Love the Garrett growth from "Ehh Final Fantasy?" to "IM THE 14TH SEAT MOTHERFUCKER!!!". Too Good.
Honestly, it makes me feel that his earlier behavior was being burnt out on Blizzard stuff but also being connected to Blizzard. FFXIV must have been an entirely new world.
I didn't realize the mods just told them exactly what to do and they didn't notice. Streamer vision is real.
Soken wrote "to the edge" while in the hospital, alone (due to covid restrictions), fighting cancer. so the song also has a special place in the hearts of the community
This was before COVID, but the rest is accurate.

@@Lordoftheapes79 He credits Covid with nobody else but Yoshi P and HR knowing because everyone was working from home, so he was able to pretend he was at home as well, so yeah, Lexxicon was right. They even noted that they had been planning another Primals Concert before Covid shut everything down.

You can't blame them too much in regards to the LB, since Tank limit breaks are only used in like 4 fights in the entire game, and one of those is an Ultimate.
Also, in case you missed it, if a DPS tries to limit break him when he isn't casting something, he'll use the Paladin's Hallowed Ground and take 0 damage for 10 seconds. Spooky stuff.
I thought it was him using Tank 1 or 2 LB? either way, hilarious :D
@@ExileTwilightits specifically the animation for Hallowed Ground alongside the call out phrase of 'Clad in Prayer, I am Invincible!'
I find it hilarious to feint the LB cast just to pull out that dialogue. Im sad they didn't react at ALL to him suddenly being invincible for 'seemingly no reason' especially since his dialogue overlapped itself. The Hallowed Ground call out overlapped his 10% call out of 'No, my Duty...not yet!'

Don't know if this was made clear but the duty finder "summoning" was not you taking over the summoning invocation. Azem's crystal is imbued with a similar magic to summon allies to fight alongside you since Azem, The Traveler, was a wanderer that protected people across the old world and the creator of the crystal felt it was a fitting magic for their dear friend.
I think it's not just a fitting spell but Azem's original spell that Emet copied and put in the crystal.
@@darkedge221 It's also why G'raha using the Crystal Tower to emulate Azem's summoning spell in 5.0 that pisses him off to where he says "Damn you! Damn you All!" with such anger in his voice. He sees it as a mockery of Azem's memory that they'd use the Crystal Tower to emulate that spell. But now that you have the Crystal with the actual spell, now you can use it anytime, even without the Crystal Tower and/or G'raha drawing upon it.

The creator of Final Fantasy(not even going to try to spell his name from memory) has played FFXIV. This was an extremely emotional moment for him.
I remember him saying how much he enjoyed it. And then about a year after he picked up XIV he admitted he hadn't played any other games in a long, long time because he was enjoying XIV too much.

To answer Garret's question: "Do you think chat is more 'this is staged' or "for the love of god someone tell them what to do?'" That looks more like "Yup, normal roulette run" to me. There's a multiple different ways for the party to fail this trial and it's not uncommon for a roulette run to go like this especially if it's a healer or tank that's new to it. I just go in expecting a party wipe or two and it's all cool beans.
"What happens if someone misses it?" in regards to Active time button smash. Well, you wipe. And start over.
Garrett: "He was never a ruler."
Me: "But he was a leader."
And I mistook him for a yard stick.

And that pose that he does at this timestamp is the one on the video game's box art. If you were a kid in the 80s looking at Final Fantasy on a shelf in a game store you'd see this pose.

i want to point out that due to Elidibus' size its posited that he is a child, adding to the whole complex feeling thing of asking an innocent child to become the heart of a god.
His voice remaining the same in his short form makes me think that he wasn't quite a child when he became the heart of Zodiark. Probably around young adulthood, with him just being a short guy.
No matter the case however, the end result is that it makes him look young and innocent, and it makes his final words hit that much harder.

