    DSG RULES! It's the best of both worlds... auto and manual! Be happy with your selection. If auto and paddles are good enough for Ferrari and Lambos, then it is good enough for the GTI.
    I have DSG, and I absolutely LOVE it. Glad I finally chose not to get a Mk7 in manual.
    Aside from that... to each his own.

      8 years ago I chose to get my first non 3 pedal car and GTI when I got my MK7 DSG GTI. Knowing I was going to tune it right away. 55K miles and the car is still going... but 8 years later I assure you my next vehicle will be a manual GT4 or GT3. I miss rowing through the gears.

      Ok tried it just now. It did take a bit, I think the key is it needs to have to correct left and right. On a road that curved to the left, it just corrected, the lane sensor changing to amber. In a "straght" road it corrected left, corrected right, corrected left and alarmed (red dash warning "no driver input sensed take over driving" or similar) I ignored that, and then the car activated the brakes, but also the ABS or something because the car shuddered. It didn't pull to the side, however at that point it wasn't safe to continue the experiment.

    You only should look at coilovers if you want to adjust your ride height. You can buy an aftermarket strut to pair with your springs for a lot less than coilovers. They usually go for about 1k as a package.

    The 1.6" H&R lowering springs would have been MUCH better if matched with Bilstein B8 dampers. The way I see it is if you're doing it yourself and have the time and love to tinker on your car, then sure just do lowering springs and expect a shortened damper life to do the whole job again in a year or 2. If I am paying for this to have it properly installed to include alignment ( the right way) then I won't take shortcuts. Best to do your research and do everything right the first time. I got the H&R springs but I am holding off until I get the Bilstein B8s and perhaps and perhaps a rear sway bay before I do the suspension.

    Owned a 2016 MK7 manual for a number of years. A manual 198.5 944 Na before that too. Just got a 2019 MK7.5 Rabbit in Cornflower blue that's DSG. DSG is very nice for where the manual falls short, comfort when you're in traffic, tossing the keys to a friend, amazing shift times, and a very fast 0-60. It lacks the connected feel and for the 7-speed DSG at least, it's very sloppy when it wants to change gears. Apparently, when you go to stage 1 with a DSG tune it's supposed to be better.
    Both are great but it depends on what you need it for. I did find my 2016 Manual GTI's clutch to be horrible. The stock clutch is notoriously bad for holding power. I'm assuming the previous owner for it abused it and it didn't last long. Upgrading the stock clutch to a Sach Stage 1 clutch (Dual mass flywheel, Sach is OEM for the stock clutch). It was 100x better to drive. I miss the manual, but I do love the DSG too.

    Gotta a 2015 GTI currently , I just test drove a DSG GTI. I hated it, doesnt rev match, wrong gear all the time. For me the gearing in comfort was too high at times and sport was too low. Ideally I could just switch between the two on the fly it seemed retarded. I think if your into track driving, autocros DSG is great, but if your just driving around the city and hwy, manual is a much better experience.

    • @BlackPeter203
      @BlackPeter203 Год назад +1

      That's got to be a settings issue, my DSG downshifts on deceleration, it's always in the right gear. I confess I've never bothered with comfort because without adjustable suspension, why bother. In fact, I stay in sport all the time and get 35-40 MPG

    • @bucknut2000
      @bucknut2000 Год назад +1

      @@BlackPeter203 I think he means downshifting while in manual mode. I just test drove a DSG and when i downshifted I felt the car shutter a bit inbetween the gears instead of a smooth rev match. Maybe I downshifted too aggressively or i was in the wrong mode the figure it out. The test drive was only 15 minutes so maybe if I had 30 minutes I get used to it. In auto mode, the car was fine but I had to hit the accelerator to get it to downshift. In my GTI, I would downshift than accelerate
