I’ve followed your channel for awhile now. Especially for the GT content. After 6months of ownership of a 21 GT Premium, I needed something more comfortable, practical, and engaging. I would’ve never considered the GTI S, until I saw your videos. I tested one yesterday and I traded my GT. I got the manual and it’s so much fun. Financed $13k OTD. Could’ve be more happier.🤘
My 40th Anniversary GTI (in Canada) actually has the warning triangle in the trunk lid. Interesting difference. And I didn't know you can get out of manual mode by holding down the upshift paddle; I was just flicking my transmission knob down to D/S one more time
The fact that VW made several different lights use a GOLF ball pattern shows they still actually do care about the model. Excellent video buddy, thanks.
So I’ve noticed that when I put it into park after stopping, it will turn on the parking brake if I’m in an incline/decline. If I’m on level ground it doesn’t turn on the e-brake. Also if you come to a stop and you press the “start/stop engine” button, it will always turn off your engine, put it in park and engage your e-brake. Nice informative video!!
Excellent video my friend. When you showed the opening in the rear bumper at the bottom, its for the tail Hitch attachment which they offer. It may be in the canadian model I saw. There is a switch at the back of the rear seat which allows the hitch to drop down and come out. When you turn it off, it automatically goes back in so you wont know its there.
Great video thanks. Didn’t know the mirror will adjust itself when reversing or the dim function on the interior light. FYI you don’t need to touch the button on the interior light, just wave your hand under it.
thanks for showing that the gti isnt a miserable car to drive, from an interior perspective, because every other youtuber went ballistic on the haptic controls. might cop one of these bad bois before I head to med school instead of the elantra n
When you put the car in park…if the car is on level ground the parking brake will not auto engage. However if you are in a driveway or on a hill. Placing the car in park auto engages the parking brake.
My experience is that start/stop works even with Climate Control is on. It is a question of how hard AC needs to work. When you put it on Low, it means that AC should cool more and therefore it needs to work harder. You didn't apply Auto Hold. Therefore, the car didn't apply the parking brake. This is connected.
Great video man! Not sure if the S has it, but the se has cornering lights. So, like turning into a parking spot or taking a turn at low speeds at night, the headlights have an extra light the turns on when you make the turn. Thought that was pretty cool! It’s very noticeable as well
Oh the headlights and fog lights are very bright I love them! I seen some of the changes to the 2023, I’m glad I have the 2022 lol they put piano black around the shifter 🤮
I enjoyed the video! Thanks. I think your generous to call some of these issues features haha. The car makes a weird clicking noise, the side view mirror doesn’t go back to the correct position, the car indicates sport mode when it’s in actually in comfort. Those are defective issues man lol. Getting mine this week 🤘. Oh as for the parking brake, just a guess, perhaps it’s an automatic parking brake sensor. And without having the proper time to check if your level it will automatically turn it on to be safe. But if you give it time it knows it’s not necessary. Have you tried slowly putting into park on a big hill?
Hey man, so the clock noise at 7:25 when you drive off is actually the car locking. You can activate or deactivate auto lock after moving off. It’s for safety. But you are still able to open the door from the inside, it doesn’t fully disable the door handle
It does sound really like a Dyson, remove the Opf and put an aftermarket Exhaust on It will blow your ears the Ea888 Gen4 is very loud and deep voice compared to the Gti 7.
there is a customizable short cut mode represented by the little globe icon on the the left hand side above the volume knob when the infotainment system is turned on. you can select up to 4 functions to show here. i think auto start stop was already one of the defaults and I added the traction control button here as well.
I believe they have fixed the issue about it not remaining in the mode it was last before shutoff. My 2023 seems to stay in its last mode. Probably a software update to ask about at the dealer.
@@kcav1255 I purchased a 23 GTI S a month ago and can confirm that mine switches the transmission setting back to comfort/normal when turning the car back on. I usually have it set to Custom and the transmission set to E/Eco. When I turn the car back on I have to press the drive mode button and then press the Custom button once to get the transmission back to Eco transmission setting. This is true no matter which drive mode that you set it to. My 2019 GLI S did the same thing. The easiest way to tell is to have the digital cockpit show the GTI theme and you will see the transmission setting right under the GTI logo as E/S etc. Maybe the 40th got a software update, but my S came into the dealership around the same time the 40ths were coming in, so I would assume they have the same software... it would be great if they fixed it though.
@@sammiller366 Interesting. I also found in the manual where it states the car does remain in the last mode that it was switched off with. So if your car is reverting, it’s a bug not a feature.
If you select Drift or Special mode on the screen and then S or the selector lever, you get Manual M+ mode, which as the Manual states " The gear does not shift automatically when the engine speed threshold is reached." at 11:18 mark you have it Comfort + Manual engaged via paddle which is why it auto downshifts during kickdown? not sure.
Sport mode in the shifter just changes transmission and throttle response. Sport on the drive mode changes steering, exhaust pops, and the others as well.
Have you experience a steering wheel tug? Is that to do with torque steer or lane keep. Mine doesn’t do it very often but every so often it feels like the steering wheel will pull to one side briefly then go back to normal. It is rather startling.