I did this trial for the first time last week. Was a nervous wreck until I heard the music. Then it was just a great time. Seeing Emet pull us out of the void made me scream. Big smile on my face until Elidibus' final words

5.3 always hits me super hard...and it's a relentless over and over again hit that doesn't end until the final post credit scene! I still think this is a masterpiece that has yet to be beaten in it's overall glory.
Agreed. Killing Emet already destroyed me, but then Elidibus' final words were a wrecking ball on my sundered soul. By the time Seto and Ardbert reunited, I was just plain ugly crying.
Hurts even more when you learn later just how much Elidibus idolized Azem, but can't even recognize his reincarnation thanks to memory loss...

kinda the entire concept of shadowbringers, right? put the heroes in the traditionally more villainous roles, and vice versa. It tracks with the boss fight literally being the Warrior of Light
@@Stickarms99 The ancient wizard in the great tower, kept alive by unnatural means, surrounded by his loyal followers in the town below. Villainous more often than not. In true reverse-JRPG style, the Ascians' journey truly starts when their 'village' burns and they lose their home.

Not Exarch. Not G'raha. _Raha._ Showing a huge amount of familiarity (as dropping the tribal prefix for Seekers is reserved for close friends/family and companions) and reminding him of who he once was. Of who he has to become once more for his spirit vessel to work.

This is such a neat little extra that is often overlooked cuz of the HARSH active time and the lb bars but it is so cool.
And I may have made a macro for my paladin...
This trial has a lot of significance to me personally. Couple years back, my dog died right in my arms. Afterwards, I grabbed a beer, sat down hit random roulette, and was crying like mad. When it popped, I ended up in here. With 3 sprouts. I spent the run crying, doing new ie call outs, and my DRG. rotation, all at the same time. It was a really rough run, but downed him in one attempt. I've never seen this fight the same way since.
Is Garrett doing ok? He looked exhausted for this one.

There is actually a subtle hint to the tank LB. The gauge gets drained when he sends you to the void, then fully charged while he's charging his LB.
And there's a raid message to "trascend your limits to survive."

Oh yes, the Extreme is absolute hell, the first few times. But once you get in the flow, it's actually surprisingly relaxed... assuming everyone else also got in the flow.
Certainly easier than Hades Ex was. I got my Gwib of Light long before I got my Shadow Gwiber. At least now with Hades at 90 unsync you can skip the worst mechanic, though. Still gotta nail that LB with SoS!
The last quintuple spell or whatever it's called can be.. rough.. >.

If you want to experience these different content in an unique way, I'd suggest trying out Minimum IL, No Echo! They're great fun and let you figure out mechanics without having the stacking advantage of your IL or the Echo
Fairly certain that that's precisely what they already do. They've commented before on always doing content on minimum ilvl, and I don't think I've ever seen the echo buff icon after a wipe.

I know I'm late to this party (I'm going through all the videos, so I'm playing catch up), but I definitely love the fact that your mods are on board with you guys figuring things out blind. As Kyle said: "The organic experience." I adore watching people try and figure it out and I would gladly waste 5 hours in a sitting helping new people figure out a fight without telling them a thing (unless they ask).
I once taught an entire party of 7 that were blind for Ravana extreme (back when it was relevant and you couldn't even buy mounts with the currency), and they did want a play by play rather than figure it out as they go, but it was so rewarding to teach a full party from the beginning, phase by phase, on how to complete the fight since some folks just don't learn as well through video guides. I love sprouts. I wish I could adopt them all.

Many people don't register that if you use DPS LB3 against him he'll counter with Hallowed Ground to eat it, you can only DPS LB3 him while he is occupied.
I love at 39:47 Elidibus uses hallowed ground, Paladin's invulnerability move against the DPS LB3.

Not true at all. Its roughly 12k years, somewhat less.
It does mean a million years, but Elidibus is simply announcing his resolve. "Even should it take me a thousand thousand years, I will fulfill my duty!
