You are literally THE m50 guy. On the internet.
So excited for that speed booster coming out soon too!
Wow thanks man!! That means a lot! I am so excited for that speed booster. I really want to get something like a 20mm F1.4 with it. That would make epic 1080p and 4K!
pro trick : watch movies at flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Josue Draven yea, I've been watching on Flixzone for since november myself =)
@Josue Draven Yup, I've been using Flixzone for months myself :)
@Josue Draven Definitely, I have been watching on flixzone for months myself :)
I literally just yelled THANK YOU out loud when I saw you change the picture profile settings. I could not for the life of me figure out why my videos were coming out so awkwardly sharp and yours looked so good. I had changed my profile to "Portrait" but am excited to use the Neutral setting. I have literally watched TONS of videos about what settings to use for video and NO ONE covered this. You are the best, newly subscribed!
Thanks for all the videos for the M50! Very helpful:)
Thank you for watching them!
This is an exceedingly useful video, as I just got the EOS M50 m2 for my RUclips channel. THANK YOU!
You make this so easy to understand. So much more than anyone else I’ve found. Thank you!
You are THE channel I have been looking for. Not just the best but the one and only. I am so surprised that you only have only 403 subscribers. I always knew M50 had a lot of potentials. That is why I bought it for both photography and video. Great timing. Keep it up!
Thank you!! That means a lot!
I have been using the Auto color profile for the longest time and was never happy with it or any of the other profiles. This color profile setup is perfect and works right out of the camera. Combined with 24fps, my m50 feels like a whole new camera. Thanks man!
Awesome! That is the first thing I change.
Your videos are helpful. Just got my M50 yesterday and I’m very much so a beginner. You dove straight into changing the presets, and unfortunately got lost immediately. This little camera does have a lot of features and is a little tough to navigate.
Thanks! The more you use it the easier it gets. When you get the hang of stuff changing settings is pretty quick.
Just purchased the canon M50 a couple days ago and glad I came across your channel. I was lost until I found your videos lol. Thanks for all you do man.
Thank you for watching! Glad I can help, let me know if you have any questions!
@@TheCrowleyCrew will do
Dude, I wish I would’ve watched this before I blogged our vacation!!!! Ahhh!!! Love your channel, man! I have an M50 but really needed you a week ago... lol. Thanks for the help!
Thanks dude, just got M50 and started learning from your channel. SUBSCRIBED!
Hey! Just got the m50 amazing video!! Earned a subscriber, will watch your m50 videos for sure!
Welcome to the community! Let me know if you have questions!
Thank you so much for this information! My videos went from YELLOW tone to clear 😊
Just got my M50. I’m so happy that you represent for this camera! It’s not the best of the best, but still a damn good camera!
So glad I came across your channel. Thank you for this, it is my first camera and i am still trying to figure it out.
Awesome!! Glad I can help! Let me know if you have questions.
Well let's see all your videos again just bought a canon m50. Shout out from Portugal
Thanks so much for the awesome M50 tips. I have just brought the camera and your videos are packed with information.
Awesome! Let me know if you have any questions!
Fantastic video mate - really useful tips!! Thanks.
Helpful tutorial and tips 👍
LOVE when you show the difference. Thank you!
Thank You!
Great informative video . I'm going to test those settings 👌
im so glad i found this channel!!
I use my Canon M and M50 cameras the exact same way, with two differences only: I have enabled the Highlight Priority mode (found in the very last menu in the camera, quite hidden). This will force ISO to start at 200 and not 100 (which is still native for Canon, so you don't lose anything), but it will give you even more dynamic range in the highlights. And to squeeze even more dynamic range out of this camera, I'd suggest you look at the VisionColor CineTech (set contrast to minimum as well). It's the picture style with the most dynamic range than anything else out there (it blows Cinestyle and C-log away), and it's not flat (so you don't have to color grade if you don't want to). Check my "M50 cinematic tests" video on my channel with it.
Thank you so much! I have been looking all over the internet trying to find the native iso of this camera! It is so cool to have a community that not only I can help but that can help me! I will definitely check out your tests and look into visioncolor! Thanks again!
This is the best comment on the Internet about the M50, I'm getting it next month, so I'm trying to look for everything. Thank you . I had goosebumps reading your comment. I stopped writing, went to check out your videos. and Ohh maan the amount of information in the description. thank you again
We love your videos! You're doing such a great job! Great content and great personality!
Thank you!
I use these settings and they work perfectly my video came out great thanks for sharing my friend 😊❤️!
These settings helped me out a lot, thank you so much, I really mean it!
