    Dentist here. I notice some patients tend to get easier staining from using mouthwashes too frequently, or even drying out their mouths. Personally I don’t recommend using it TOO often if you already have good oral hygiene.

    Hey i would greatly appreciate if you can make some time to reply when i was a little girl i chipped my front tooth but did not do anything about it. As i grew up it turned black and eventually started to get loose as per my dentist it was dead at this point i had to get a bridge in which they removed my front tooth ( it came out easily and it didn't bleed)and they chipped two teeth around it and placed a bridge in front any specific care about hygine i should take because my doctor just told me to not eat anything hard from front and to not fall again on my face?

    Hello Dr, is it possible to restore your enamel?
    I believe the enamel on my two front teeth began to wear away around the time I was in seventh grade. Since then, it appears that half of the surface of these teeth lacks enamel.
    It has not worsen more, its same for 13-14 years.

    This was very informative. When I heard that you're not supposed to rinse your toothpaste after brushing, I kind of stopped rinsing, well lack of better words, did my best to not rinse afterwards. I just spit it out with my saliva, I dont like the texture of toothpaste but, I just tolerate it enough.

And I look crazy! | understand the theory behind keeping toothpaste in your mouth after brushing, but have others been having the same problem I have? Love you Dr Yoo!!! ❤️🫶🌹

    1. Since learning about fluroride toxicity I switched to using fluoride-free toothpaste. Does this choice weaken my teeth long term? Should I switch back?
    2. Also, how long should fluoride toothpaste be left on one's teeth after brushing in the morning? If I can't rinse immediately after, how do I eat breakfast without ingesting fluoride with my food?

    • @dr.johnyoo
      @dr.johnyoo  3 месяца назад +2

      good rule of thumb is 30 min. American Dental Association recommends fluoride toothpaste. the concern with excess fluoride ingestion is more so for very young children who have different guidelines for amount and fluoride content in their toothpaste. (im assuming you are adult). If you're not swallowing the toothpaste, you're safe! Benefit to harm ratio is in favor of you using it

    Hey Dr. yo, question. What about dental bonding? I've been considering bonding because I can see the entire dentin underneath the enamel. From what I understand they don't shave your teeth down for it, and you occasionally might need touch ups?

    • @dr.johnyoo
      @dr.johnyoo  3 месяца назад +1

      yes bonding is more conservative approach to esthetic improvement but not always possible. think of bonding as ADDING material to the tooth. in some cases, this may be possible, but in some cases, bonding might make the tooth too bulky, requiring it to be shaven down a bit (veneers)

    #1 for sure! I switched dentists because the last one dropped the ball and I’m going to a great one now. The new one highly recommended me getting braces so I can save my back teeth from wear and tear (I haven’t had braces since I was 17 so this is going to be interesting). The tip about opening things with your teeth made me flashback to my mom using her teeth to take tags off of clothes. I begged her not to do it, but she said that her teeth were going in a jar anyway and that she didn’t care (I was 6 at the time and she was 35 😂). Every time I think of it I shudder because if I did the same thing with my teeth now…I’d be gummy 😂😂

      Just use 30 minute whitening strips for 10 days. It's a low concentration of hydrogen peroxide. Space it out every other day or longer if you're worried about sensitivity. Make sure you're using a toothpaste that protects for sensitivity (i.e. Colgate Total or Sensodyne).

    • @dr.johnyoo
      @dr.johnyoo  3 месяца назад

      good question. no to veneers on children. if a crown is necessary to protect the adult teeth in certain conditions, temporary solutions (such as metal crowns) can do the job in protecting the teeth until they get older. generally speaking, when teeth are still shifting around during development, a permanent adult crown is not appropriate
