It was a great duty station and it was crazy closing it down from February to July 2007. I was one of the last to leave and helped load all the old tanks on flat beds right towards the end.
Thank you for posting this. I was stationed there in 85-88. Talk about your stroll down memory lane! The people of Friedberg were so hospitable. Wonderful people and a wonderful country.
Great video clip, it brought tears to my eyes. I was stationed in Ray Barracks. Great Americans served our country proudly in this place. Thanks again! CSM Gonzalez, A/501st FSB 1SG 2000-2005
Thanks for posting this. I was there from 88-91 B Co 54th support Bn. I saw my barracks in part 3 and it brought back a lot of memories. It was very moving for me thanks again
Thanks for bringing back memories. I was stationed there for 4 years, 1986 - 1990. How many of you used to get your hair cut by the same barber that cut Elvis Presley's hair? I did :-)
I was stationed here from 58-60. Elvis served the same time I did, but he lived off base in Bad Nauheim. He drove his MG back and forth to base. He made rank, PFC, and passed out big cigars. To my wife's dismay, I smoked it. He was a real gentleman and a great soldier. My wife was there with me living in Friedburg. Standing on the corner at the bus stop with some other American GI's wives. Elvis would come around the corner in his MG and wave, and they would melt. Thanks for video!
Thanks Roadking for posting this and your other Germany videos. I was station there 1980 to 1983 with 1/32 Armor. Ate many a meal in the Elvis Presley dining hall. Lived in the Bad Nauheim housing area and my wife ran the ACS in Geissen. I was also direct commissioned to 2lt from E5 while there. Had the party in the officers club, don't remember much about that. We were also the Canadian Army Trophy unit in 1981. Great memories that will always be with me.
Thanks for posting this. I was C Co 1/36 from 2000-2002. The Chow Hall you labeled as Elvis' was actually the infantry Chow hall. I think the Elvis Dining Facility was across Post...somewhere around the Armor Barracks. I think I only ate there once when our INF Chow hall was closed for a spell. This video takes me...waaaayyyyy back!
Was stationed in Butzbach not far from Ray Barracks been here numerous times......I really miss Germany it was the best placed I have lived and I have lived and visited all over the world!!! Germany truly is Wonderful!!!
Thanks so much for uploading this video. I haven't seen these buildings since I left in 1990, and I feel a strange homesickness. Friedberg was where I spent some of the best and worst years of my life. I miss it so much. Central Studio, the Spotlight, The Joint...I could go on and on. Pillars of Thunder.
WoW, This video has brought back alot of memories. This was my first enlistment duty station, and where I met my wife and married now 9 years. Bandits!! 4/67 then 1/37 Armor. Delta Company Death Riders!!! SGT Revia.Oscar

