Have Muslims Been Praying In The Wrong Direction For Over 1000 Years? | Sacred City | Timeline

  • The Sacred City presents compelling evidence that suggests the holy city of Mecca is in the wrong location and that the worlds 1.6 billion Muslims are praying in the direction of the wrong city. Compiling evidence from both historic sources and new technologies point to the correct location in this seismic, revelatory new film.
In this startling and original documentary, writer and historian, Dan Gibson, shows that descriptions of Mohamed’s original holy city - as detailed in the Qur’an and Islamic histories, do not match that of the Mecca we know today. If true this could shake Islam to it’s roots, because every Muslim is required to pray towards the ‘forbidden gathering place’. If Dan Gibson is right, Muslims are praying in the wrong direction.
In the film ‘The Sacred City’ we set out his evidence from within Islamic and ancient histories - while also using modern technologies - to track down the biggest secret of the last fifteen hundred years. Gibson not only finds the location of the original Mecca but also provides a convincing argument as to how such a great misunderstanding in Islamic history came about.
While clearly controversial, The Sacred City is respectful of Islam’s prophet, and does not dispute the events of the Qur’an; but shows how a deliberate attempt was made to hide from Islam, secrets that impact every Muslim today. The evidence is compelling and fascinating.
In a time when the world agenda is being set by Islam, it is more important than ever for the origins and history of this world religion to be examined afresh. This is an important documentary with world-wide appeal for both religious and secular audiences.
Beautifully filmed in the ruins and deserts of the middle east, the film is a detective story that investigates the dawn of Islam and will become the most talked about film for years to come.

This research shows how dangerous it is to follow broken pieces of archaeological evidence while having little knowledge about the facts and denying reality. It is also interesting to see how they can combine information from history and even from the Quran and Sunnah to prove their theory while ignoring vast texts from the Quran, Sunnah, and Islamic history contradicting their theory. Moreover, this is a total disrespect and insult to Islamic history and the credibility of all Muslim scholars and Muslim Khalifas.
This research and analysis are complete garbage, either from his ignorance or as propaganda to spread misinformation about Islam and confuse ignorant Muslims. Believing in this research will be kufr; he is saying that Allah didn't protect Islam; Muslims are praying toward the wrong Qibla and going to Hajj to the wrong place; in that case, no one is worshipping Allah. This is total kufr and clear propaganda against Islam. May Allah destroy this guy and everyone involved in this kind of propaganda against Islam.

For example, the Nabateans are 100% Arabs and spoke Arabic not Aramaic, that's agreed upon. Second the Roman province was named Arabia Petraeus nor Syrian province. Also the in the Arabic text it does not say Syria but the word Sham is used which mean the Levant. Also notice how they call everything in Palestine - "Israel", and avoid mentioning the word Palestine even though that was the name under the Romans.

      Genesis 16:7
The angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur.
Shur is a location mentioned several times in the Hebrew Bible.
Scholars believe that the 'way of Shur' was located along the Wadi Tumilat - an arable strip of land to the east of the Nile delta, serving as the ancient transit route between Egypt and Canaan across the Sinai.

    • @jacksableng4775

Zam Zam is somewhere near Wadi Tumilat, nowhere near Saudi. Near Palestine. Ibrahim is from Assam Palestine, so Wadi Tumilat is within rational walking distance, not Mecca 1500km. A woman and a young infant is not possible to walk that distance let alone the heat of the dessert.
This proof that Quran is a compendium of LIES.

The confusion here stems from the way Arabic text is written in English. The word "Haram" in Majid-a-Haram is a different Arabic word (that is spelled differently in Arabic) than the word meaning forbidden: Haram. This word means sanctuary or holy shrine. For example Mecca and Madina are commonly referred to as the "Harameen Sharifine" meaning the two holy shrines.
These two words are also pronounced differently. The word forbidden is pronounced with a more extended second "a" (Haraam), while the word for shrine is a quick two syllables (ha-ram)

I’m not a scholar in Arabic but you don’t have to be one to know the following :
    1) “Bekka“ which means to have weeped or cried , in arabic is بكى and not بكة as mentioned.
The adjective of weeping or crying is يبكي for male and تبكي for female. Therefore the part about changing the city name from Bekka to Mekka doesn’t make sense, in such a case Mekka would be spelled as مكى which is wrong, It is currently spelled as مكة .
    2) several times the author refers to AlMasjid as meaning a gathering place, but in Arabic AlMasjid means “the place that Prostration is conducted.” Masjid is the adjective of Sajad which means to have laid face down as submission during prayer for Worshop.
A gathering place on the other hand is referred to as Aljameh الجامع.

I’ve watched the whole video by Dan Gibson.
To me he has made a gross error in his research & assumptions.
    1. During Prophet’s Muhammad (PBUH) lifetime when he entered to retake Mecca, he came along with 10,000 Muslims. How could all of them couldn’t differentiate the location between Petra and Mecca which is so far away in distance? There were thousands of eye witnesses and how could this historian be so confused. The Muslims who earlier emigrated from Mecca to Medina still had their own houses, properties & relatives there. Even the Prophet’s birthplace, his wife’s house and others are still there in Mecca for the records. Caliphate Osman who was one of the richest man at his time had lands that he donated for public use to his name in Mecca & Medina until to-date. How could the location of Mecca be wrong? But no thanks to the Saud tribe who conspired with the British to betray, rebel & overthrow the Ottoman Caliphate & they later being installed as the rulers of Saudi Arabia until to-date and It was not a surprise that they had demolished most of the historical structures & remnants of the Prophet & HIs Companions in Mecca & Medina using the excuse that Islam prohibits shirk & idolatry. Was it?
    2. Mecca was always known since its existence as a pilgrimage place instead of a trading destination
    3. Islam spread to Indonesia & Malaysia which the former is the largest Islamic country of over 200 million Muslims through trading with the Arab countries, India & China through trade and never war. In fact China has about 50 millions Muslims today. How could Dan Gibson insinuated that Islam generally spread through war?
    4. At the end of the video Dan Gibson showed the word Becca (Petra) and Mecca written in Arabic. That is a joke because Becca based in the Old Testament is spelled without ‘H’ at the end of it but Mecca in Arabic is with ‘H’ and pronounced as MEKAH.
    5. Long time ago the early Muslims didn’t know much about astronomy and there was no compass, complete map or modern apps to determine locations. The best that they could assume was to follow the movement of the sun to guess the direction of Jerusalem and Mecca to determine the point for prayer. But as time goes by when Muslims had advanced into scientific & mathematical research during the Abbasid caliphate, astronomical studies was conveniently used to determine the accurate location of the Ka’aba in Mecca. Even at this moment in time if a Muslim is somewhere in a remote location and he has no means to know the direction of the Ka’aba, he can always refer to the direction of the sun wherever he is in the world to make his best assumption of the direction of Mecca. If things become complicated, a Muslim can also pray on the aeroplane to whatever direction as long as he carries out his daily obligation to God.
    6. As far as I know you can find date trees in Mecca. Grapes, pomegranate & figs were planted in Taif about 100km from Mecca. So what’s the big deal about finding grapes in Mecca during those times? With the current climate change, it’s not surprising if grapes can grow there too.
    7. Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) mission on Islam was completed during His lifetime. He gave His last sermon in Mecca about a year before His passing.
    8. Caliphate Osman was Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) son-in-law. They had lived most parts of their lives together. After the Prophet, Abu Bakar became the first Caliphate in Islam, then Umar and later Osman. During Abu Bakar’s time Umar had proposed to compile the Quran which were written on pieces of tree bark, leather & paper but Abu Bakar reluctantly agreed as there were still many Muslims who could memorise the whole Quran (Hafiz) then. The task was entrusted to Zaid Ibn Thabit to compile a complete Quran. However as Islam expanded to other regions which transcended continents, races, languages & dialects during Caliphate Osman’s time, there were many Hafiz(s) who died in wars too. Osman then finalised the compilation by Zaid Ibn Thabit after being authenticated by other respected Hafiz(s). Osman himself was a Hafiz too. He used only the Quraish Arabic language Script that is the language of the Prophet and CODED to standardise the spellings, pronunciations & vowels of all the verses in the Quran. It’s just like certain words in English like COLOUR in the UK but COLOR in the US although it sounded the same. Osman then destroyed the rest of the other Scripts. The compilation of the Quran in a book form was completed during Osman’s time & copies of the authentic Quran script were distributed to the other regions under the Islamic Caliphate and until to this day all Muslims in the world are using the compilation currently known as the Osmanic Script. The Muslim world has never used the Abassid Script as alleged by Dan Gibson.
So far that’s all that I could comment on the 1 hour 25 minutes video from Dan Gibson. If I find out more later, I’ll add on to this reply.

