Wow, I was stationed there 90-92, minus a few months in the Gulf. I see my old barracks room window, mess hall, PX and the bar. Sure brings back memories!
I was stationed at Ray Barracks in 1975 with CSC 1/36Inf 3rd AD... I used to walk by Elvis's 3/32 Barracks all the time going out the main gate.. I was there from 1975-1978.. Met my wife there in 1976, She is now deceased in 2020. My oldest son TOMMY is there today 8/18/2021 to bury her ashes in the familie Platz.. WOLFGANG, SCHWARTZ by her Mom, Dad and Sister. Although this video is quite newer than when I was there it still shows my barracks there and the back (Fooze) gate I used to meet my wife at when she went to school there..Thank You for the nice drone video. SSG(r) Tommie Taylor 2021 PS.. Ate many meals in the Elvis Presley Mess Hall and watched many races on the back 40 race track.. We used to race half tracks with 327CI Engines. I worked part time as a projectionist at the theater showing THE HINDINBURD and ONE FLEW OVER THE COCOO's NEST..lol
I was stationed there with 1/36 inf 1975-1978 by the rear gate, Ate at Elvis Mess hall lots of times.. I worked also as a projectionist at the theater as a part time job.

God the video makes me cry every time .... I was born on this post (3rd AD 1977), raised on this post, got my drivers licenses on this post and ironically got stationed on this post with 1st AD. ....and for the once that know the area, I lived in FLORSTADT ... went to school beside the post..... man I can't thank enough for these videos of "RAY BARRACKS" ...thank you again.
Dam... How much I miss Friedberg Germany. I walked those streets in 2003 to 2007. Cco 2'37 AR. If only I can turn back the hands of time I would live there again and go through every thing I went through again.
Thanks for posting. Brought back lots of memories. I was in 1/36 INF in the early 2000's. Outside the maingate was a little place that sold great Schnitzel Sandwiches. Not to mention the smell of the bakeries as we ran downtown in the mornings.
Best post I've ever been stationed at. '00 to '02. Friedberg Haufbrauhaus best steak on a rock ever. The studio on Friday Nights, the Hard Rock, and the chinese restaurant on the corner. Oh and the Villa Calabria on post italian restaurant and the bowling alley. LOL damn I missed that place. HHC 1ST BDE, 1AD. Go Hammers!!!
I was there from sept 03 to June 07 and deployed twice with B Co. 1-37 AR BN I was one of the last to PCS out of there and miss her dearly, great place, great unit, great time in life!
That just breaks my heart. Lots of great memories there. Went to Giessen High the first year it was open. Everyday was at least a hour bus ride from Butzbach, then Bad Nauheim (unless I walked to the Giessen Bahnhof and hopped a train home.
Unless they replaced it later, that Bandit logo at :45 wasn't taken from the tower. I painted it on that stone. I did the Old Ironsides one to the left of it too. Can't remember the year but it was sometime between 94-96 I think. I would have been Spc. Jason Douglas at that time. Also helped paint the logos on the Gym floor. A 4/67. Thanks for posting these. Memories.
noxxville I was there that same time !! A bunch of my buddies were in alpha company ! Acres was my home boy from Michigan, wow !! My name was Spc. Victor Reyes .
Arrived in Freidberg in a driving snow in October 1968 and left with snow on the ground for two month in January 1970. Have great memories and enjoyed my time there. Lots of memories. Jim Woodrum, Sgt, 1967-1970.
How's things in Casey County Jim? In reading a lot of these posts it brings back a lot of GOOD memories. I think that after leaving in Dec. 69 that things were dramatically changing. I knew some that smoked a little grass, but that was about all. I guess the really hard stuff came later.
This is where I was stationed when I met my wife. She is from a town near there named Karben. We have been together for 10 years now. I really miss this place, and I can't believe it is shut down.
Thank you for this video ! In that gazebo you were standing, was an amazing party in 1995 ! 4/67 had a battalion party in both barracks and all floors. Some body called a bomb threat and the party was over , great times though ! Bandits hooah!
I was a dependent at Friedberg from 70-73. Went to 5/6/7 grades at Bad Nauheim and 8th at Frankfurt. Great times playing basketball and "around-the-house" at the basketball court. Also played little league baseball for the blue hats and jv for Sgt Atkins. Some good times and good friends growing up there.
B co. 1/36 INF '01-04 I was back over in Germany and made a day trip here in '08, but front gate was chained up. After watching these videos, I'm kicking myself for not checking the back gate so I could go around base again. Did stop by Hoffbrauhaus, Hard Rock & Mekong, though.
I was station at Ray Barracks 1964, I came there February 16 1964, will never forget it, had a great time, met some great people there. My company was 144th Ord, right at the front gate, we use to go downtown to Firedberg and get them flip tops beers. I live in Bad Nauheim off post,it was beautiful country. I was in Germany for two years. This is where I became a man,I was only 22 years old then, first time away from home.
i was stationed there from '89 til'91,it brings back memories,i almost didn't recognize 2/67 armor bn's hhc barracks,it had been so long, not to mention all the beers i drank while there!i'm trying to contact people who were stationed there, particularly 2/67 ,so hit me up if you were there!also looking for my best bud, paul morris, from pensacola fla.i'd like to hear how everyone is doing!

2:41 was home for me... they had made some changes to 'the quad' since I was there! It was never grassy in the late 80s! Was a large sandy open space only... with temporary offices on the east side.
I was at Kirchgoens and then Giessen depot with 2/3 FA and somtimes went to Friedberg. People told me this is where Elvis was stationed. Is that correct? I liked how the base in Friedberg resembled a castle. I also loved the actual old castle downtown that was nearly sold to be sent to Las Vegas piece by piece! Thank goodness they didn't go through with that.
Wow! I was looking up a girl I dated back then and saw this video. I was station at Ray Barracks in 1977-79 with 227 battery company with the supply unit there. I would love to visit someday. Thanks for the memories RoadKing!
