Sounds like a ground referencing issue, you should remove the dash and check and clean any/all ground points. Do something first, remove ALL fuses (yes all) to isolate all the systems and turn on the car, then confirm what's working. If all's is well insert 1 fuse and repeat until the issue presents itself again, that's the circuit that's leaking DC
I think you are on the right track. Multi-voltage systems can as be strange because each voltage can have a different ground plane. I have repaired vehicles with really strange problems from people using the wrong ground.
Very plausible. It also made me think of a communication bus failure. If this were a more common car it would be nice to see what happens when the dash can / communication lines are removed.... Certainly hope a wiring diagram is available!
For the vehicles I have worked on, the high voltage and low voltage neutrals were not the same. The Curtis DC-DC converters did not connect the neutral places together. This meant if you didn't pay attention and had parts that had grounded cases (like windshield wipers) it could really mess with other vehicle systems. It was my understanding that the frames on these vehicles were supposed to be floating for safety. Older locomotives then use a ground fault relay to detect a voltage potential developing between the chassis and the generator neutral.

Considering RAM operates at 1-2V max on any modern system, the EV battery probably has a minimum voltage of a hundred times that, no, this isn’t a bloody gameboy cartridge, it’s a car. I can rip out the 12v&hybrid traction battery on my Toyota Aqua, plug the traction then 12v back in, and everything would run just fine. Even if the 12V battery’s not working fine, the moment the traction battery gets enabled the inverter will start outputting 14V at 100A and the car could be virtually self-sustaining at this point.
@@funposting8912 You would think that is the case, but as many an EV owner will tell you, when the car starts acting strange, the first thing to check is that old 12 volt lead acid battery. When it starts to go, strange things start to happen, and changing it out is both easy and cheap.

Hi, this does sound to me like an issue caused by failure of the 12 VOLT battery in your Weego! I would swap in a new battery as a first fix. Love the videos, good to have you back.
@Aging Wheels I think the limp mode is a combination of problems noted here. I remember from school that if you didnt connect the 2 ground wires in a 3 wire thermistor the controler unit would show 1600°C even though it was in icey water This connects to what braden smith is saying that the computer is putting it in limp mode because it reads that faulty temperature from the controller. As for the compressor pump i think the relay for it just melted shut causing it to always be on, or the coil just shorted and is putting a voltage on the ground line.
The even bigger problem is that it is not even pure Chinesium. It's Chinesium combined with Plagiarinasium and Cheapsium. Pretty much a recipe for disaster. And low quality PlagicheapChinesium.
You should check the state of the 12V battery. In my i3, a failed 12V battery is the harbinger of electrical gremlins. Nearly 1/3rd of all i3 problems are caused by the 12 V crapping out. My other advice would be to reach out to Eric at South Main Auto channel and see if you can do a collab. His electrical diagnoses are amazing. Obviously, you don’t live near him, but even so, a discussion between you two would be a fun video to watch, especially if Eric tries to be remote tech support as an auto electrician.
A lot of people get mad at tech support for telling people to turn it off and on again, but 90% of the time that’s how the issue is fixed. It prevents them from telling the user to do more complicated unnecessary stuff that might not work.
Something worth noting is that on the fault screen you can see “Controller Fault: 11924 BMS Module Fault: 11 Cell Fault: 90” These could be fault counts or numbers of faults, either way, consider an OBDII adaptor to get more info, may help
We had the exact same oddity in our EV "racecar". (HPEVS AC51 system) Turns out, when you push the little red selector switch with your fat, fireproof gloved finger, it will eventually be smashed into a mass of barely touching contacts. It _appeared_ to work (cycling through screens) when touched, because contact would momentarily break, but otherwise would be a dead short -- which puts the controller in program mode. We replaced it with a giant RV momentary switch. (And yes, a wonky switch plus "program mode" did make a serious mess. When I connected the "OEM" programmer, some of the _motor control_ parameters had been changed. That could potentially destroy the controller and/or motor.)

Let someone else drive it.From my experience cars are like your kids they don't act crazy if someone else is watching them.
Oh yes a new Aging Wheels video to have my morning coffee with
"I typed in the symptoms into the computer and it says you have Network Connectivity Problems."
Hi, this does sound to me like an issue caused by failure of the 12 VOLT battery in your Weego! I would swap in a new battery as a first fix. Love the videos, good to have you back.
First yell "Whee" before you "go", off on foot.
I'd be checking batteries, when the voltage on cars with a lot of electronics gets low it starts to go berserk. Good luck in fixing it!
You are the Anti-Jay Leno. Couldn’t you just get your staff of mechanics to 3D print a whole new car and cast it in magnesium?
@Aging Wheels
I think the limp mode is a combination of problems noted here.
I remember from school that if you didnt connect the 2 ground wires in a 3 wire thermistor the controler unit would show 1600°C even though it was in icey water
This connects to what braden smith is saying that the computer is putting it in limp mode because it reads that faulty temperature from the controller.
As for the compressor pump i think the relay for it just melted shut causing it to always be on, or the coil just shorted and is putting a voltage on the ground line.
The problem is that car is made of Chinesium.
The even bigger problem is that it is not even pure Chinesium.
It's Chinesium combined with Plagiarinasium and Cheapsium.
Pretty much a recipe for disaster. And low quality PlagicheapChinesium.
Nice to see you again, buddy
Woohooo! 3 videos in one week! It's almost like christmas. Glad you're doing good.
This is one of my new favorite videos. Thanks for the loffs.
I'm glad you're back 😁
The door beep don't work but you sure know you've opened the window (I love the blank look and just carry on like it was meant to be like that)
A lot of people get mad at tech support for telling people to turn it off and on again, but 90% of the time that’s how the issue is fixed. It prevents them from telling the user to do more complicated unnecessary stuff that might not work.
If entertaining videos are any measurement of a man... you are one heck of a guy! What model vehicle is the silver car at :15 ?
Great to have you back !
Love your sarcasm. Smell the quality.
Great video!
2 Months without videos and now youre pumping them out :)
This a perfect example why I would never buy a car with a screen instead of a real speedo.
This is going to be fun! (for us watching, at least)
Yay! A new Aging Wheels video!
Something worth noting is that on the fault screen you can see
“Controller Fault: 11924
BMS Module Fault: 11
Cell Fault: 90”
These could be fault counts or numbers of faults, either way, consider an OBDII adaptor to get more info, may help
You crack me up. I subbed just for your comedy. Not even a car person but you are great.
Good luck! Hope you can fix it