I ask this question with respect to all Muslims and there faith! If Mecca is the place where the 365 windows were, then they are right, its not there. That place of the 360 windows or niches is in the americas! Many of the ancient places today geographically are not the ancient place mentioned in the ancient records. Horace Butler in his book When Rocks Cry Out has shown many of the sacred ancient places temples pyramids and cities in the Americas. I know that to you i sound crazy like i was hit in the head by a large flying stone. Even the great pyramid in the ancient records said that it had stair cases and a summit at the top of it, when we clearly see that today it does not have any of those features. When you take a look at 'El Tajin' the famous pyramid of the niches in Mexico, you will be looking at that the ruins of the 360 window temple where Muhammad destroyed the idols in those windows.

And 360 Niches that were in the 'Temple of Windows' at ancient 'TaJin' in Mexico.. the "place of the Jinn" That means this temple "Temple of Windows" is the original Kaaba!! Now that begs of answers to now know that the Kaaba was in Mexico as well as these old events recorded. As a Muslim, I've watched this with an open mind. I have lots of remarks and questions though.
I think Dan needs to explain the battle sites near Mecca and the early capital being Medina. It took them only days to reach Mecca during the Hegira. The life of the prophet is well documented, not just through historians but through Quran as well. Also, early Muslims went to today's Ethiopia for refuge in the early years of Islam. Why would they go from Petra to Ethiopia instead of Jerusalem for example?
Damascus fell years later to Muslim conquests, and it wasn't that close to Medina at all. But Caliphs had to travel from Medina to Damascus only did it rarely, why is that? They could visit Mecca on their way to Jerusalem for example. They had a lot of travels between Medina and Mecca but not to Damascus or even Jerusalem. They also had to appoint the earliest Ummayad leader (who later become the Ummayad Caliph) as governor of Damascus, but that makes no sense if Mecca and Damascus are so close to each other in terms of distance compared to Medina.
Mosques facing the wrong directions are no huge deal, even today people build mosques in wrong directions and then put special things to show the correct Qibla. It is often easier to just face a general direction thinking it would be there, and sometimes we do that when we have no GPS connection. Dan is looking at 8th-century builders and thinking they had GPS. But no they didn't, some of them maybe didn't even know if the earth was round or not. From the western mosques, it is easier to see, they've thought Mecca would be in the southeast, but they were just looking at the Sahara desert. Did they copy it from Egyptian Muslims? Did they make it on purpose? Maybe, maybe not. Dan is thinking with our current knowledge of the world map.
Dan ignores Shia Muslims as well, they were never fans of Ummayads nor Abbasids, why did they forget the original place? Even today Shia Muslims go to a special pilgrimage of their own in Iraq where they actually whip themselves. They have never forgotten about Ummayad leaders killing the sons of Ali who was only the 4th caliph, so we are looking at very very early separation. So, only by checking the early mosques in Iran, he can point to "real" proof. Okay, you would say they have also changed it. But why is there no Muslim school that actually goes to Petra, or even considers it a holy place? Petra was mostly forgotten until the 19th century. Muslims were not even aware of this place, not in documents nor by oral history, simply this city never existed for Muslims.
There are older buildings near Mecca including graveyards and battlefields. I believe that since he cannot go there as a non-muslim he created his own Mecca.

subtitles of the Arab guy speaking 11:10 are deliberately translated wrong. He does not say the city had ancient ruins and city walls, rather he describes a large and well known city with markets. Weak and unreliable sources quoted from Bukhari are not sufficient evidence to back up this theory claimed by Dan Gibson. The argument that Mecca had a large population is also wrong. Large armies were not composed merely from the dwellers of Mecca, but were a collective army formed by bedouin tribes who inhabited all areas of the Arabian Peninsula. Mecca only had Qurash tribe who were lucky to own the Kaaba which held the idol gods and tribes of Arabia would visit for religous and trading purposes. Think of it as an ancient trade show with a pilgrimage twist...around the twelth minute the documentary talks about "approaching a town blessed with water and trees". Yes Mecca had Zam-Zam water wells for thousands of years, and yes there would have been Date Palms with "fruits", as dates are classified as a fruit, but certainly not grapes, they fail to show the actual hadith in Arabic text, they just quote it in English with supporting visuals of grapes to manipulate the audience. Why is the climate of Mecca at the time presented as such a suprise? Ancient records show that The Sabaean kingdom of Yemen had cities such as Sanaa with lush gardens and flora. Even Anatolia and Mesopotamia had lions, cheetah and asian elephants but are no longer present. In short, climatic shifts happen and there is no evidence to prove Mecca did not ever have any vegetation during that period. Last point is about the Masjids built in the first century of Islam. Qibla walls could have easily been slightly off target considering the examples given these structures were hundreds or thousands of km's distance and with good reason people did not have Google Earth and modern GPS coordinates at the time, moreover, documentary does not even mention the first masjid built at the time of prophet Mohammed in which he had helped build himself called Masjid Kuba.

