Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi Note 12 series globally, but in Nigeria we're only getting the Redmi Note 12 4G and Note 12 Pro Plus 5G, at least for now. The Redmi Note 12 4G looks like the best in terms of value seeing that it comes at a price point below its predecessor. It might arguably be the best phone for its price, but there are some reservations, and it's probably not quite the upgrade you're looking for.

I think the note 12 basic models are a better deal than the overprized pro models. Here in germany we wouldn't ever have proper 5g, so i could easily skip that for years.
In my country the difference between the note 12 and note 12 pro is 50 bucks and you get so much more. Better processor better cameras.

I got a note 12 too and the charging speed felt very UNREAL to me,

adaptive brightness issue is not a problem, it's a feature in which you adjust it and it remembers your setting for that surrounding light condition.
I love the way you already categorized it from the start, it's definitely a good budget phone .
I think the 120hz is still 120hz and not just on paper. That's just MIUI being buggy. I believe it'll be stable after a few updates. That's their way.
No it won't!!.. I will never buy a Redmi phone ever again.. I rather get the Galaxy S10+ from 2019.. I don't give a shit about that dumb 120hz... I feel they just threw in that number just to get some attention as we all know the Snapdragon 600 series is too weak for any of that high refresh rate nonsense..😅

Yes if you went from redmi note 6 to 12 ,but if you went from 10 or 11 is totally a downgrade

They were the real upgrades everyone deserved. And the comment *11 bro I have the redmi note 11 and belive me despite it's pros it's mostly a downgrade especially software wise. My old Redmi note 4 has split screen and this doesn't.

I upgraded from note 10 pro and there is some changes, screen feels more responsive, plays games better , little better camera

Just got the Redmi Note 12 4G.
The auto brightness issues has been fixed with the new update same with the "120hz" that you said it's not 120hz for the lack of words.

@@darlingtonodirah8926 so far so good for a 4/128gb variant, I'm enjoying it. Got another update about 2 weeks ago that further fix some bugs. I always do factory reset after every updates and I haven't experienced the bugs I experienced prior to the latest version of MIUI 14 on the device. I reckon that you won't have issues considering that you are getting the 8gb variant.

Considering the minimal upgrades to the processor, a slightly bigger and brighter screen with a slightly higher refresh rate and then the downgrade to a mono speaker, there's barely any difference between this and the Note 11.
If anyone were to ask me, I would recommend the Note 11 instead because there's very little to warrant buying the new phone.
The new redmi note 12 is N125k for 6+128gb on Slot while the older redmi note11 with the same spec is N155k, so tell me now, which will you recommend 🤨
And the Note 11 ostensibly was a Note 10 downgrade so Note 10 ftw🙃

Since the 120hz refresh rate is choppy in MIUI 14, how about you go to android 13? Would thr choppy 120hz refresh rate be better? MIUI 14 is still fresh anf buggy.

The nfc problem is from where the store got it. NFC is on Global devices and in EU especially as most of us use it.

Redmi, I use Samsung and Xiaomi.. as long as you aren't getting the galaxy a34 or higher... Go for Xiaomi

It has Virtual RAM. It lags because the processor is either not properly optimised, or the software is holding it back

I have this and everything you mentioned is true... If you own Note 10 or 11 upgrade shouldn't be an option for you. This might be my last time to use Redmi phones.

Smartphone manufacturers launches a great phone year before, and after, it's just not living up to the standard set by its predecessor. It's once in a while, I guess we are used to it now. 😅

Note 12 will beat note 11..... People make mistake selling their 11s to get a base 12 version, and start complaining note 12 is rubbish blh blah blah. that is a downgrade. For fair comparison compare 11 to 12, and 11 pro with 12 pro then u will see that they never made a mistake with the 12 device.. The only slight mistake was the absent of stereo speaker, it has a mono speaker.
@@rickdinvestor You already stated the big mistake that they make, letting the people feel like it's a downgrade for upgrading to Note 12...and I'm comparing the regular Note, please dont bring in the other variant. Note 12 is an upgrade by not optimizing the Note 11 camera and software well for it.

Paid for a Note 11 (4/128Gb) on Jumia a day before the lunch. Now I'm seeing Note 12 at a similar price for 8GB/128GB. Seriously thinking of rejecting the package when it is delivered. Should I stick with Note 11?

Actually redmi note 10pro is a mid range phone and is of higher price than the note 12 which is a budget phone.
At 179USD here in the Philippines for the 6/128 variant doesn't seem a budget phone, but with budgeted specs. With that price of still 4G phone isn't practical at all, looks like not an upgrade of the Note 11 series. It's more likely a repackage/re-launch of the Note 10 series.

I both the note 12 and it's working fine except the notification of my twitter, it doesn't show as a bubble on the screen it will hide in the notification panel I will have to swap down to be able to view it

Just bought the redmi note 12 and holy shit, just trying to set up wall papers or my ring tone i get spammed with so many ads its so annoying, if the phone was anymore expensive id avoid it just for that but for the price no other phone in NZ has a oled screen or 6gb of ram

I think mostly in your reviews you skip the durability of the phone especially from the Chinese companies ... note 12 collapsed when i was updating and lost all my data... for the tecno is stoped using their devices the charging system is always break down as early as 6 months old the mouth piece problems the camera downgrade with time ... i think all this are factors to consider

Yeah it's better in my opinion, better screen quality with a higher refresh rate and brightness, better performance, comes with a faster 33w charger, ip53 dust and water resistant, Ultra wide lens with eis support, and it's going to get atleast a year or two years android update. Though tecno spark 10 pro has double the ram and storage of the Redmi with a better build quality. both at the same price point.
It's better than the Spark 10 Pro. Only go for the Spark 10 Pro if your budget is below 110K

Firstly what's your budget, the Redmi note 12 goes for 115k you could get the infinix smart 7 for a lesser amount. The note 12 is 4gb/128 gb the infinix is 2gb/64

As someone who uses the phone
1) its decent price for decent midrange gaming for emulation etc
2) for daily use, ITS HORRIBLE, the cpu is deliberately been made bad to make the more expensive models better, the cpu makes simple things such as bank verifying where you need to use window apps open impossible as the memory reloads the app even if off for NO JOKE 5 seconds

I just got mine today and noticed the earpiece port at the top of the phone is gaping open and you can see the inside form it. Please am I the only one with this issue? Please fellow owners help me check and confirm cos I paid full price for this and don't expect it to come with any defects.
