Oh my gosh! This is the first video I've seen of someone saying they get derealization from their light sensitivity. I have had chronic anxiety for 11 years and shortly after my anxiety and panic attacks started I started having vision issues. It started with floaters but now it's sensitivity to bright lights particularly fluorescent lights as well as optical illusions and high contrast patterns like striped and checkers. When the daylight goes down and we turn on our house lights I start feeling strange and get derealization. Like you said, I just feel in a daze and out of it, like I'm dreaming. And of course that just triggers my anxiety more. I'm glad I'm not the only one because I feel like I'm insane or have some horrible illness. My eye doctor always says my eyes are healthy. I only have very slight astigmatism and nearsightedness, neither of which require glasses or contacts.

Not a ringing noise but the sound like rushing wind. It's over and over like your heart beating fast. I had no other option but to accept it. Doesn't take it away but helps tone down the anxiety.

I am new to anxiety which was brought on by an accident. Experiencing light flashes, trinities and lightheaded and depersonalization symptoms was difficult for me because since I fell and hit my head I thought maybe there was a head injury even though the hospital did all the tests necessary to clear that possibility out. Anyway I am feeling much better because I took the time to educate myself on trauma and anxiety, and videos like these have helped me to understand anxiety and how I can be more proactive in my well-being. I believe I'm going through the same things currently. I've been diagnosed with Social Anxiety, General Anxiety, and very mild Paranoia. I get panic attacks too. I probably could add health anxiety to that list now too.
Over the years, i slowly realized i was getting more anxious. I have had glasses since i was 9 so vision was always something i take note of. So naturally a year ago i noticed i felt a little weird, my eyes feeling a little strained at times and waking up feeling like rubbish.
But a little over a month ago, it suddenly started getting very bad. I don't know what exactly triggered it, but i got an intense brain fog. I couldn't think straight. My vision got all cloudy, and i felt like i was under water. I got so confused and forgetful that I'd even slur words or lose track of what i jist said sentence ago. Naturally i also had nausea, stomach aches, and headaches.
It was intensely scary. I felt like i was dying. Luckily that super intense brain fog went away after 3 days, but it had already left it's mark by then.
I was convinced i was ill, that something in my body was wrong. I suspected brain tumors, nerve dsmage, macular degeneration, early dementia, or even that i was just bat shit crazy. I went to the doctor, had a load of tests done. My heart rate was fine, if not slightly elevated due to stress, i didn't have any vitamin deficiencies, my blood suger was perfect, my lungs was perfect, my thyroid levels was normal. They couldn't find any reason for my symptoms and it just made me even more scared. I got so panicked that i would snap at people, avoid people, and in an act of utter stupidity, snapped my glasses in two (which i now had to tape together 😅 how humilating)
I did notice that if i took extra amounts of B12, Vitamin C and a Mag/Cal biend i would feel a bit better and focused.
This then led me to mistakenly assume it was a nutritional issue. I did the one thing you should never to, and started taking too many vitamins and minerals. And a few days later woke up with excessive heart palpitations, worse i ever had. Turned out it was a side effect of iron overdose. So i cut out all meds except for B12, Mag/Cal, and Vitamin C, which as i mentioned did make me feel a bit better.
To flush out my body and treat my headaches, i also started taking turmeric.
It was around this time i went to a new doctor who suggested the likelihood that it was axiety related. That's when i started taking walks for exercise, listened to calming music during the night, listening to antianxiety self hypnosis sessions and meditations, doing self massages to help relax me and even a bit of aromatherapy.
It helped. But what helped me just as much, is knowing my anxiety was the cause of my suffering. The double vision, the light sensitivity, the detachment, difficulty adjusting from dark to light, or from far to close, the dry eyes, the scratchiness and tiredness every time i tried to watch tv or read a book, the confusion, the aches and pains, and all the other numerous things i was feeling. I obviously still suffer from this, and i realize it will take some time. There is bad periods where i doubt everything and feel like I'm underwater, where i look at my family and struggle to feel attached to them, but i just keep trying. I do believe that it's better now. At least better than it was, and hopefully it'll get even better.
Going to get new glasses soon, since my astigmatism seems quite worse right now. Hopefully that will also help reduce my stress.
Either way, just glad for video's like this, that literally saved my life. Hopefully others will find it useful too.

I keep having thoughts that i'm gonna go crazy, develop schizophrenia (not from anxiety, but that im just predisposed to it), or have a psychotic episode.
Then, what mostly keeps these thoughts ''valid'', is the fact that i keep having visual disturbances, as well as brain fog and depersonalization, which then makes me feel i cant trust me own eyes anymore, and the DP in turn makes me feel like im losing touch of reality.
Sometimes i'm basically completely normal/calm sometimes, but when i think back to when i had a high anxiety period, it feels more like a fever dream than an actual memory, which makes me think the lines are blurring between reality and delusions.

I didn’t think I was anxious but I think I’ve skipped anxiety and gone straight to overwhelm; the past two days have seen my eyes not being able to focus whatsoever. I can still read things but it’s like my eyes have totally zoned out, like when you get locked in a stare or a daydream and I can’t bring them back into focus no matter what I do. I’m so embarrassed because I know people can tell when they look at me- I have a job where I have to focus intensely on people for an hour at a time and it looks as though I’ve drifted off somewhere. I’m trying to remain calm and self compassionate but I want this to be over because it’s a really horrible feeling.

Hiya, it’s horrible isn’t it?! Mine improved for the most part and definitely gets worse again when I’m tired. It’s So hard not to get even more stressed out by it when it’s happening but as much as you can, try to breathe deeply and relax and tell yourself you’re okay and that this will pass. I hope you got checked out after your concussion though? And I hope it passes for you too!

I have recent throbbing on my eye (either left or right), come and go in a split second, visited a doctor and was given eye drops for dry eyes. I suspected anxiety since recently I experienced something like a lump that stuck in my throat.. I'm trying to relieve some stress or anxiety by going walking around, window shopping and some light exercises, hope it gets better over time ^^

@Oreo Donuts but I felt the pain/discomfort, does it associated with eye twitch? Thanks!

I have anxiety and depression.and my eyes are effected first at age of 19.i am sensitive to light.having yelloish light vision and some time very very dim and low intensity of vision. Still I manage to do my job with screen time 8 hrs every day with having g a black tint spec.and medicine helped me a lot to feel little better. They are one anti anxiety and one antidepressant. My yellow vision is gone now.

I got CSR in my eyes because of anxiety. Straight lines appears wavey, there is a dark brown spot at center of vision. Trying yoga now.