I was there from Sept. 68-Dec. 1969 with C 3/32 Armor. Really hard recognize much of anything familiar since all the changes that have been made. Would love to hear from anyone stationed in Friedberg during this period. Thanks to everyone for serving.
Great memorys!!! I was there in april 2003 as german soldier with the 6. company-armored infantry 411. I was thinking i am dreamin as i see the sherman that was painted pink!
Thanks for the video. It brought back fond memories. I was stationed at Ray Barracks 1973-74 with 2/27 Field Artillery. My only regret is that I didn't have much money and time to really enjoy Friedberg. The town looks the same. Barracks are updated but still recognizable.
This video gives me chills from start to finish. I absolutely loved it in Germany. Especially going downtown to the Studio (aka the Booty hole) lol and hangin' with my boys. Shane, Jason, Hugo, David, Bergman, Cook, Forsythe, Flip, Garcia, Reaver, Rod Dawg (ME), and Chris. Damn this just brings it all back at once. I loved it there and I always will. HHC 1ST BDE, 1ST AD HAMMERS!!!
Thanks Roadking. My Dad was the Army Education Advisor, Jim Fallon, from 1961-1974 with headquarters in Friedberg and stations at Butzbach and Kirchgoens. I grew up in Bad Nauheim and Friedberg and it was great to see the kaserne again after all these years, and I will say that the beauty of military kasernes is that not too much has changed. After all those years riding in the back of my dad's car to and through Ray Barracks, your video transported me back in time. Many many thanks.
was a dependent at Friedberg from 70-73. Went to 5/6/7 grades at Bad Nauheim and 8th at Frankfurt. Great times playing basketball and "around-the-house" at the basketball court. Also played little league baseball for the blue hats and jv for Sgt Atkins. Some good times and good friends growing up there.
Thanks for the video, was stationed here 95-98 with 1/37 C team Maintance. Found out while i was there my father was stationed in same unit and company back in 68-70. At that time it was 3AD. Loved the Bretzal Shack there. Wife was alway craving when she was prego. Lived in Butzback where my brother was stationed back in 87 or so. Went to Bosnia with them to Camp Colt, Alpha 1, 3, can't forget Emeral city or gunnery in Hungary. Great times for sure will miss it all.
TIM!!! Oh my God it's great to hear from you man! YES, I remember your paintings. I managed to keep the one of the man facing the maze until just six years ago when it was destroyed in a move. And, yes, I remember them all. Dunn, Roth, Noble, and the rest of the guys. Remember Col Schnare from Delta company? He was my Gunner in Desert Storm. Do you remember 1st Sgt Brack? His wife opened a little Korean restaurant outside of Ft Knox that I ate at all the time.
Wow! you dont even know what this did for me! I grew up here and my mom was a Sgt. here when I was a kid from 82-86 and i remember this so vividly! Thank you so much for posting this!
I was stationed there 1987-1991. Young and Dumb years. I just noticed how much nicer & less cluttered german towns look than ours without all the telephone pools
brings back so many memories. I was there in HQ & HQCOMP 3d BDE 3rd AD from Jan 1972 to Dec 1973. there were hard times and there were good times but lots of memmories. I was an e4 with wife and child living on the economy in a little town of Rodgen just east of Bad Nauhiem. many times I walked the 5 ks to work and back.
My beloved home from 1985-1988 at HHC 1-36 inf., 3rd armored division. Proud to be a Spartan! Definetely the time of my life - I would love to catch up with all my friends from that time. If you knew me - I was the one putting fuel in your Bradley - send me a reply. - Sp4 D.A Boone
Thanks for the video. I have viewed it a number of times. I was there 1964-66 in a Hawk battery. Our missile site was out at the training area near Ockstadt and our billets were at Ray Barracks. Had lots of friends and acquaitances in 3AD. Looks like Ray Barracks expanded a good bit since the time I was there. I don't think those red buildings were there then, at least I don't remember them, but that was a long time ago for me.
I was stationed there 1994-1996 with the 60th Ordnance Company. I'm planning on heading over this summer and drinking some dunkel at the Friedberger Brauhaus. Chad
I was there from 4,76, till 3, 79 "3rd Armored!" and we mostly on weekend, when we had free..rented the mopeds and rode around till the castle park! had lots of fun at the "Glass Onion" bier stube! met my Ellen!"♥
thanks for the videos. I was there 12/87-4/90 with SVC BTRY 2/82 FA, all 3AD. I was a track mechanic on the 109's. Ran a Service truck for C BTRY and was on A BTRY's team also. It would be nice to have more info on the buildings as you drive by. look me up on Facebook for anyone that served at Ray Barracks during my time. Dave Sherman
Incredible video, it brings back so many memories. I was stationed here from 1977 through 1980 with CSC 1/32 Armor, Redeye section. Stay alert, stay alive, stay Redeye!
I was at Ray Barracks from '72 to '75 with the 2/27 FA. Great videos. Definitely takes me back. Folks these days have no idea what we did back then. It would have been a different world, for sure, if we hadn't. I miss the place. Thank you for sharing.
Great memories of Germany I was 18 years old. I was stationed there from 1981-1984 2nd Bn 27th FA (M109's). I remember my first Octoberfest, Grafenwöhr, Elvis Presley's mess hall. Also remember going to the clubs in the sachsenhausen area in frankfurt.
I was one of the last guys out of there, left the 28th of july that year. Kinda sad watching this, remembering all the runs down that town street, the drunk stumbling back to the infantry barracks, the fucking bradley motorpool, Chow hall, hardrock cq,our fucking building, burger king and library and bank, the px, battalion, brigade. I miss that old town and it's people. Hard to believe our home turned into a ghost town. 1st Pl C-co 1-36
Was there from '85-'88 in 3AD 4/67 as a Medic supporting the Wardogs Tank Company. 1st Sgt Charlie Young was a class act and the Wardogs was consistently the best in their training exercises. Some good and bad memories. Sad to see the old place go to hell. Just retired early from my Government job. It's on my bucket list of places to visit. Remembered tying my old boots strings together and throwing it over the phone wires in the last week before my separation as was the custom.
Thanks for the memories. I was stationed there in !962-63. Got there just after Elvis left. 3rd Armor, HQ Co. Wheel and Track mechanic. Would like to hear from anyone that was there at that time. Had some fine times in Friedberg as a very young man.;-0)
Man, what a head trip. I was looking for something else and landed here. The last time I looked at these buildings was in October, 1969. I was an 11E armor crewdog with C Co.3/32nd Armor, 3rd AD 1967 - 1969. A hell of a lot has changed in the intervening 38 years. I still miss that place, the town and the people I knew. (However like some others I don't miss those 0200 move out alerts etc.) Thanks for posting all of the vids you did. Great Stuff, I'll be back once in a while just to ............
Thank you for the video. i was stationed at Ray Barracks in 1968 and was the second platoon leader, C Company 3rd of the 32nd. An old French M4 Sherman was parked by the flagpole at on the main parade ground. An artillery batallion station on the post painted it red at one point. The Sherman was an American WWII tank obvously left over and every so often we'd climb down into the turret. All the various lables stenciled in the turret were in French.
Thanks for this video I was station at Ray in 1964 to1965, at 144ord, had a great time at Ray, I also live off post in Frieberg, left there and went up north Germany in 1965 to 1966
I was a dependent at Friedberg from 70-73. Went to 5/6/7 grades at Bad Nauheim and 8th at Frankfurt. Great times playing basketball and "around-the-house" at the basketball court. Also played little league baseball for the blue hats and jv for Sgt Atkins. Some good times and good friends growing up there. I used to live here at 11-1 Am-Dachspfad.
This brings back memories. Bandit from 1979-1981 with the 1/32 Combat Engineers. Assigned as AVLB driver but OJT'ed as PLL Clerk. This was my first enlisted station. I often think about the good guys I served with.
thank you sir for the great video lots of memories.i was there 1982-1984 122 maint battalion change to 3rd support.i worked 3rd shop on a contact team for the 132 armor battalion elvis presleys old unit that was my combat unit i trained with and supported.i been to elvis presley dinning facility.he built the mess hall back when it burned down.good picture of the rock from kg
I was an MP at Ray(t) Barracks from 89 until 91. I remember 3 things. San Remos (fine Italian fare), launching my brand new Celica off the hill next to the Education Center, and kicking our share of ass downtown ( Blood Alley). Also paying $2 more to get your hair cut in the chair Elvis got his cut in. Good Times...
MrFrogmasterG MrFrogmasterG I was there 87-89 at D Co .. I used to hang with Nobel.. We were on The Nijmegan team together in 88.. I also remember SGT.Espinosa he was a cool guy!
My Ex husband was stationed there from 04-07. I lived in Alvin York Housing in Bad Nauheim which was torn down a few years ago for newer buildings. I often pass by Ray Barracks and the Kaserne is turning into total wilderness. Friedberg doesn't know what to do with it.

