    I love how you show that you don’t have to be an expert and knowledgeable about everything about the engine to change the oil.

    Bro thank you. I watched other videos that didn't go into like you did. My bolt was actual 15mm. Regarding of that... You'd are the reason that I was able to understand and do it myself. Feeling very accomplished right now. Good work man. Thank you

    GREAT Video!! Simple and right to the point!! We have a '16 1.6 as well and I've been having the stupid dealer change the oil & rotate the tires since it was new but they have priced themselves out of it for me, their "Works Package" is now $53.00 which is stupid!! We have just 37k miles on ours now and its been trouble free! I've been using the Motorcraft synthetic blend oil but will switch to Mobil 1 full synthetic that is made to go up to 15k miles and change at 10k-I did this on our previous vehicle (a 2006 PT Cruiser GT turbo) and sent oil samples in for the longest time at 10k miles and they said it had plenty of life left in it! Again, GREAT VIDEO!!!! Thanks!

    By the way priming the oil filter is filling it up with oil, not wiping a little oil around the silicone ring. Good video.

    A little trick that I learned when I turned wrenches in the Army was to hold quart bottles with the spout at the top instead of holding it the way you did, and the way most people do. A clean rag is still a great idea in case of a spill or dribble, but it the way I'm mentioning gives a lot more control over the pour, and there is way less of a glug glug sploosh in the process.

    The clean towel idea is brilliant, I never thought of that before

    Another trick that can help you keep from making a mess is turn the oil container over the other way so that the mouth is on the upper side. You’ll be able to pour the oil out more smoothly since it allows air to flow in. The quart sized containers are actually made to work that way.

      I believe it’s just the 1.6L that is 13mm and the larger engines have 15mm.

    The part you disconnected you get to the oil filter, what is it? I’m afraid to mess something up in the engine if I take it off tok

    • @mojorising627
      @mojorising627 4 месяца назад

      She just disconnected that tube to let you see the oil filter looking down from the front. You actually reach the oil filter from underneath (lift the car up on ramps) at the front so you don't need to disconnect that tube.

    Do you always have to use a new "oil drain plug" ??

    • @themorgansisters3
      @themorgansisters3  4 года назад +1

      If your oil drain plug is in good condition then you do not need to use a new one

  • @cousinfester4621
    @cousinfester4621 5 лет назад +3

    Why would you use Mobil High Mileage motor oil? That is designed for engines with more than 75,000 miles and leaky seals. Also, a Mobil-1 oil filter might cost a little more, but it will filter more of the finer particles than a stock STP filter. Otherwise it's nice to see how you reached the filter. Reaching from underneath is a pain.

    • @davejoseph5615

      Different engines require different amounts. Usually you estimate the amount and then check the dipstick before adding more.

    Thanks for the video. I am not sure why you trivialized how difficult it is to get the oil filter out and in past all the hoses. I have a 2015 and it is even tighter and super difficult to get the old filter past all the hoses and piping . Also you did not show how you got a filter wrench in there as well. What is the point of skipping this? It is the last time I DYI an oil change on this vehicle. Not to mention it is the last straw for me and Ford products.

      @@1436am the problem was not loosening the filter the problem was getting it past all the things in the way.

      I'm with you - trying to change my girlfriend's oil on her escape was such a pain in the ass. Couldn't figure out how the hell I was supposed to get to the filter. Watched this video and I'm like, oh great! Ya just magically untwist the filter, why didn't I think of that??
      Anyways, what I ended up doing is using two zip ties to pull the tubes around the filter out of my way. Then I just used a gardening glove that had some grip on it. Honestly, at that point I'd say it was actually easy. Got it off in 30 seconds. Hope that helps!

    • @davejoseph5615
      @davejoseph5615 3 года назад

      Yeah, the location of this oil filter is absurd. There are too many hoses around and under it. It requires finger-gymnastics to get it past the hoses. Get a big flat oil pan or you will have oil drippage all over.

    Good Video. But the location Ford put the filter in is Ridiculous. My wifes 2014 1.6 Escape has had 3 Transmission (1 from the factory then 2 replacements under warranty) and 1 blown engine (cost me over $4K to replace) amongst many other issues. All this work done under 120,000. This car is a complete lemon, I regret ever putting a cent into it. Her previous Lincoln MKZ was no better. I Just used this video as quick reference of Drain Plug & Filter Location as im done taking this hunk of scrap to the Dealership for anything. My 2004 Toyota 4Runner still have original everything at almost 300,000. only work done in 18 years is routine maintenance, oil, break, tires. Even still has the original suspension. Day & Night Vs The Ford.

      It is kind of easy just come in from the right side of the oil filter( if your staring at the front end) underneath the car and loosen , after it drained pull it down from the same side pushing rubber hoses out of the way being careful not to disconnect them

    Pretty basic stuff that anyone who's ever worked on their car, even a little, already knows! What would be more helpful would be to emphasize the more unique things about this particular make and model of car. ie. 1. type, location, and method of removal of fasteners for the "scraper guard" beneath the oil pan, 2. same for removal of engine cover on top of engine. 3. location of best floor jack contact point to lift front of vehicle without damage. 4. best location for placement of jack stands.
