Absolutely. Also keeps his ads skippable and no clickbait. You’re great.
personally, I would absolutely sit through an ad if it made you a little more cash… if anyone deserves it, you do bro.
Really cool and informative video Noa!
Aaaaa 30k congrats dani, waiting for this Sundays devlog soo excited what's gonna happen :)
Oh hi again 😂
Thanks mate :) ! Glad you liked it !
Oh hi
Hello there
Hey everyone :) !
Now talking about money isn't always the most comfortable topic. But I think it's really interesting and hopefully will make some of you more aware of how much you can potentially make if you go indie, or start a youtube channel ! cheers, hope you enjoy the video !
Blackthornprod talking about money is really interesting man

I really want to hear your insights about this! :D
Those videos could be a lot of fun to make :) ! It's definitely something I'll think about !
This is probably the most motivating video for Game dev and programming on the internet, like for real, I feel like I can make anything when I watch this video! You are the greatest inspiration to me, super motivating for the past year you have kept my gave dev going, each video boosts it more.
That's so great to hear :) !! Thanks mate for your support, it really is appreciated and encouraging, I'm so glad I've been able to inspire you, it's awesome.
I’m so glad to finally see a RUclipsr just talk about how much they make. There’s nothing wrong on teaching people what it expect from being a youtuber, and I think more creators should to it. Props to you blackthronprod
I have picked up both your Udemy courses and so far (as a new game dev) I am very impressed. Thank you for sharing your financial experience on these platforms.
Really glad you liked the video :) ! And I'm happy you got our Udemy courses, I'm sure you'll learn a lot :) ! cheers mate
You deserve every penny and more
😀
Also I will now watch through every add for you
Thanks a lot mate :) !
Damn you're the same age as me?! On one hand it's frustrating that you've already achieved so much that I only dream about, and on the other inspiring cuz it means I really could become successful if I just stopped doubting myself and took a bit of risk to pursue what I enjoy.
Oh im 19 too just 2 lazy and not sure what i realy wonna do in life might just realy go hard and go at it see what works for me instead of just pussy footing around
Nice honest video man :)
Thanks mate :) !
This convinces me to create a Udemy course :-) Good job, buddy!

People like you make game development a very welcoming field. Thanks for being so honest about your success. This kind of info will be helpful.
you are so honest, pal. Love your content. Cheers from Argentina!
Very unique, humble, and honest guy. Never change, buddy. You're inspiring so many people and breaking free from the RUclips mold with your unique videos and talent.
Thank for these insights... but most importantly, thanks for reminding all of us who are pursuing similar endeavours to not lose focus on why we started our work. Indeed, it takes some reflecting on ourselves to not get too hyped about things, remaining humble and making content that you love. I have to learn this myself. Also, awesome that you were transparent about this touchy subject which I know is a bit taboo, but could save some people like me who put trust in making it on RUclips, but not achieving it. Under the surface of success, there will always be long periods of endurance which you showed in that graph. I know that you took a break from social media, but I wanted to express that you made an impact... I feel determined and I want to do something with it and that’s such a beneficial outcome of any educational video. I hope I could capture this very thing in my videos in the future for my audience.
thanks for this video noa , i was waiting for this type of video for long👍👍👍👍👍
No problem :) ! Really glad you liked it !
When I was 19, me and a friend from school were doing C++, OpenGL, assembly and ton of other cool stuff, while all the grown-up around were looking at us funny for "playing on the computer" all day. We ended up working for less than minimal wage picking tomatoes, because that was the only job hiring teenagers in our backward town.
Looking back at these early projects, I know now they were the foundation of my career in software engineering, and thought me much more than a later degree in computer science.
For any kid out there, don't let anyone discourage you from your passion.
This is exactly why I subscribe to your channel, honesty, and enjoyable content !
FINALLY!!..Someone who talks about how much he makes on youtube.
It's just surreal seeing a creator reviving this while others keep this as one huge secret. Love you videos 😁😁😁
Wait your only 19 and your an indie dev. That's impressive. I'm turning 20 soon and only just started learning game development.
20 is super young too, just keep it up :) !
Blackthornprod Thanks for encouragement. I'll do my best 😁
@@TheKing-ve7lz 1 year later update on your progress? :)
Chris Castillo I don't know if this might sound depressing but I burnt myself out trying to do a bunch of projects a few months ago and am now no longer sure that I want to be an indie dev. At least not as a full time career. I did at least make a small game I am proud of though. It's a 2D game where you have to run on platforms, avoid traps and fight enemies (similar to mario) and will occasionally run into grids. You have to use your mouse to match tokens on the grid quickly and depending what tokens you match you get power ups that help you with the rest of the 2D platforming level. I have other ideas for games I want to make but feel unsure if I could make them myself. Especially since one is a 3D platformer which I rarely ever hear of good ones beings developed by one person. I have definitely learned a lot so far. But if I want to make that 3D platformer I still have a lot to learn. An unfortunately it doesn't help that I felt really bad after being burnt out to the point where I quit game development for a while and am just starting to get back into it now😩. Sorry that it might sound a bit depressing. I haven't come as far in the last year as I would have liked but I've made some progress at least.
@@TheKing-ve7lz Don't beat yourself up at all, you still reached many of the goals you set for yourself. It's hard to be consistent with a new hobby that has a learning curve like game development. Don't count how many times you've fell down, count how many times you got back up.
This is great man! It's nice that you are not like bragging or not like telling because you don't want to talk about money but this is amazing
Shows that you truly care for other independent devs and creators to show examples of what is possible. Thanks allot as a creator my self I appreciate all the knowledge you have bestowed.
Wait your're 19?! Holy wow, didn't know you are my age. I honestly thought you are 20 plus or something like that comparing it to how experienced you talk. Man, you are an inspiration and keep up the work my man.
Ikr i feel like i have don't nothing in my life and this 19 year old guy has done in some years more than I had done in my whole life that's kinda sad
I can't thank you enough for this insight! It's so informative for me while I'm on the edge to make the transition to full time. :) Thanks bro! Keep up what you love doing! We'll be there to support you. :)

