2 Tbsp (40ml) - Olive Oil, Divided
300g (10.5oz) - Raw Prawns, Peeled & Deveined
1 - Brown (Yellow) Onion, Diced
4 - Garlic Cloves, Chopped
3 Tbsp (60g) - Concentrated Tomato Paste
100ml (100g) - White Wine
500g (1.1lbs) - Cherry Tomatoes, Halved
250ml (1 Cup) - Thickened Cream
1/2 tsp (0.5g) - Chilli Powder or Flakes
10g (0.3oz) - Flat Leaf Parsley, Roughly Chopped
10g (0.3oz) - Basil, Leaves & Stems Picked (Optional)
300g (12.3oz) - Shell Pasta
Pecorino Romano To Serve
Seasoning To Taste
Method -
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta for 1 minute less than the packet instructions.
2. In a large, high-rimmed pan over medium-high heat, add olive oil and cook the prawns for 1 minute on each side. Season to taste and remove the prawns from the pan.
3. Add diced onion and seasoning to taste and sauté for 4 minutes, mixing regularly. Add the garlic and sauté for 1 minute, mixing the whole time. Reduce the heat to medium, add tomato paste, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Deglaze the pan with the white wine, add the cherry tomatoes, mix well, and cook for 5 minutes. Season to taste and cook for 8 minutes or until softened and broken apart, squashing them with a wooden spoon. Increase the heat to medium-high.
4. Add the cream, chilli powder or flakes, and basil stems (optional), simmer, and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 6-7 minutes or until thickened.
5. Add in the parsley, cooked pasta and cooked prawns with any resting juices. Mix well and adjust the sauce consistency with the pasta water. Check seasoning and remove.
6. Serve in bowls. Top with grated pecorino Romano cracked black pepper, and basil leaves (optional). Dig in.

I want to say i SO APPRECIATE the fact you mention alternatives throughout the entire recipe. I often find trying new recipes so inaccessible bc i dont have an ingredient or something is too expensive for me. So genuinely thank you for how u teach ur recipes
Always here to help and will always have alternatives 🙌 thank you

Hi Jack, looks a great dish. And so delicious. Thanks for sharing.😮😊🎉
My pleasure 😊 thanks Des
Big fan of the way you talk through the prep of each ingredient when you're listing them at the beginning. I've been caught out many times being half way through cooking and the recipie says I need to dice something!
Awesome! Glad you like it. I’m trying out new ways to keep the videos engaging
Amazing!
Thanks!
Can't wait to dig in! 🤘👍
You know it 👌
I love it Delicious
Thank you 😋
Iam falling behind with all your recipes😂 another fab and delicious pasta...and above all...super easy.... loving them all😍😋😋😋😋
There’s been quite a few new ones recently. Pumping them out. Thank you Smita
Hi Jack, i can't wait to try this 90% of the ingredients i already have, as you said. I mainly follow your meal prep series, i thought that with a few tweaks, this recipe would fit well, mainly with wholemeal pasta and low cal sauce. Am i right in thinking that instead of cream, i could use high protein greek yoghurt? If so, should i use the same quality as the cream?
With your fantastic meal prep series, you helped me lose 5 1/2 (approx 35kg) in 10 months. Thanks for your help. 0:00 0:00 0:00 0:00
When I was a student I used to make something really similar to this but instead of cream I would use goats cheese - obviously flavour is going to be very different but my god it was tasty, it's cool to see an improved version going to have to give it a try!
mmmmmmmmmm....delish !!
This one is incredible
Try that cherry tomato hack where you use sandwich the tomatoes between two plates and run your knife through to slice them all at once.
I can’t justify scraping my knife in between 2 plates 😬
Hi Jack, been a fan of the channel for a while now! But one thing i never really understood was when is it better to deglaze with vodka instead of white wine? Both ideas seem good for a rose sauce, thanks for the new recipe to try out anyways!
I have a few pretty similar recipes. It doesn't always need to be super fancy when you cook. Doesn't take long, doesn't cost much, tastes good and it's reasonably healthy. I'd wager even with the prawns this is cheaper than ordering in, but I usually use deboned chicken legs (reheats better than breast) as it's cheaper. :D
I made this with chicken and abit of chorizo. Very good
Looking tempting 😊 Today's I have already made a chicken vegetable pasta, so I will try next week
Please do!
@ChefJackOvens thanks for your reply. love from Pakistan
Is there a healthy substitute for cream???
Perfect timing, was wondering what I was gonna bother to watch tonight
Hi Jack! Do you have the nutritional info for this one - calories and whatnot? Thank you! :)
No black pepper whispers? I'm reporting you😭
Haha
I was wondering do you have any recipes using Rice Paper wraps. The summer is here I was looking to eat something a little lighter this summer. It can be with meat, seafood and vegan. Thanks for sharing.
❤❤❤❤
Does this dosh reheat well is your put in fridge or freezer? I've never cooked with prawns before
This one does reheat quite well actually. Just be careful when reheating it and add a splash of cream when you do. Heat over medium heat
@ChefJackOvens thanks for taking time to respond to question
I do something similar but like to add some chopped chorizo and chicken instead of prawns
Very nice! The night before I filmed this I made nduja prawns with rose sauce. Cured sausages are amazing.
@@ChefJackOvens I hope you filmed it! 👀
Looks amazing thank you. Could you substitute Parsley with Oregano or does the recipe call for Parsley? He asks because he has a shit ton of oregano growing in the garden....😃
so can i add more pasta to the sauce without having to double or triple the recipe of the sauce?
Definitely. If you do, add a splash more cream though. You won’t need to worry about anything else.
What kind of pan is that Jack
Hexclad 👌
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😌😌😌
🙌🙌
I like USA everything is big portions.
I’m in Australia
What would be a vegetarian alternative?
Vegetables.
Is this a low budget recepy in your country? Prawns in Holland are so expensive…
You can replace with any type of meat at your choice tbh.
I worry about him when he doesn't whisper "20 cracks worth"
Nothing budget friendly about this meal, you even added wine to make it more expensive to cook.
Budget friendly as opposed to eating in a restaurant or takeaway, but literally everything is budget friendly at that point.
You can get a half bottle of wine wherever (splits) for like $4-5… or full bottles for $10… doesn’t have to be a great wine. You’re cooking it!
@@partysmoke $5 wine isn't budget friendly, a minor ingredient like wine in a meal should not be costing more than the meat which provides the nutrition in a budget friendly meal.
The only time wine is budget friendly is when you're a regular drinker, putting it in the meal is just a bonus use.
And I said you can use stock. Prawns can be swapped with chicken. This is pretty cheap