@MrA If all of my claims can easily be broken down, then do it, you are obliged to disprove my claims if you have the nerve to speak. I think I have put forward a rational argument with many of my claims opposing specific parts and statements in the documentary. It seems like you haven't paid attention to the details in the documentary and probably have not read my argument carefully, it's obvious by you saying that I will talk about zamzam water, which I already did, and to your bright attention, I have not claimed that the Quran mentions zamzam, as it does not need to mention zamzam, it's presence is a scientific fact.
The Quran does not say there are olive trees in Mecca, this is the verse: “By the fig and the olive; By Mount Sinai; By this City of Security (Makkah)” this verse does not make a claim that there are figs and olives in Makkah nor on mount Sinai, it's an oath to those fruits because first of all they are very beneficial to the human body, secondly, figs and olives were known to the Arabs of Makkah because they were widely traded commodities. As a matter of fact, any commercial produce which was available in Petra - Palestine - Levant area, you could have also found in the markets of Makkah because there were merchants trading these goods. The prophet Mohammed had also travelled to the Levant in his youth as a merchant, people of Makkah were familiar with many fruits and products such as olive oil. Anyhow your understanding of history is very shallow, which explains why you would believe a clumsily prepared documentary like this one, I guess it was aimed at an audience of your caliber. The crescent moon and the black stone the Muslims walk round at Mecca are from the pre Muslim religion, when the people of Arabia and Iraq worshipped the moon. These symbols were absorbed into Islam.Mohammed travelled with his uncle around Arabia and Across into Egypt. He picked up Jewish and Christian teaching when he visited Synagogues and churches, but neither the Jews nor the Christians would let him convert to their religion, from worshipping the Moon God, so he started his own religion -- Islam. He incorporated the teachings he had heard into his own teachings. Non of his followers could read and write so it was important that his followers learned his teachings by heart. Even today Jewish children learn the Law (the first 5 books of the Bible )off by heart , when they go to Hebrew classes after school.
The Quaran was codified 250 years after the time of Mohammed ,and there were 8 ancient copies written on vellum ,rather than papyrus . One of these ancient codices is in Cairo and the other is in Baghdad. The other 6 have not survived.
The earliest Jewish Scroll dates from 100 years before Christ ,and individual books of the New Testament date from the late 1st century and 2nd century AD. All 3 of these religions had a long tradition of scribes faithfully copying the sacred texts, until the art of printing was invented. The Christian scribes did not only copy the Old and New testaments. They also copied Greek and Roman poetry ,plays and historical documents. There are over 5ooo copies of ancient New Testament books .

According to Lisān al-'Arab of Ibn Manẓūr, the site of the Kaaba and its surroundings was named Bakkah due to crowding and congestion of people in the area. The Arabic verb bakka (بَكَّ), with double "k", means to crowd like in a bazaar. This is not to be confused with another unrelated Arabic verb bakā (بَكَىٰ) (single k) which is the past tense of yabkī (يَبْكِي), to cry. It could be good if you know arabic when you investigate.

This was well made, and definitely gave me a feeling that this man was genuinely sure about his claims.
A few things I took away from the documentary after watching it all. But before I begin, it’s important to note that we Muslims take the Quran to be the word of God and thus we take that to be fact over all other contentions.
Mecca in the Qur’an is stated as either Becca (3:96, 7th word) or Mecca (48:24, 9th word). Dan says that the word Becca means to weep. Which is true, but not in Arabic, Becca comes from the root word bkk (ب ك ك), which has a few meanings, but none of them is to weep. Crowding of people, lack of water, or even breaking of the neck could all be meanings for the word Becca. The reason Dan thought it meant to weep was because of the old testament verses in Psalms 84. When they came to translate the word from Hebrew to greek, it meant to weep, and it even stuck with the story of Hager and Ishmael, while Ishmael was the one that wept. (May God bless them both). But we aren’t talking about Greek or Hebrew but Arabic. So Dan is pretty much using a completely different word, to begin with. Now I could understand that there could be genuine confusion because there is a word in Arabic which is Baka which means to cry, however, the root for that is BKY (ب ك ي). The words could sound the same but aren’t the same. Lastly, on this point, I can see where the connection came from because Petra was called the valley of weeping, because of the earthquake and people wept, etc.
He took hadith accounts and tried to run with it. The hadiths that he referenced described Mecca to have trees and rivers etc. While we know that isn’t the case when we talk about Mecca. So Dan decided to say that those descriptions are descriptions of Petra, however, those descriptions even contradict the Quran’s description of Mecca. 14:37 where Abraham prays to God and says that he left his family in an uncultivated valley.
Dan stated that Mecca was a trading spot, where people would come and go trading goods while the people of Mecca themselves were also merchants. While this wasn’t the case, a lot of the people were merchants yes, however, Mecca made the majority of their money by taxing the people to visit the sacred house. We see evidence of this within the Quran (8:33-35, 48:25) where the Quraish have control over who enters and who doesn’t enter Mecca.
To tie with the above point, Dan also stated that Mecca was called the mother of all cities in the Qur’an. But couldn’t fathom the concept that Mecca was an unknown when it comes to ancient maps, therefore, concluded that the Qur’an is actually talking about Petra. Since this is the word of God to us Muslims, and we believe that God is beyond space and time, it is quite clear that God gave it this name because of what Mecca was going to be. Just like how Abraham means father of multitude, no one would have ever believed that about Abraham at that time, because he was an 85-year-old man when he got his first son. So God looks at the potential of the situation, while we humans are limited through time, space, and scope. Millions of people come to Mecca so it is definitely a sacred place and it’s a city that never sleeps.
Dan pretty much concludes that the direction of prayer was towards Petra and not towards Mecca. And even examined a few old mosques that did face petra. I can see how this could cause issues with some Muslims, but it is my personal conviction that the Qiblah is only designed as a symbol of unity for us Muslims during prayer because we pray in congregation. While prayer isn’t limited to a certain direction as the Qur’an clearly states in 2:115.
Lastly, a keyword in ayah 2:144 is the 12th word in the Arabic text and its "Shatra" Shatra comes from the root word "shtr" which means many things but when it comes to direction, it doesn't mean the exact point, but close to the required direction. So we are commanded to face Mecca to the best of our abilities but if some were a bit off or even a lot off, no problem.
I'm sure this documentary fooled a bunch of people, but in reality, truth always prevails.