Yay keep going, motivation and passion are key, you have both. Content quality and honesty are always here, so refreshing. Cheering you on hugely!!!!
It's really refreshing seeing how much money someone like you actually makes. You don't try to hide it like everyone else does and it's really valuable information to know, being someone considering following in your footsteps. Keep up the great work bro!

Thank you for your transparency. That seems so rare for some reason. I love your content, and your positive attitude is infective! Keep it up!
So many people keep their finances quiet, and it makes it awful on anyone trying to run the numbers, and figure out how possible their aspirations are, so thank you. Thank you for just being transparent, it makes life so much easier.
This is actually both useful and interesting , you earned a new subscription
honestly, going to college is such a waste of time and money
3 years went by just to get a transcript for company to recognize your talent and skills
its better to be working and get work experience or make a great portfolio
or you could just work hard. study by yourself. investing. make a living by being a creator.
that is just my opinion. but Im sure many others would agree. i have been there. gone to college and believe it or not, I rather put my money on udemy course than take a huge educational loan to learn the same subject.
I learn more from Udemy and skillshare than in university.
can u believe that professor gave me assignment without any tools or guide to go through and all he said was
"go to youtube and do your own research"
anyways, I just found your content today and I felt great to see youngsters taking a brave step to become a creator. I pray for you and your brother best of success and good luck. I believe in you both. keep on sharing and be awesome
I'm in college now, and I am very fortunate to have good scholarship so it's worth it for me. If it wasn't for that, I would probably follow your advice. Getting a portfolio is super important.
Don't generalize man!!
HAHAHAHA that was my highschool life in Sweden explained exactly like that! The teacher pretty much said "do this, research" and went for lunch, thanks for the laugh. Waste of time! Do something else with your life, you also take a loan to go to that school right? Drop it, look at this guy for inspiration. Convince your parents or wherever you can stay that you should do something else in life.
Wow, good numbers. I'm going to be watching more of these videos. Your tutorials are clear and properly detailed. I've seen so many tutorials where the person skips things and expects you to understand or goes too fast or I can't understand them. But this, so far, is the best game dev youtube videos I've seen.
Thank you for sharing this with us!
We (me and my wife) are currently working hard to build up our business. We focus on Unity Asset Store currently, but figured out content creation is a great way to increase our customer base, as well as it's fun to make videos or articles and really rewarding to see somebody appreciate that we try to share our 5 years of experience (I working as a freelancer since 2013).
It's not easy to do, however, and sometimes it's really hard to get up in the morning and sit down before the PC. Especially when our revenue is smaller than our expenses. A video like this really gives us hope, and hope drives us further.
Thank you again! :)
Totally going to buy your course. Found this channel recently after getting interested in making games, and your art and gameplay is so unique!
Seen a couple of videos, liked the content but then I saw this honesty. Damn, just instant subscribe, now I also feel like watching every add of my fav youtubers
Thank you so much for sharing this! As a game dev youtuber I find it hard to tell if my stats are good in terms of click through rate and time watched so it was helpful to see those snippets in your video. Will be exciting when I get to the point when I can start monetizing my work :) Thanks for the continuous inspiration!
I just can't wait till the trailer for "The Dreadful Whispers"! I hope there will be a lot of people who will buy and play your game, you truly deserve it!
Well done Noa. Your passion and motivation towards game development, as well as running your own business, from such a young age, is very inspiring. I am hoping to follow a similar path, eventually. It would be interesting to see what your influences were. I understand Hollow Knight and Tim Burton is an inspiration for you, from an artistic perspective, and you collaborate with your brother, but I've always wondered if you parents, or other members in your family have also helped you find your path towards game development. It would be great to see a video on this, to learn more about you. Thanks for all your content, and I wish you the best of luck. If this is what you're doing at 19, then it will be great to see the quality of your content 5 to 10 years from now. Maybe I will finally have some content of my own by then, too, haha.
Your transparency is greatly appreciate. You’re a legend my man. An inspiration!
For honesty, hard work and everything that i learned useful on your channel I salute you and I subscribed. Thank you very much.