I really love this segment no wonder this will get mil views in just short period of time keep it up bro !!!
Thank you!
Love ur content and knowledge bro....it's a grt sigh of relief to see such good videos for canon m 50. I was afraid that I won't find any good videos for this camera.
Dude, thank you so much for all these videos. I’m starting to like and understand my M50, thanks to you!
You are very talented at vlogging too. It’s inspiring me to get my videos to a higher level.
Great video. One concern regarding stabilization. To get a GoPro stabilization, do I need a gimbal? Gimbal for camera is so expensive
Where do you get your background songs from? always love the songs you choose 👌 also congrats on the new studio bro, love watching your content. has helped me out alot
Thanks. I use epidemic sounds exclusively.
Hey man. I'll admit I didn't like some of your earlier videos and think I even said it at the time but you are putting out some great informative stuff now. Great video have subbed!
Thanks! Glad you’re part of the community!
This video just made up my mind on getting the M50.
Dude awesome content! 🎉
Thank you!
hey bro love your vids !! quick question do you use your ND filter in doors when you shoot your in home vids ?
loving your content and transitions!! keep it up.
Good job man I use the m50 for my vids as well keep it up 👍 love your videos!
Very informative video, thank you so much, could you PLEASE just give a main summary of what your settings were for THIS video in particular? (from 2:15 onwards)?
Awesome Video! As for the white balance, what settings on the m50 would you recommend for a clean white balance?
I made a video on that. Nail Your White Balance On The Canon M50

Love the content dude. Just bought the M50 and learning how to use it. Glad to see someone dedicated to this camera.
Thank you!
Hey man, you are the king of the M50 clan it seems. I myself am a 250 D guy but none the less. Great stuff. You are honest, nice and jovial with good content. Mu cuz is gonna buy an M 50, I will be sending him your way. Much love from India. Keep up the good work and that infectious energy.

Dude, really cool video, I actually sat with my M50 just now going through the settings, huge help, cheers man
Awesome! That is really encouraging to hear! Cheers to you as well!
The Crowley Crew WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT SETTINGS FOR THIS VIDEO IN YOUR ROOM AND ARE YOU USING A RING LIGHT 💡? REALLY NEAT FOR AN M50
F3.5, iso 125 and shutter speed 1/50.
I am using a $40 soft box and bulb to light it.
The Crowley Crew IS THIS THE KIT LENS OR THE 50 MM ?
Kit lens.
Great video. Just got myself a canon M50 this summer for pictures and vlogging. Like the M50 info you present, very informative ...subbed to your channel. Cheers
Thank you! Welcome to the community
Love these videos, I really appreciate the in depth suggestions which go beyond the typical camera review. My RUclips channel is just getting started but so far I'm really happy with the M50. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man! I think this camera is just about the perfect camera for beginning RUclips.
Your videos are great and so useful thank you! But maybe next time if you could also show how to get to those settings and what buttons to press to change the autofocus and to change the ISO for people that do not know anything about how to use a camera and barely know how to switch it on that would be much appreciated 😂💕
Thank you! Yeah this is actually a older one of my videos and I have learned that I need to do more deliberate B-Roll like that.
Just bought my canon M50 so I will be checking out your set up videos a lot! Thanks for the good advice. I've been shooting on an i phone so it'll be interesting to see how the camera reacts.
Awesome! I think you will enjoy it!
Great video - an example of your point about enhanced stabilization would have been helpful.
Yeah, I made this at a time before I realized the importance of that stuff.
Great video, thank you. I have just bought this camera and try to figure out the best video settings 👍👍👍
Awesome! Happy to help!
I am always waiting for your vid's about the m50 to apply it on mine.. i use to get some ideas frm you.. thank you..
Thank you for watching and it is awesome you can use some of these tips!!
Yes it is.. thanks
so cool editing:) And driving by skateboard :)
Thanks!
Love your videos bro! Watching them all!🙏
Thanks man! Enjoy.
I've been seriously considering picking up the M50. Would you consider it a good beginner camera? Appreciate the videos. Lots of good info. Thanks man!
Yes i bought mine last wednesday..! Impressive camera..
I think this is a great camera for a beginner. It is simple enough for a novice, but it is something that you can grow with. I absolutely love this camera!
The camera is a great buy. I got a T5i and upgraded to the M50 with no regrets.
Thanks for your videos. I've been struggling to get a clear video image using all your settings on my M50. Have even reset to factory settings, gone auto, then manual, then applied your settings again. My image is a little grainy like the ISO is way too high. Yet I can see that it is not. Are you really using the supplied lens? Your image in this vid - esp around 3:30 is super crisp! How do you do it? I also find the M50 struggles to track focus on me, yet yours seems to do it so well?
