is direct and will give you instant access to Bankai and I think you'll have stronger power than normal person who just acquired his Bankai, but there's also risks including the fact that you SHOULD defeat your Zanpakuto and not being defeated instead, lastly you might get too much power all at once resulting in you being unable to use it properly and the risk of being crushed by your own power or relatsu of your own Bankai, ironically
To those who wondering why, Ichigo win easily at first when he use his Bankai. It's not like he slowly run out of stamina or become weaker, his hollow slowly absorb Zangetsu power. It was confirm during Vizard training when Ichigo confront his inner hollow why it's not zangetsu that greeted him instead. His inner hollow explain, the more Ichigo try to draw out Zangetsu power, the more easy his inner hollow absorb it instead so zangetsu become part of his inner hollow instead. That's why Byakuya couldn't react when Ichigo disappear and end up point his katana to his throat, it's not because of coincidence or like ups moment, it was because at that very point Ichigo is really strong fresh out with his Bankai, but when the fight stall and time pas by notice how Byakuya able to follow his movement? That is because his hollow already absorb some of his power slowly. Even Byakuya said it here during Sekei ... Ichigo movement become slow, is not because Byakuya get faster .... it's because Ichigo getting weaker the more he fights and try to draw out Zangetsu power the more his hollow siphon it.

When Ichigo pulled off the mask, Byahkuya kind of understood that Ichigo never intended to do him harm - he just wanted to stop him. Because if it had continued, for sure White would have done serious damage to Byakuya.

The story would be finished in less than 10 episodes.
Kenpachi wouldn't even need his full power against Byakuya or Gin, he could just slap them and they'd be dead.
Aizen would play all his "I'm so smart and here is my strongest attack" and Kenpachi would laugh and cut Aizen in half.
I see why Kubo kept Kenpachi away from real fights, it was to protect the big bad guy so they could slowly lose to Ichigo instead of losing to Kenpachi in 0.00001 seconds.

This isnt even Ichigo at his strongest at this level. He’s still covered in wounds and his wrappings are still keeping him together from his previous escapades. This is why his Bankai wore him out so fast.