That's quite a comfortable income for someone who is only 19 years old. As someone who is so passionate and excited to make more content in various ways, I'd say this is well deserved! Keep up the good work.
Why anybody would put thumbs down for this video?!!!!!!!!!!!

Coding your own games is easier than you think...
You know, you should take this online Unity course.
It's not that easy really. Coding might be easy for some, but keeping the motivation and stay on the road is the harder part. Not everyone is able to keep going when they face a hard problem in a game...

If you continue making tutorials that are notable and successful like the pixel art series, eventually you'll build a backlog of videos that will have ad revenue for a lot longer than other types of content. So hang in there with the RUclips ad revenue, if you keep at what you are doing now that ad revenue should pick up and be more sustainable as you build that backlog of consistently relevant videos! You should look into Amazon affiliate marketing too, just find some products on amazon that you think your audience would wanna buy and just throw a link to it in your description. You get % of the price of whatever they're buying, it doesn't cost the buyer anything more, and you don't even have to be sellout-y about it, its just a link in the description. Good luck on the Entrepreneur lifestyle, that's the way to live!
You probably won't read this but I just have to say that I highly appreciate you being so transparent about how much you make! This video is very useful!
Also, I really love your artstyle!
Thank you for the honest video. Great seeing you doing these for a living. Best of luck in the future. Also, subscribed :)
Very good video Mt friend, the only person who revealed the money that earned, Ty so much
My summer holiday just started, I will be in year 10 in september. In year 11 I will be finishing school. As I'm currently using Unity and know Photoshop, I will be able to go to a college which offers game dev courses, and I might even start a game dev yt channel by then. The future is unpredictable..
Goodluck
Thanks for sharing all these info. It is very helpful for people to get a feel about what it looks like when to work as indie developer and youtuber. Really like your videos!
i havent seen someone so honest about thier revenue. I let the add run at the end of the video without skipping. :)
I have never in my life actually seen a youtuber showing how much money he or she earns... well done!
I love the transparency of this video. Thank you.
Thumbs up for the honesty, subscribed !
You have to appreciate that RUclips has enabled to double the revenue stream for some form of work. You earn money from a primary activity like making the game and selling it, and you earn from youtube by documenting the process of the primary activity. With patreon and udemy you can know triple it. You can even up that by merchandising and affiliate marketing. And let's not forget the brand value, exponential marketing of existing services and potential services it is creating. Man, what a great time we are living in right now.
You're very brave to share your revenue sources, thank you for doing that you are an inspiration to aspiring developers and entrepreneurs everywhere, I love your content, you deserve every last penny you have, thank you
Thanks a lot for the kind words mate :) !
Noa, you deserve because your work is really awesome, I wish you much success.
You're an inspiration brother. Keep it going and stay positive my man.
THIS. Thank you for actually posting your earnings. This gives insight and knowledge that RUclips doesn't seem to want to share. Insight into how creators can actually make money with their unpredictable algorithm.
This is helpful and inspiring for my future projects.
You rock man. Like, for real. Between this and the video where you spoke about your failures, I've been inspired in more ways than I could express. I'm working on a HUGE Unity game project right now, while also trying to create art and videos for my channel, and simultaneously tend to a full-time job :P Creating is my passion and I honestly hope that my creations wind up even half as successful as yours have. Good to see more passionate artists/game devs out there :) Thanks for all that you do!
