The fact is that once the tow truck driver hooks up to the vehicle the county/city is being charged. Some areas the tow truck will charge upon arriving on scene since it can be a long time before the police can get the vehicles released for towing. So, no, the cop wasn't being a dick once the car was hooked up. It was going away no matter what.
The problem here was the asshole in the red truck. When the GF called him and put him on speaker, he was disrespectful, rude, and name called the cops. THEN the cop accelerated the process of towing the second car. You could say that made him the dick, I applauded it in the moment. Dude wants to be a badass over the phone, let's compare right now.

The guy is running a used car business and was use to parking cars wherever. Where I live after November 1-4/30 you can’t park in street overnite also. He was spoiled and she needs to run from him!!

I think one issue is that he should be arrested for not wanting to give back the cop’s glasses, but I think they could have waited a few minutes for him to come and prove ownership of the car.

And I imagine none of us will want to create extra work if we can do it the easy way. Most cops (base on my experience) if you talk to them nicely will just tell you to move it. Maybe you will get a ticket but most of the time that's it. IT IS indeed blocking the road so if after an extended period of time and nobody is moving it, towing is the next course of action.

Whenever you are arrested you're not going to make shit better by also being arrested you fools. If you don't get arrested you can make life easier by getting her a good lawyer and getting those charges dropped. What a joke of a officer. Didn’t at any point try to make the situation be fair or reasonable for both sides. I know the cars parked illegally, maybe the officer didn’t legally have to come to a consensus here but surely in the interest of public relations it’s always meant to be in both parties interest to A) avoid arrests and B) have the least consequential outcome that’s possible. The officer from moment one he didn’t get a response decided that those cars were getting towed. Didn’t even attempt to knock a second time or whatever. So just sat in his pathetic police car quietly waiting upon the tow truck to tow the vehicles away. And with the arrest he could’ve avoided that too through just giving her boyfriend 5 minutes to comeback and if not then tow the car away. But instead this officer choose to escalate and escalate and not give a inch of leeway.
