    I love sashiko. As beginner, I would like to ask the number of stitches per section/ each part, muz it be equally the same count? Or we just need to stitch it balance for all stitches will do?
    Does sashiko stitches requires to be longer in the front n shorter at the behind stitches? Or just the same on front n back?
    I'm practicing on the stitching part n using embroidery yarn as beginner for practising purpose as I noticed the sashiko thread a lil tougher for now due to my hand to thumb injuries but I can't resist n wanna keep practicing it 😀

    Thank you for the close up view, I have a question about long threads at the back of the fabric. Do you leave the loops and long threads as they are? Or do you cut them shorter? Many thanks for alll your effort to show how shaskio works, very beautiful!

    Hello, I'm 5 years late on this video, but thank you for it, you're my main source of sashiko information. My question is, having larger hands, it's hard for me to hold the needle as you do, and push with my palm, my fingers are longer. Do you have any suggestions for this situation? A longer needle maybe? Is this ever been a "thing" in sashiko? Or am I maybe not doing something correctly?? Thank you if you happen to see this, and thanks again for all your videos.

    • @SashikoStory
      @SashikoStory  Год назад +1

      Hello,
      Although we all have different hands, the first adjustment I strongly recommend is "Posture" & "Form" instead of the tools. I have taught quite many people including quite tall gentlemen, but they were happy after the workshop with the exact tools I introduce. I am not saying you are doing something incorrectly, but my recommendation is learning the form & adjusting your hands - instead of adjusting the tools (which many people adjust their tools before even learning the form...).
      I teach it in my workshop, both In-person & Online Class. It would be great if you could consider it.
      I hope it was the answer you were looking for.
      Thank you.

    Very helpful video. More helpful than the videos where you go to fast to pick up the details. They would be ok too, if you slowed down to normal speed for 30 seconds or so - when the stitching changes direction or approaches an intersection with another line in the pattern being stitched. I think that would be much more educational than going at accelerated speed through the whole video.
    Another short video with tips on how-to develop consistent length stitches would also be great. Long or short maybe doesn't matter as much as being consistent in size. To make an attractive finished project.
    I also would like to see you make more of two types of videos: a) videos of shorter duration, 10 ~ 20 minutes. Often I do not have the time to watch a video of 60 ~ 90 minutes duration, and I just don't watch them. Shorter length videos also, I think, would make them more focused on explaining a single facet of Sashiko - rather than becoming unfocused trying to cover too many topics in only shallow detail. b) additional videos showing how-to draw different patterns. Trying different patterns would be fun, and knowing how-to draw them would enable people to stitch them in different scales, custom sizes, to fit the size of fabric being used. Better option than just relying on pattern sizes that can be purchased and traced.
    Anyway, I appreciate your enthusiasm for promoting Sashiko, but please. Make more shorter videos that are focused on explaining a single Sashiko topic in greater detail. Oh, a video or blog post about the names, meaning, and history of traditional Japanese Sashiko patterns would be fun, too. Thank you.

    Thank you for your videos. I have spent hours watching and practicing. Your close-ups are so helpful. I agree; they are NOT boring but relaxing😊 My struggle seems to be in how to control or manage the material in my right hand as I move the stitches ahead, they keep slipping away, or off my needle. Today I found a way to hold my middle finger against the needle, under the fabric, it seems to help me control the fabric and movement of the needle. This was an improvement; I was getting discouraged. Do you have any other suggestions? I hope that I am making myself understandable.
