    • @stachowi
      @stachowi 6 лет назад +7

      Um... if you want to get really technical Vex, Marketing is more like crabbing... you place your crab pot in an area (target market) and attract crabs with bait (your offer that that market will consume)... I figured you could use your imagination bc fishing sounds better than crabbing.

    • @richtambling9902
      @richtambling9902 6 лет назад +7

      stachowi Um actually like um no, marketing is more like *king crab fishing with a steel wire pot coated in PVC for salt water use. And the bait must be fish heads that are no more than 4 days old These are obviously the key details that matter in making such an analogy about marketing. Glad I could correct you and share some of my endless wisdom.

    • @theguidocroce
      @theguidocroce 6 лет назад +14

      Yea, totally makes sense. Fishing is putting content out and people eat the bait and become your customers. Hunting is just focusing on one lead until you kill it or not, just like cold emailing or calling. Awesome!

    everybody talks about drama/art because anybody can talk about shit and "understand" shit and associate that with drama/art... . However a good indicator that you have a great family is to be able to come from sales/math/computer science/astronomy/quantum physics class and be able to have a meaningful conversation with your mother,etc about an emotional moment you had coming to the realization that you just understood a little bit better the world. Better still, would be your family to use that moment to motivate you think big, do big, like Bet-David does here. Great channel man !

      It is no misconception. Sales is a small part of Marketing.
      The reason big companies separate both is to take the most out of the resources by creating task forces specific to an end. It's reasonable, that's why you see Marketing split into Branding + Sales + Advertising + Communication. Don't let anyone get you more confused.
      As an experienced Marketer, let me tell you, the way companies organise a "Marketing Department" and the real concept of "Marketing" are two different things.

    Great marketing & advertising usually stems from a sales first approach and many of the best in the field (ie. Ogilvy) started in sales. This is not a mistake. You're market research should ideally be based on what your most successful reps are discovering in the field. I know marketers conduct research, but at the end of the day, they usually don't have the communication skills required to get honest feedback from the person they are talking with - assuming they even bother to talk to anyone. Many just pull data from other sources. Great example: many marketers will thump people over the head with accusatory and defensive action generating 'why' questions - great sales rep stick to empathetic 'how' and 'what' questions, build rapport, etc.

  • @shotobaci
    @shotobaci 6 лет назад +4

    Marketing is art but sales isn't just 1+1=2 math. In math you need to develop a logic on how you approach to the exercise solution. There are exercises that need different use of methods for you to solve it. Let's take geometry for example. In geometry you solve exercises by using logic mostly. And you become better by solving more. Thus you learn to solve the exact same exercise in different ways. You learn different ways to approach to the solution of that particular exercise. Same is with people. People are different. Some can be persuaded with less effort and with some you need to be like a brother or sister before you sell them something. Sales is about reading people, getting into their feelings, being empathetic to persuade them. You have to be an actor shortly. So selling is a different way of art for me and the most important skill, because at any given moment you have to sell something; An idea, an argument, a fact, a feeling, a lie. Even when you meet the partner of your life you have to "sell" them yourself.
    PS: Even in storytelling you need to sell that story. Every single word matters.

    A good salesman not only sells alot he is also a good marketer, because he is in a position to help build the brand, and in the long term the number of return costumers start to add up in the company numbers.

    I agree with you on the twenty-thousand-foot view of the difference between Marketing and Sales. Marketing’s main job is to generate leads, inbound, and outbound. Sales main responsibility is to convert the leads. I hate the word 'close' when talking about prospective new clients. You close on a new home.
    Sales to be the most effective and successful, need to spend most of their time interacting, talking/if needed, to existing and prospective clients. But, 98.99% of companies have it backward for years and years. Thus, why so many in B2B sales are failing. By having individual salespeople responsible for their own prospecting... Which is CRAZY!

    The debate between the importance of sales and marketing is a perennial topic in the business world, and this RUclips video seems to explore this intriguing subject. Both sales and marketing play crucial roles in driving business success, but they operate in distinct realms. Sales focuses on the direct interaction with customers, building relationships, and closing deals, while marketing encompasses a broader range of activities, such as market research, branding, and lead generation. It is important to recognize that sales and marketing are interdependent and work together to achieve common goals. Effective marketing lays the foundation for successful sales, generating awareness, interest, and demand for products or services. On the other hand, sales teams rely on marketing strategies to provide them with quality leads and a compelling value proposition. Rather than debating their importance, it is crucial to understand that both sales and marketing are essential components of a holistic business strategy. By aligning these two functions and leveraging their unique strengths, organizations can create a powerful synergy that drives growth and profitability. This video likely delves into the nuances of this ongoing debate, offering insights and perspectives to help viewers appreciate the symbiotic relationship between sales and marketing.

    Both are very important and play huge roles. However, I believe that marketing is superior because it develops relationships and emotional ties which ATTRACTS sales, rather than GENERATING sales, which leads to EXPONENTIAL growth rather than LINEAR growth like you said. Thanks Patrick. I’ve been in a bit of a slump at work, doing the same old thing. I realized the reason for this is that I got into so much of a routine that I lost my enthusiasm. Your channel has helped show me to learn to love what I do so much more and do better at it. So even though it’s the same job, I’m doing much better at it by utilizing your strategies and giving it all I’ve got!! I’m building more solid relationships and just putting people’s interests as the priority of my efforts which had gotten lost in the past few years behind the process. You are right about sales and how closers operate sometimes. Well, I am working on better follow up and just engaging people much more. I’m noticing with the right attitude, it pours into a lot of aspects of your life. Thanks again!! I’m hoping to start a RUclips channel some day and working on a few side projects. I’m hopeful to start doing more for myself and help some people in the process.

    Anyways! Great video. As a CEO with plenty of years of serving experience I've always had a knack for sales, but the trick for me was/ is learning Marketing. Luckily for me in my industry people are always looking to eat, its just a matter of what the trick is letting people know you're an option as well as showing them you are the best option for their taste. For this I was recommended "Traction: How any startup can experience explosive customer growth" by Gabriel Weinberg and Justin Mares. I strongly recommend this book for anyone just starting to look into the marketing world and seeking ideas, theologies and examples.

    Sales is a consequence of a good marketing strategy. Put in another word, sale is a main goal of marketing strategy. Even social marketing it will sale something, it does not necessary will envolve money.
    The main goal is put a service or product up their and get people to take home.
    Finally, marketing is the mother and sale is the son.

    even this video was fast, these are the things i understood:
    sales is selling yourself for the customer to trust you and to do this you have to grind and use system and logic
    marketing is promoting your product which is the company for the local and international to trust you and it needs a artistic creativity and psycology
    marketers sell stories and sales
    in business:
    marketing will generate leads and sales will convert leads but marketer grow sales exponentionally and sales are needed to supply growth
    sales people are less sensitive than marketers

    I feel marketing is important. Without leads you not making anything. Sales is important because you need to ask the right questions to close the deal.

    God this video is good. Makes things so much easier and clearer.
    I knew many of these things. I forgot some, I took them for granted. I feel this will improve my relationships with other departments, not just sales and marketing.
    Love it. Thank you, Pat.