I used the 15-45mm for everything in this video. I have not found any noticeable noise when shooting at anything up to ISO 400. If you have instagram maybe you could DM a test shot with the settings your using.
@@TheCrowleyCrew just watching your feb 22 video about indoor shooting - which is all I'm doing - and it's very helpful. Something I'm struggling with though: I want to film in 4K, for maximum res and to kind of future proof my videos, yet I find the AF kind of flimsy in 4K. Is that why you film in FHD? What's the difference between Single Point Focus and the dual point focus that appears as an option when filming in FHD? Thanks Job!
Thought at first that my camera was malfunctioning. It turned out that I just had to follow your advice and now it works perfectly fine! Thanks a lot
Awesome!
Your lighting setup looks awesome! What lights are you using?
Thank you! They are in the description. It is the $100 light kit from DSLR Video Shooter.
Hi! I like your video about m50. But I have a question regarding the stabilization? My videos are shaky 😓i have a m50 too. What is the best setting for that? Thank you!
Hey, I have one video about the digital IS. In short, if you have lens IS then I would just use that. If you don’t have lens IS then I would use the enabled mode in the digital IS. If you are trying to hold the camera still on an unmoving subject then you can use enhanced. If you try to use digital IS along with Lens IS then it does weird stuff. I also checked out a B-roll segment in one of your videos and it looked like you where shooting zoomed in a lot. The more zoomed out the easier it will be to get stable footage. The last tip is jut practice. The more you use it and test out different ways of holding the camera he more stable you’ll be able to keep it. Hope this helps!

Great B roll. Good work.
Thank you!
Thank you for this video. I am anxiously awaiting my doorbell to ring today for my M50. I will be using it for RUclips as well as some "MOMtography." I watched your lens must have video as well and I am happy to hear someone FINALLY speak highly about the kit lens. I also purchases an adapter and the 50mm f/1.8. I am DYING for the 22mm because EVERYONE seems to love it. I am going to be binge watching you videos today. I am VERY NEW to the camera world so I find this extremely helpful
Have fun playing with it! Yeah I love that kit lens. As I said it isn't the best, at least optically, but for me right now it is the ideal lens. For "MOMtography" I think the 50mm Is great it is going to give stunning portraits. The 22mm is my wife's favorite lens for chasing kids around. It is wide enough to keep a child in the frame but it is not distorted like a ultra wide. Then the bokeh from the f/2 is so good.
Your tutorials are great! Now I would like to know how you edit your vlogs and what kind of light set up you use when you shoot your tutorials indoors. Many thanks in advance! :)
Thank you Luna! I plan to make some editing videos in the future but it will probably have to wait until I get a faster computer.
Thanks for all the helpful videos👍I really like the colorgrading of your videos. Are you working with LUT‘s or is this direct out from the M50? Thanks for your reply
Thank you! It is pretty much straight out of camera. I have a video we’re I talk about color.
Hey thanks so much! This video was extremely informative. What is your opinion on shooting in 4k with the M50?
Thank you. For 4K I think it looks good but you will need to use wide, fast lenses and manually focus. Overall it is about average quality. Much more data than FHD though.
Hey! Your video looks very clean. How come when I adjust the aperture it darkens the image and once I hit record, my shutter, aperture, and iso automatically adjust as I move my camera? I have the dial on top set to "M." Thank you!
It is because your shooting in the photo manual mode. To get to the video manual mode you switch the the camera on the mode dial and then at the top left of your screen you’ll see a camera tap that and it will bring up a menu where you can switch between auto movie mode to manual movie mode. Hope that helps.
@@TheCrowleyCrew awesome, thank you!
very helpful. really. Thanks why I really want to buy M50. Question: in your B-roll, what lens do you use? particularly these vids.
Thanks! For most everything I used the 15-45mm kit lens. It it wide enough to vlog and gets telephoto enough for better b-roll. I really like the old kit lens the 18-55mm better for b-roll but the 15-45mm is better for vlogging.
Love ur way of explaining
Love your videos but would appreciate it if you can show exactly how you get to specific screens in each menu. I found this channel as an M50 newbie wanting to learn the camera and there are so many menu tabs / items for each setting it would be great if you guided us to the screen. Spoon feed the monkeys.
Thank you. I am working every video to make it more clear. I have some newer videos that go into more details with examples.