Hello@@henrypacquette1489, I hope you are well, and thank you for your question(s).
Yes, it does say so, I believe I even referenced it (2:115) in my original response above.
It was added to highlight the point that Dan's whole production is moot due to the fact that God doesn't need a direction to be reached, rather the direction is for our unity as a people, among other things.
Not sure I understand your second point/question. The message is easy to understand yes, "Belief in One God, and serve God by serving life". That's pretty much the crux. A child can understand this, but then Islam also caters to the deep thinkers that can take it to a scholarly level. So hamdillah it covers both spectrums.
Not sure if that's what you are looking for, but you are more than welcome to ask anything you want :)
      Good day

      1) if bekka comes from (ب ك ك) it would be (بككة). therefore bekka comes from (ب ك ي) so it can make the word (بكة) + the meaning makes sense than (ب ك ك). God said the quran was explained and detailed (Sourat 41:3 for example) so the meaning of بكة based on its root (ب ك ي) makes perfect sense.
      2) God said that he sent down Torah, Injeel and Psalms, and sent the Quran as a discernment (Sourat 3:3 - 3:4 for example). So as a believer, we must read those books in their original language and use Quran to detect problematic verses. in the case of the chapter 84 of Psalms, this chapter confirms what God sent before because both books talk about the valley of Bekkah. Therefore, for a Quranic believer, the chapter 84 of Psalms verse 6 and 7 are correct.
      3) why didn't you write the whole verse? Abraham tells god that he established his family in an uncultived valley and he demand him to provide his family with trees of fruits. Abraham came before Mohamed so if God accepted Abraham demand and blessed his family with trees of fruits, then when Mohamed was born those trees were already here.
      4) those verses doesn't prove your point in anyway??? they don't even mention Mekka it only describes how the believers were persecuted. Thus, Dan Gibson has solid elements to prove that masjid al haram is in Petra. But, nothing proves that this Masjid al haram was in Mekka so why do you use these verses pretending that it was happening in Mekka without any proof?
      5) Nothing proves that God in the Quran named the city that is called today "Mekka" to be named Mekka. you say you're a believer yet you assume stuff about God without anything to support it, if you're a true believer then stop your shirk by pretending that you know what God is doing. "Millions of people come to mekkah so it is definitely a sacred city". Dan explained with evidence why people started to go to mekka have you even watch the video? your arguments doesn't make any sense you just assume stuff based on your own personal thoughts the Abraham example doesn't support anything of what you said.
      6) If you're a true believer stop lying about God! God made us a Qibla towards Masjid al haram and told us to turn to its direction (Sourat 2:144 it is even used in this video! And you even used it in your commentary! Why are you lying!). in Sourat 2:115 Actually God says where ever you are where ever you turn God is here and everywhere. God is actually telling us that he is everywhere and knows everything and everything that happens. Again why are you lying!
      7) Lemme laugh a bit i'll be right back. Your argument makes absolute no sense! STOP LYING God never told us to face the city that is currently called "Mekka" . STOP assuming stuff about God when God himself never talked about it. Stop your blasphemy! Stop your lies! Open your mind and use your brain! This documentary is a tresor for people who seek knowledge! You're the fooled one!

That means that this relocation of the sacred city of Mecca was one of the most successful conspiracies in human history because all Muslims and non-Muslims of that time and all the rival clans (Ibn Zubeir in Mecca, the Umayyad in Damascus, The shiites in Iraq and the anarchist and extremist Kharijites who were everywhere) liked and participated in the relocation of the city and in the changement of the Qibla, and they collaborated to keep that secret and succeeded in that task for more than a thousand years !!

    1. Dan Gibson said that the name "Makkah" (or in the video spelled "mecca") only mentioned once in the entire quran. Other names are associated by Muslim scholars to the name of Makkah. Like "Bakkah" (becca) for example. Let us examine this. The name "Makkah" is a modern pronunciation of the ancient word "bakkah" means weeping. It originated from the story of Hagar and Ishmael. This story is also mentioned in the Bible. See the story of "Be'er Lahay Roy" (The Well of Lahay Roi) or we called it today "zam-zam" in the Book of Genesis. This theory also affirmed by RAMBAM (Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon - or Maimonides) when he wrote about Psalm 84:3-6.
    2. In the Quran chapter 2: 144 it was mentioned: "Turn then Thy face in the direction of the sacred Mosque." The Sacred Mosque (Masjidil Haram) is the Kakbah (the Black Box) located in Makkah. There is a narration about this verse when the Prophet prays towards Al-Quds (Palestine) he turned his back from Kakbah. This happened when the prophet was in Makkah.
    3. Dan Gibson also stated that "every muslims should pray towards black rock/stone in mecca." Well, again you should do your research well Mr. Gibson. Kakbah is not only a "Black Stone" or "Rock". It is a Mosque with a room inside it. It is 13.10 meters high, and 11.03 meters x 12.62 meters square in the inside. So no, it is not a "Rock" or "Stone". Thus it is called "Masjidil Haram" (Sacred Mosque) and not "Hajar" (Rock). There is a rock embedded in it, called Hajar Aswad (the black stone) but it was just a part of it. Not the Kakbah itself.
    4. Dan Gibson also mentioned that the Ummayyads and the Abbasids (during a civil war) disputed about the direction of prayer whether towards Makkah or Petra. This theory does not have any historical basis. He criticized the basis of Makkah being the Qibla (direction of prayer) and yet he speaks without any historical evidence regarding a so-called "historical event" :/ It was stated that the Qibla in the Mosque of Umar faced neither Makkah nor Petra because of the confusion. Well this is a conjecture with no evidence at all... This happens all the time in Muslim world, where the directions of Makkah is ambiguous because there is no modern map or compass whatsoever, so they estimated the direction with their limited ability and knowledge. In Indonesia, it happens all the time. So whenever the Sun is on the Kakbah, we see the sun in order to locate the direct Qibla towards Kakbah/Makkah. It is non-sense to say that they deliberately pointed the qibla neither to Makkah nor Petra out of confusion. What's the point then not to face one of them? Did they pray facing nowhere?? Non-sense!
    5. From the linguistic point of view, the Quran was revealed in Classical Arabic, in the dialect of the Meccan (though there are some variant recitations. According to a sound hadith - sayings of the Prophet PBUH- there are 7 recitations of the Quran). No connection whatsoever with the Petra or Jordanian people/language. In fact, Nowaday Jordanian Arabic was influenced by that of Classical Arabic, not vice versa.
    I rest my case.

An important fact is that the Muslims conquered Mecca in the life of the prophet Muhammad (SA). Before that the Muslims had visited Mecca once to try to perform Pilgrimage which was denied by Abu-Sufyan etc. In three of the descriptions of the Prophets migration to Medina, the first visit for pilgrimage and the conquest of Mecca, the traimvel narrations do not point towards such a large distance (from Madina to Petra).
Also, Muslims, starting from the life of the Prophet, annually visited Mecca and people repeated this pilgrimage several times for years. So it is not possible that the location of Mecca can change.