I was there 70 -73 Tracked vehicle mechanic. 1/36 Inf. Home 8 months then returned 73-76 tracked vehicle mechanic 2/27 Artillery. Loved everything but the frequent field training. Lived in Bad Nauheim. Had an olive green 1955 vw. Would have stayed there forever but they said I had to do stateside so I said no and got out in 76.
Hey neighbor! Me from '76 till '79 barracks! We were cross the road from MP's in the Elvis barracks! When he died in '77, we had a really sad day! (day off and went downtown on our rented mopeds to the Glass Onion! Got wasted too LMAO! 3rd AD "Vicrory or Death on our patches!" 1st Sergeant Friedman! But old black as coal man with a really big heart for Elvis! I Loved those days! Tanks loading on the tracks headed to Grafenwoehr!
I was at Katterbach Kaserne, 45 minutes or so out of Wurzberg, 97-99 with my dad when he was stationed in germany. I remember being able to go on and off base freely with not alot of problems, but my dad said all that changed after 9-11.
I loved this place so much the Barracks and town was so much fun With All my dads friends (Sgt.Jeff Herdebu)....God I would just love to visit that old place and remember everywhere I was when I was there if you know him or me please comment or like. Thank you Edward J Herdebu
The video brought back alot of memories. I was there from 96-99. I had forgotten till just now but do you remember doing the poor mans jeep painting. I miss the old Deathriders still in touch with a couple of them. It was nice to see a familiar name on here take care Oscar
Was there in 80-81 at HHC 1st BDE, 3rd AD, was a 63B but got sweet assignment to be Company clerk in XO's office and got out of motorpool. My brother was resident of BOQ and one night we went into town with his friends to a pizza place and place was robbed while we sat there but didn't realize what had happened, the perp had the money in a pizza box and carried it out without any of us in the dining room noticing what had happened until he was out the door. Wild memory from 30 yrs ago...
Hi, do you remember a very short white female named Busie (sp), she was the only mechanic female at that time? I was the only puertorican female in my unit I arrived in 1979 and left sometime in 1981. Anyway I am trying to locate Busie, I don't remember her real name.

Had some fine times in Friedberg as a very young man.;-0)
This is a wonderful clip! I really enjoyed it! Thanks, so much for sharing it. 5stars
(However like some others I don't miss those 0200 move out alerts etc.)
Thanks for posting all of the vids you did.
Great Stuff, I'll be back once in a while just to ............
Stayed in thr same building as Elvis. Miss that whole town man. The memories. 😢
Thanks for posting this video. So many great memories of Friedberg. A Co 1-37 AR 2004-2007

It is theirs to do with as they please. I hated Friedburg.
I was at Ray Barracks from April 1961 to October 1963, 1st Batt. Scouts 32 AR. Good times, still miss it !

Hi, do you remember a very short white female named Busie (sp), she was the only mechanic female at that time? I was the only puertorican female in my unit I arrived in 1979 and left sometime in 1981. Anyway I am trying to locate Busie, I don't remember her real name.
Any information you could give me will be appreciated