Yeah, I'd have to pause to find it. You could also put details of what you're doing in the description
I hope you can do some 4k stuff in the future and the IBIS as well. Have you thought about doing something on the custom menu tabs to. Keep up the great work man.
I do intend on doing 4k content especially with the speed booster. I really want like a 11-16mm f2.8 or something. That would be awesome to keep it at 11 with the speed booster in 4k then zoom into 16 in 1080p that way I don't need to switch adapter but also don't take a hit in my apature. I definitely need to do a video on the digital IS since I figured out how to use it somewhat.
Thank you! Just found your channel!
This is very helpful bro. Keep it up. I hope u can dig in some more about canon M50. I suggest that you can do some tips and tricks for night photography or videos for M50. Well you know, lots of critics about the low light performance and it is very interesting if you can make something about it.
Thanks man! I definitely have to do that. I hear people trashing the low light all the time and I would like to show how to get good video, including slow motion.
The Crowley Crew 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man I finally got a Viltox EF-M Adapter. I excited. Today I am headed out with my EF lenses to shoot and you around. Even my EF-S and M. I am going to test them all out today. Dude I sat down for about 2 hours setting everything up on my camera last learning as much as I can for today.
Awesome! Hope you have a blast!! I really want to get more EF and EF-S lenses. I need to figure out which one will be the best with the new speed booster coming out. I really want a fast wide lens.
I just discovered your channel and dude you rock! You’re super detailed and great at explaining. I just recently got my cannon m50 a week ago and don’t really know anything about cameras. I have a RUclips where I do makeup tutorials and I also vlog, will the settings you showed in this video work for both of those types of videos? Or should I change the settings if I’m doing a sit down beauty tutorial verses a vlog?
P.S. I’m going on vacation to Hawaii in a month and want to get some super cool shots for my vlog so any tips or tricks would help!!!
I have a video where I go through the steps on how I set exposure. I would check out that one and I have a bunch that of videos that teach about B-Roll. I would also look into a fader ND filter which really helps in outside bright environments.
The Crowley Crew do you have the link to the exposure video? I checked out the B-roll videos! Def helped! I will check into the filter. Thanks again any tips or tricks definitely help! Keep up the great work and I’ll def be supporting you 👍🏼👍🏼

Welcome to the community!
Hey boss. If I get the Sigma 56mm lens.....What should I put the aperture to, do I need to change it? The Sigma lens has really good blur in the background so if the lens already does it, what should my aperture, shutter etc settings be at? Also the lens doesn't have image stabilization but I am going to use a gimbal. Should I keep Image Stabilization on and enabled in the lens even when I'm using the gimbal to get extra stabilization? Or is there a downfall to having IS on with a gimbal? I appreciate your videos, thanks!
Hey man just found your channel and it’s been a great help! I just purchased this camera for my channel and let’s just say it’s quite a bit more complex than shooting with my iPad. The last 2 videos I shot were with the m50 and I can tell a difference. If you had the time to check them out and maybe shoot me a few tips in getting the camera working better for me I’d appreciate it!
Awesome! I will try to check it out if I get a chance. I tried using my iPhone the other day and was soooo underwhelmed I didn’t use any of the footage. Maybe I am just spoiled.
The Crowley Crew thanks! I appreciate it!
I appreciate the information and as someone new to the M50, and cameras in general, it would have been super helpful to see where to find these settings.
For example: in the menu go to the camera icon, #1, down to X etc.
Brilliant! Am looking to shoot some interviews and really didn't want to get into all that colour grading coz of the "Having a Full time job" problem 😁Thanks for the tip.
One of the best m50 journey ...
Thanks for the good information! 👍🏻
Thank you
do you have any other ef-m lenses that have IS? I just bought the 22mm but don't think that one has IS.. was really excited to use it as my main lens!
I got the smallrig cage you suggested. And I want crazy from from there. I had some EF lenses canon 24-70 f4 which is a heavy piece on the rig but the image is so sharp. I got the EF-S 10-18, 24 f2.8 pancake lense. Then for native lenses I got the 15-45, 22 and 11-16. All great lenses.
Epic! That is an awesome kit! do you like the EF-S 10-18 or the EF-M 11-22 better?
@@TheCrowleyCrew The EF-s 10-18 and the M 11-22 have f4-5.6, both have IS and STM. Brand new 10-18 is $280 (used about $150ish), 11-22 is $350 (used about $280-$300ish very in demand). Both feel weighed the same. Differences are size and the 11-22 has a closer macro range. Suggestion I would get the 10-18 to start. But both have excellent images for both photo and video. My wife bought it a long time ago with another camera. With the M50 the image is much better then the M3 we had with the 11-22. Hope this helps.