So he trying to guess at an important place that it could be. But he is wrong. He is right that modern Mecca and ancient Mecca are not the same place. The descriptions do not fit modern Mecca. Modern Jerusalem also is not ancient Jerusalem and they have not found any of the biblical stone cities. These place dont just disappear. And its not that they disappeared, they were never there, but some where else. These cities were hidden including the ancient biblical cites and Mecca. When you read the book When Rocks Cry Out by Horace Butler you will see where these stones cities still stand in the americas! Yes, it sounds impossible but the proof is having the stone cities! If you cant find the ancient stone cities and historical monuments like the Kaaba then you don't have the ancient geographic locations of these places.

    It is a great documentary.
The Sunnis and Shias split started after 632 AD and since then, each side only agrees with the other on religious and sacred changes that happened when the prophet was still alive, e.g. they both fast during the holy month of Ramadan. They both perform hajj. They both celebrate Eid ul Adha & Eid ul Fitr. After the prophet however, the Sunnis and Shias only agreed, sometimes on military change or political change, e.g. during wars. They never agreed on a single sacred change, till date. E.g. the Shias visit Imam Husayn Shrine in Karbala which is sacred up till today, while the Sunnis refused. Sunnis break their fast at sunset, when the sun is no longer visible, but there is still light in the sky which is sacred, but the Shias refused. They wait until all light has disappeared from the sky before they break their fast, and it goes on.
Now Ibn Zubayr (who was an Umayyad and also a Sunni) showed up, and change the qibla direction to Mecca in the missing year 70 (or 690AD) in Al Tabris's book. The question is: because both Sunnis and Shias today pray while facing Mecca, in what year did the Shias agreed with the Sunnis on that sacred change?

And that the story about Hajar and Ishmael about the well might be just that, stories to justify the existence of the well in an arid area that's seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
And the Maqaam Ibrahim, it's a stone that has an imprint of where the prophet stood when he built the Kaaba. If theories about the stone to be the related with the Black Stone that's descended from heaven is correct. Then I think that it might be coming from the same meteorite where the Black Stone comes from. Which matches the description that it's a stone that comes from heaven which can be interpreted as fallen from the sky, in other words, a meteor. Which then we can admit that the stone is definitely not of earth origin.
But this is just my baseless theory, and I think further research needs to be made about it.
I am a muslim, but I don't practice my religion through blind faith. I approach my religion through scientific views and always make sense of things using common sense and with historical socio-cultural contexts.

Hi... I'm a Muslim and have just clicked on this video and have not yet watched. I will be doing so and based on the comments I am really looking forward to what I might learn. But I thought I'd take a stab at answering the question in the title before doing so, and from the standpoint of a Muslim. It's extremely important to note that Islam is not a religion of idolatry and thus when we pray and turn towards Mecca it is not in any way a form of worshipping the place or of worshipping the Kaaba or anything else located there. The point of turning towards Mecca is merely done so because it unifies the entire global Islamic community in that we all face the same direction when praying as prescribed. It has nothing to do with the place or artefacts situated there. Ofcourse I have yet to discover what this video may teach me and I look forward to it... I may even add onto this once I've done so, but wanted to give my opinion on the direction issue from a basic understanding as a Muslim....

    • @erajoseph
      @erajoseph 9 месяцев назад

Wow.... this is indeed a fascinating number of points made.... The research is tremendous and I applaud the work done. I only have one huge issue with the monologue though... It's continuously mentioned that Muslims pray towards the black rock and I disagree with this. Muslims pray toward the Kaaba and the black rock has zero to do with the direction of prayer except that it sits beside the Kaaba. The black rock is just that... a stone... and it should not be misunderstood that we give it any more significance other than it was recorded that the Prophet PBUH was seen to kiss the rock. Many Muslims today don't even know it exists so it has no significance to Islamic belief at all. As for the direction, the rock has nothing to do with it and I'm disappointed that it keeps being mentioned as the direction in which we pray and as if it has huge significance. It doesn't at all.
In conclusion we were ordered to face the qiblah in the direction of the Kaaba... The Kaaba was never moved, just rebuilt in the same location that it was originally built in the time of the Prophet Ebrahim (Or Abraham) PBUH ... We know that's the location because that's where you will find the Zam-Zam well which was uncovered by his wife Hajr in a bid to find water.... Hence I will re-iterate that Muslims have not been praying in the wrong direction since it was prescribed that we face the Kaaba built by Prophet Ebrahim PBUH ;)
As for the archeology showcased I cannot speak to it much and it all is really fascinating. :)

You forgot to mention the well of Zamzam and the true shape of Kabba, and when has been built for the first time .. Some more points to mention:
1 - Human errors in architecture or locating the direction is possible “ the angle of the sun or the stars would be changed from season to season” never forget that people of Mecca and maddina are not used to building giant structures so you can do the rest of the calculations
2 - Ibn Khaldon the founding Father of modern sociology in his book “muqqadimah” was published in 1377 a.d 800years after the beginning of islam, He talked about the seven regions of old world “ mecca was in the region where non of the great empires of Roman and Persian where interested in because the Arabian peninsula was in chaos, harsh environment and low in resources except the south” so beginning of islam and the unity of arab tribes under one league was a shock.

For the direction of praying, what actually matters is the location of Kaabah, not the city it was in. Brothers,
Don't be surprised by minor deviation in the direction of the qiblah in early mosques in Islam as people in that era did not have acurate ways of finding the exact direction of qiblah. Even if you are off by few degress and than draw the line of qiblah direction form the mosque to Makkah it will look like a great deviation. Thats' the reason Prophet MUhammad PBUH said :
Ahmad said: Whatever is between the east and the west is qiblah, and a small deviation from the qiblah does not matter, but he has to try to get it right as much as possible. This was also the view of Abu Haneefah. This view is based on the hadeeth in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whatever is between the east and the west is qiblah.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, who said it is a saheeh hasan hadeeth. End quote.
In al-Muwatta’ of Imam Maalik (4600 it is narrated that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “Whatever is between the east and the west is qiblah if you face the direction of the House.”
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Sharh al-‘Umdah (2/539): Al-Athram narrated that ‘Umar, ‘Ali and Ibn ‘Abbaas said: “Whatever is between the east and west is qiblah.” And it was narrated from ‘Uthmaan that he said: “How can a man make a mistake with regard to his prayer when whatever is between the east and the west is qiblah, so long as he does not face the east deliberately?” End quote.

Given the trails of Abraham as described in Genesis, it makes much more sense that the birthplace of Islam would be in what we call Petra, also Saudi Arabian laws requires archaeological research before new structures can be built and there is nothing that dates before 700AD. And if there is nothing there before 700AD, then Mecca can't be the birthplace of Islam.

