In 2020, relations between India and China fell to their lowest point in several decades after a deadly clash in a disputed border region in northwestern India and China’s southwest. The two Asian powers clashed over the Line of Actual Control (LAC). One of the most hotly disputed border zones in the world, the LAC demarcates Indian-controlled territory and Chinese-held areas. There is also bilateral friction in several other border areas, most notably in the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. China’s annual defence budget of US$261 billion is more than triple India’s US$71 billion, but is China’s war chest big enough for Beijing to ensure it would inflict a knockout blow in a full-blown conflict?

Borders are not like lines. Even Himalayan mountains contain large portion of northern India. You can't just decide that this side is yours and this side is mine with hundreds of miles of border. Few clashes are inevitable.

These border conflicts are the summary of a not completely establishes clear border between both countries when the peoples republic was founded (resulting in both countries having disputes who owns certain regions). Both countries want more land, also India gave refuge to the Dalai Lama, who ist wanted in China for being the former religious leader of Tibet, which became part of china (again) in (i think) the 50s or 60s. All of these points lead to these conflicts. This is one of the few times the west was not the reason for a conflict overseas.

I'm Nepali, putting politics totally aside, Nepal will be more affected if India-China war happens cause we are in between them and you know the relationship and stuffs. That's why HM Government of Nepal proposed UN to make Nepal an officially recognized "Zone of Peace" to avoid harm because of its strategic location. 130 country agreed to recognize Nepal a 'Zone of Peace' till 1975 but it was India and it's magnet ally Russia who used veto to cancel this proposal. That's why I kinda feel sad for the fact that we were never supported even from our neighbour to protect ourselves from threat. Imagine 130 countries, including 4 veto power nations accepted but cause of 2, we didn't get that recognition. If it would have been accepted, Nepal would officially be a country following 'Non-Aligned Foreign Policy' and UN would provide us resources to protect our border from happening these circumstances. But, but at last what I'd like to say is that this comment by no mean means hate to India or China, just fact. I pray for PEACE in this region.