Hey. Would love to see a video on how the different focus modes actually work, and what single point and AF etc actually work technically, and what’s best for when
I may do another video on that. I am not sure if I would be the best person though.
The Crowley Crew why do you say that? I have been watching more and more of your videos. You seem to know a LOT about the m50
Just because I am not the best at scientific explanations. I understand okay but cannot explain as well as I understand.
Quick question. What's your metering mode and do you switch between modes or just stick with one? NIce vid, subbed.
You get the absolute most out of an M50. Subbed!
Thank you!
I also have a full time job. Shooting films is a side job for me..dont have time for the intense color grading.
Should I shoot in JPEG or RAW + JPEG?
Thanks
I usually use JPEGs unless I need to do in depth editing.
@@TheCrowleyCrew thank you for your response
Really like your channel.
All the way from South- Africa
Thanks!
Are u using M50 camera in ur room?and what sittings?looks dope
Yes. I have been using the M50 for everything for the past almost 1 1/2 years.
The setting are F3.5 ISO 125 shutter 1/50 frame rate 24fps 1080p. I have a video about how I set up my studio on my channel.
Awesome video thank you!
Nice video!
What are your regular video shoot settings when u just talking to the camera @4:11 ???
Thank u so much!!
I just did a video on that. Search my recent videos for “setting up a simple RUclips studio” and I go through it in depth.
You’re way too good to only have 905 subscribers.
Haha, thank you! We had 708 last week! I am excited for the ones I have right now!
How about for me? What kinda settings should I use?
I just built a new studio with all black curtains around my drumset.
Ran some tests the past few days at 30fps, 1/60 shutter, servo af, zone af pointed at the snare drum, 3.5 aperture, 400 iso all the way up to 800 iso and I'm still getting noise on the black curtains 🤔 but then if i lower the Iso, the image gets so dark, and then my lights make my face look blown out.
I have lots of lighting. 1 aputure 528w on left and right side of my kit above the kit to the sides, 1 aputure in the middle pointed towards me with the tungsten diffuser, 2 neewer 660 bi color leds at daylight behind me on both corners, and i just got 2 yongnuo 360 2 tube lights for in the 2 front corners of my kit - i think these may be too harsh on their own, not sure. Should i return em and just get 2 more neewer 660's?
Do i reposition all the lights?
Is the issue in my camera settings?
🤔🤔🤔
Which lens do you use for vlogging? Is it sigma 16mm 1.4?
I use the 15-45mm kit lens. I want to try the 16mm some day though.
@@TheCrowleyCrew loved your grading... 😌😌... Just with kit lens.. U make great contents
Hi what lens did you use to film the majority of the shots in this video? Vlog shots and stuff
I used exclusively the 15-45 kit lens.
The Crowley Crew absolutely stunning footage. You’ve made me want to buy one! And I think I’m happy with the kit lens. Thankss from Australia
Thank you! I actually have a video where I talk all about the kit lens.
Love your videos. I'm new to the M50...please let me know how to edit the videos on the PC. The MP4 won't open on Premiere Pro. Thanks
I use Movie Studio 12 for editing on my PC. I would google that 'cause I know a lot of M50 shooters use Premiere.
So they say to always put it on manual focus which I agree can help any suggestions because I seem to have this nervous tick that if I'm too far away it won't be in focus and if I'm not looking in the view finder and using the LCD monitor I feel as though it may not be as sharp and focused am I crazy or is there a reason for my thinking this
Thanks for sharing, nice work.
Thank you!
Hi, what are best m50 setting to record outdoor soccer footage? What if any post processing should I consider? Thanks!
I would say try to shoot in 1080p 60fps so that if you have a really cool play you can slow it down. Also you could go a little higher on your shutter speed say 320 or 400 so if you want to take a snapshot it will be a little sharper.
I know I'm real late but damn you're a real one thank you 👏🙌
hi. u made this video with the m50 and the settings u showed us in this video and u did not color grade it? Thanks
Yes the settings I showed were the settings I used and I did not color grade.
wondeful my friend thanks
Very good. U earned a new subscriber
Thank you! Welcome to the community
Loved these and all of your M50 videos. Dumb question: does the lens that comes with the camera (15-45mm) has it's own IS? I don't think so, but someone told me it does.
The 15-45mm kit lens does have lens IS.
If you go into the menu the 5th tab in the first section you’ll see the IS setting and there you see IS mode when you have a lens with IS (that is your lens IS) and you also have digital IS which will work with or without a lens with built in lens IS.