REFUTATIONS: I carefully examined the documentry and could not find one spec of concrete evidence. Here are six point that come to mind. 1) Becca inscriptions can be found in Petra for pilgrims going to mecca. 2) Mousqes mensioned in the researcher have a deviation of 12 degrees (not accurate but acceptable) and can not be used to direct Qiblas to Petra. 3) Mecca was not historically relavent till the advent of Islam as it was formarly a place for bedouin idole worshippers and had no significant geopolitical involvment in the region. This is why it is not in western maps at the time. 4) The naration of fruits and trees does not necessarily mean fields of greenery and could well be in reference to simple vegetation that grows where ever it rains. Remember Medina not too far from Mecca is known historically as a date tree oasis. 5) Historic evidence clearly shows Mecca (in now called Saudia Arabia) and not in Jordon, see authentic islamic sources. No historic or geological evedince can be found of Muslim pilgrims going to petra. 6) The Abbasi denisty is not historically known to have moved the Qibla from Saudia Arabia to Petra. I can go on for ever but all I can say is may God guide Gibson to the truth.

Changing the Qiblah @ Direction of the Prayer
Imam Al-Bukhari reported that Al-Bara' bin `Azib narrated: "Allah's Messenger offered his prayers facing Bayt Al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) for sixteen or seventeen months, but he wished that he could pray facing the Ka`bah (at Makkah). The first prayer which he offered (facing the Ka`bah) was the `Asr (Afternoon) prayer in the company of some people. Then one of those who had offered that prayer with him, went out and passed by some people in a mosque who were in the bowing position (in Ruku`) during their prayers (facing Jerusalem). He addressed them saying, `By Allah, I bear witness that I have offered prayer with the Prophet facing Makkah (Ka`bah).' Hearing that, those people immediately changed their direction towards the House (Ka`bah) while still as they were (i.e., in the same bowing position). Some Muslims who offered prayer towards the previous Qiblah (Jerusalem) before it was changed towards the House (the Ka`bah in Makkah) had died or had been martyred, and we did not know what to say about them (regarding their prayers towards Jerusalem). Allah then revealed:
      ﴿وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَـنَكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِالنَّاسِ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ﴾
(And Allah would never make your faith (prayers) to be lost (i.e., the prayers of those Muslims were valid)) (2:143).''
Al-Bukhari collected this narration, while Muslim collected it using another chain of narrators. Muhammad bin Ishaq reported that Al-Bara' narrated: Allah's Messenger used to offer prayers towards Bayt Al-Maqdis (in Jerusalem), but would keep looking at the sky awaiting Allah's command (to change the Qiblah). Then Allah revealed:
(Verily, We have seen the turning of your (Muhammad's) face towards the heaven. Surely, We shall turn you to a Qiblah (prayer direction) that shall please you, so turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid Al-Haram (at Makkah).) (2:144)
A man from among the Muslims then said, "We wish we could know about those among us who died before the Qiblah was changed (i.e., towards Makkah) and also about our own prayers, that we had performed towards Bayt Al-Maqdis.'' Allah then revealed:
      ﴿وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَـنَكُمْ﴾
(And Allah would never make your faith (prayers) to be lost.) (2:143)
The fools among the people, meaning the People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), said, "What made them change the former Qiblah that they used to face'' Allah then revealed:
      ﴿سَيَقُولُ السُّفَهَآءُ مِنَ النَّاسِ﴾
(The fools (idolators, hypocrites, and Jews) among the people will say...)
until the end of the Ayah.
`Ali bin Abu Talhah related that Ibn `Abbas said: When Allah's Messenger migrated to Al-Madinah, Allah commanded him to face Bayt Al-Maqdis (Jerusalem). The Jews were delighted then. Allah's Messenger faced Jerusalem for over ten months. However, he liked (to offer prayer in the direction of) Prophet Ibrahim's Qiblah (the Ka`bah in Makkah) and used to supplicate to Allah and kept looking up to the sky (awaiting Allah's command in this regard). Allah then revealed:
      ﴿فَوَلُّواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُ﴾
(turn your faces (in prayer) in that direction.) meaning, its direction. The Jews did not like this change and said, "What made them change the Qiblah that they used to face (meaning Jerusalem)'' Allah revealed:
      ﴿قُل لّلَّهِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَى صِرَطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ﴾
(Say (O Muhammad ): "To Allah belong both, east and the west. He guides whom He wills to the straight way.'')
There are several other Ahadith on this subject. In summary, Allah's Messenger was commanded to face Bayt Al-Maqdis (during the prayer) and he used to offer prayer towards it in Makkah between the two corners (of Ka`bah), so that the Ka`bah would be between him and Bayt Al-Maqdis8. When the Prophet migrated to Al-Madinah, this practice was no longer possible; then Allah commanded him to offer prayer towards Bayt Al-Maqdis, as Ibn Abbas and the majority of the scholars have stated.
Al-Bukhari reported in his Sahih that the news (of the change of Qiblah) was conveyed to some of the Ansar while they were performing the `Asr (Afternoon) prayer towards Bayt Al-Maqdis, upon hearing that, they immediately changed their direction and faced the Ka`bah.
It is reported in the Sahihayn (Al-Bukhari Muslim) that Ibn `Umar narrated: While the people were in Quba' (Mosque) performing the Fajr (Dawn) prayer, a man came and said, "A (part of the) Qur'an was revealed tonight to Allah's Messenger and he was commanded to face the Ka`bah. Therefore, face the Ka`bah. They were facing Ash-Sham, so they turned towards the Ka`bah.

Thank you for doing a "scientific research" on the fastest growing religion on earth. Many muslims, if not all of them, would agree with me that it doesn't really matter whether Muhammad was born in Mekkah or in New York, or whether the current location of Mekkah is different from the ancient one or not. Actually, muslims know that the ancient Kaabah was larger in surface than the current one, yet millions and millions of muslims come to visit this holy place every year.

Fastest growing? You mean fastest breeding... According to studies, 99.7% of growth is from high birth rates (Muslims have the highest fertility rate of any religious group) and only 0.3% comes from conversions. Studies also show that most converts leave after a few years. However, because of increasing prosperity, the birth rates are going down :) According to data from the United Nations, Muslim fertility rate has declined from an average of 6.4 births per woman in 1970 to 2.9 births per woman in 2020 (global average was 2.4 in 2020) and the trend continues as people become more educated and have less children, however, the decline in Muslim birth rates has been slower than that of other religious groups.
If you look in some Muslim countries, Iran being a good example as it's over 99% Muslim on paper, the majority of people don't even believe in god. In surveys done in Iran over 60% of people don't believe in any god, more for the educated young people. Islamic clerics are lamenting about avalanches of apostasy, things that you ignore.
A 2017 Pew Research Center survey of U.S. Muslims, using slightly different questions than the 2014 survey, found a similar estimate (24%) of the share of those who were raised Muslim but have left Islam. Among this group, 55% no longer identify with any religion. The number is increasing as more become educated...

    Beautiful answer from another commenter:
"Let me start by the end of the video to give an answer to Timeline’s question why no scholar give damn about answering the theory depicted in the video: no need for a Muslim scholar to debunk it. It’s too wild theory to be taken seriously by a Muslim scholar.
Do you need a history scholar to debunk a theory of moving Jerusalem from a place to another without leaving a several traces in nations history records? Such an event will be stored in the countries records for which this city (Mekka or Jerusalem) matters, whether from the communities for which these cities are holy or from their enemies or from their allies. Don’t you find it more than obvious?
    - “Makka was not mentioned before in history till the 6 or 7th century” quote like this one is just outrageous et non-sense : Mekka was known as Mekoba by the ancient Greek at least from the time of Ptolemy in the 2nd Century.
    - Makka is known in the history of Arabs as city within an entourage where each place got a name till now (mountains, caves Hiraa’e, cave of Thawr, Safaa, Marwa, roads, entries, ...). All these names are the same from ancient arab poetry to the written record of islamic history to the popular knowledge of people inhabiting Makk, the Hijaz region and the Arabic peninsula. Changing from Petra to Makka is not that easy. Moreover, this would have been a historical event which can be compared in terms of importance to the first revelation of Quran to the Prophet. It’s too holy to be changed like this without tough reaction from Muslims from all around the world. Remember the size of the Arabs empire at this time. No county was able to record such profanation.
    - Moroccan Mosques that were built more than 20 years ago give a prayer direction with a small angle of error like the ones shown in the documentary. All the new mosques with the arrival of the adoption and democratization of Mekka-direction compass, are directed toward Mekka with much more precision. It’s the same in other countries I travelled too. So it’s not a new discovery. Ask any muslim about this and they’ll confirm you that.
    - Did any historian talk about the Abyssinian invasion of Petra to destroy the Ka’ba? Never ever. For 2 reasons, there was no Ka’ba in Petra. Secondo, The Abyssinian invasion of the Arabic peninsula in the mid of the 6th century AD was targeting Mekka to destroy the holy city of Arabs and force them to adopt the Christian religion (a major church was built by Abyssinian in Yemen meant to replace the holiness of Ka’ba). This historical event is very known by the Arabs who were questioned in Quran about the intervention of God to safeguard the holy city of Mekka (to tell them that the God sending revelation to Muhammed is the same God of the Holy city, the same God of Abraham…).
    - The destruction of Quran copies by Othman : the guy tells what suits his theory but let me tell you what he omits: After the death of the Prophet, the 1st Calif Abu Bakr decided to compile the Quran in the order learnt by the Companions from the Prophet. With Omar, the future 2nd Calif, they assigned the mission to a Companion known for his mastering of the Quran in the life of the Prophet (and he was not alone, thousands of those who lived and supported the Prophet knows at least good parts of it by heart). The methodology was strict: they gathered first from the Revelation copyists the supports and materials on which they wrote the verses from the Prophet mouth, then they gathered the best companions who had learnt the Quran by heart and double check what they can recite with what is written in the support and cross-checked the recitations and the quran written supports. The revelation Copyists were Prophet companions in charge of writing down what was revealed to the Prophet each time it happened, they were called together by the Prophet to record it, each-one should write it down on any support he was able to afford - leather, wood, flat rock…Then these materials were stored in the houses of theses Copyists (blockchain principle : to have several distributed copies). We should underline here that the order of verses was taught by the Prophet to the Companions and Quran was given the utmost importance to be learnt by heart with the recitation rules taught by the Prophet. At the end of this process, Abu Bakr and Omar made a complete Quran checked and approved by the closest Companions to the Prophet, this Quran was considered as the Reference and was stored in the house of Hafsa one of the wives of the Prophet (daughter of the 2nd Calif Omar). It’s been stored till Othman the 3rd Calif would need it and then comes what he narrated. Othman did the best solution to make all the Quran copies used by the countries of the large Islamic empire identical to the one stored in the Medina as the Reference : he destroyed the old copies gathered from countries and gave them copies from the Reference. Is there any other solution better than this one to preserve the integrity of the Quran copies? The guy in the video tries through omissions to shade doubts on the Quran authenticity. But why doesn’t he tell the whole story? The Quran is the only religious book known by heart by tens of millions of people on earth since 14th centuries no other book got this preservation control from tampering. I my self know the third of the Quran (20+ Hizb). The Birmingham Quran manuscript, the oldest Quran pages found ever, dated to almost the time of the Prophet proved 100% that the Quran was not tampered : 0 difference between this manuscript and the Quran copies I have home.
    - He said that grapes were fruit not common in Mekka but common in Petra : don’t he know that Taif which is 40 miles from Mekka provide such fruit to the holy city? That some wealthy from Mekka at the time of the Prophet got agricultural lands there. There’s in Bukhari book (that he used a lot to choose what to tell to defend his theory) a story about the Prophet going there to ask for the support of Taif’s population leaders, they refused and chased him with stones till his legs got bloody. He hid in a garden where a slave brought him a bunch of grapes the very fruit that the guy used as proof it does not exist in Mekka. Moreover, thanks to its flourishing trade Mekka was wealthy and God in Quran remind the non-believers of Mekka in a chapter of Quran of that gift He bestowed on them. Moreover, “A city in a valley without plantations or agriculture” this is the description of Mekka by Abraham in a verse of the Quran narrating the story of him leaving his 2nd wife and her baby Ishmael in this Valley on the order of God/ALLAH. You can read in the Old Testament that God promised Abraham to make from this baby descendants a great nation. This nation, Arabs, knows the greatness once: thanks to Mohammed the Prophet and the Quran. Big Empire, one of the biggest, big civilization, proof for Atheists of God intervention in Human history.
    - Last but not least: The destruction by Arabs of the Alexandria library!? First, the library suffered several fires since it was founded in the 3rd century BC, when the Arabs came the library had suffered long centuries of negligence by the newly Christian roman empire who was no more interested in the pagan philosophy. Papyrus was the main material used for the books of this library and it made them fragile and can’t survive long years if they are not copied regularly. The books were already ruined and useless. Fire was better than throwing them in the Nile, the same Arabs helped promote the sciences from the Greek, Persian and Indian heritage the years after. Secondly Egypt was conquered with minimum battles because the small Muslim army managed to sign peace or submission treaty that protected the rights and the privileges of the Egyptian Copt and Christians. For these last, the library and its books were worthless because no Christian care about it and it's no more financed to me maintained in good condition.
I would cite more proves than that...."

True, some forgets the main ideology of how Islam should actually act, but most acknowledged it and actually preaching it even have greater understanding of Islam. Also, some people would react differently when their faith or what they truly believed in is being questioned you shouldn't be surprised about that. I don't know what your faith is, even if you don't believe in any religion, i wouldn't ask since it's not my business and you are free to choose. All indiciations show that Kabba was always in MECCA!
1)Majority of old mosques are built in direction of Mecca, not Petra! Also 1400 years ago they didnt had sophisticated methods to find directions, thats why some mosques are not built in most precise directions, for expl: Grand Mosque of Cordoba is built in direction of Africa!
2)People of Petra spoke Aramaic language while Muhamed a.s spoke Arabic and original Quran is in Arabic! -In University of Birmingham exist copy of Quran which dates from time of Muhamed a.s and that Quran is in Arabic! -There are Quran verses who says the Quran was revealed in Arabic, like Quran ch.Shura v.7 and ch.Yusuf v.2!
      3) During lifetime of Muhamed a.s,city of Petra was ruled by Byzantines which had forbidden both idol worship and animal sacrifice, yet history say that Muhamed a.s broke 360 idols that were in Kabba! Also Quran repeatedly refers to idolatry as a contemporary practice, calling the unbelievers to forsake their idols, which they look to for protection (e.g., Quran 2:256-57, 16:36).
      4) if Islam’s birthplace was not Southern Hijaz but a Roman Byzantine territory like Petra or Nabataea or Ghassan, or if it was a Persian Sassanid territory like Lakhmid, these great empires would annihilate the new movement at its very beginning, suspecting it as a threat - and we would more likely read the event in some of their records2. Then, as a result, we would not now read traditional Muslim stories like the migration of the Prophet’s early followers from Mecca to Abyssinia (Ethiopia), a much credible scenario as the latter is geographically nearer to Southern Hijaz3 than Petra or Nabataea.
      5) if Islam’s birthplace was not Hijaz but Petra or Nabataea - where people spoke Syriac Aramaic, the lingua franca of the region - then the Umayyad caliphate would not establish Arabic language across their Empire as the new lingua franca. Islam’s Hijazi origin is thus clearly evidenced by this replacement of Aramaic by Arabic as the lingua franca. We can witness the latter by an archaeological review of the dated coins and texts from the earlier Islamic centuries and by our observation of the events like massive translation of ancient texts into Arabic and adoption of the Arabic alphabet by contending nations like the Persians.!
      6) Here we can read the study of professor David King who refutes the lies of Gibson
      www.researchgate.net/publication/330221815_King_The_Petra_fallacy_The_Petra_fallacy_-_Early_mosques_do_face_the_Sacred_Kaaba_in_Mecca_but_Dan_Gibson_doesn't_know_how_Comparing_historical_orientations_with_modern_directions_can_lead_to_false_re

I would cite more proves than that, I tried to be as much concise as I can. I think it should be enough for the purpose of answering the last Timeline’s request of Muslim scholars to use their right to answer. Let them focus on other important subjects 😉

Qur'an mentions makka to be the place where prophet ibrahim(a.s) left his wife hajar(a.s) and son ismail (a.s) according to Allah(s)'s command.
And it mentions about the zamzam water and various hadiths mentions about it. And Ibrahim (a.s) and Ismail (a.s) built the Ka'aba there. Today you could find the zamzam well near Ka'aba. As per this theory that should be fake and there should be the original zamzam in Petra. Where exactly is it?
What about the other cities and places which were mentioned in islamic texts in relations to makka? Did you find the alternatives close to Petra aa well?
The documentary talks about lack of archeological evidence in makkah. What are you expecting? Pieces of ancient mosaic etc like you'd find in Rome or jerusalem? Makkah was a desert city with hardly any long durable structures. It was a small city with economy primarily consisting of agriculture, trade and the pilgrims who'd visit the Ka'aba. It was never an advanced city like Rome or jerusalem before islam and during the time of the prophet(s). Hadiths mentions houses and even mosques built with palm tree leaves and planks etc. It was later after the islamic empire's expansion the city improved.
This video is just a massive conspiracy theory with full of holes that the creator can use as food strainer at home.

@@deedee7780 the Qur'an was not put into text long after prophet(pbuh)'s death. His companions used to write it down. It was the physical compilation of it into a book that happened during Usman(a.s)'s time. There were hundreds of people who memorised the Qur'an (just like today there are thousands) Usman (a.s) asked the people to bring the writings of Qur'an and in the leadership of the prophet's(pbuh) companions who learnt and memorized Qur'an from him, it was compiled into a book form. Later the non standardized writings people held were destroyed and the copied compiled books were distributed into various governorates.
The word bakkah is another variation of the name Makkah which is still in the Qur'an denoting the city.
As a Muslim I should only look into sensible arguments. Not a grand conspiracy theory arguing that an entire city along with major landmarks including the ka'aba, the zamzam well etc was re planted to another place hundreds of kilometers away without any historical documents. It's like arguing that Paris was actually in Barcelona. People will ask you about the original Eiffel tower in Barcelona if you come up with such conspiracy theories.

Reading the comment to this production, I find that the main intended audience are non-Muslims in order to persuade them not to follow their curiosity and stay in the dark. But definitely not Muslims!

It is very correct that the intended audience for this video are not the muslims but those who may be drawn towards Islam. For those who want to consider Islam and by any rarest of chances are reluctant because of this video, here is a verse from Quran:
2:177. Righteousness does not consist of turning your faces towards the East and the West. But righteous is he who believes in God, and the Last Day, and the angels, and the Scripture, and the prophets. Who gives money, though dear, to near relatives, and orphans, and the needy, and the homeless, and the beggars, and for the freeing of slaves; those who perform the prayers, and pay the obligatory charity, and fulfill their promise when they promise, and patiently persevere in the face of persecution, hardship, and in the time of conflict. These are the sincere; these are the pious.

I was raised in a Hindu family from a Christian mother and father. But after I entered, I received guidance from Allah. When my grandparents went on pilgrimage for a full month, I decided to convert to Islam at the age of 9, but my mother was disappointed. Assalamualaikum to my Muslim friends and brothers from all over the world, greetings of peace and love, I am a Muslim from Bali, Indonesia

How unfortunate for you since the the name of the *Judeo/Christian* God's name in Arabic is *Ya'huh* (the oldest know form in Arabic) also *Yahwah/Yahwe (يهوه)* which is from the Hebrew‎ *Yəhōwāh* and/or *Yəhōwāh (יְהֹוָה - "He Causes To Become").* The Islamic god's name is *Allah ( ٱللَّٰه - "the God"),* which is both a title and a proper name, just not for the *"Judeo/Christian" God.*
It's not even an Arabic translation for the Hebrew *Elohim (אֱלֹהִים - "God" plural for greatness),* which strictly a title and not a proper name. in Arabic, the closest term to the Hebrew word would be *ʾālihat ( آلهة - "gods"),"* which is also strictly a title and not a proper name.
So who is *Allah? ( ٱللَّٰه - "the God"),*
      *Ēl* also *'Il
