    She sings
CLARAmente = clearly ("Clara" the name of the mistress)
SalPIQUE = Splash ("Piqué" the cheater)
She outting their names in the song.
So she is profiting out of the cheater and misstress,

Also when she says she is worth 2 x 22 year olds she makes the gesture that Pique makes with his hands/ fingers when he scores a goal. This was always a tribute to their birthdays that are on the same day February 2nd (02-02). I think one thing you missed is that Shakira became a successful famous singer in the Spanish speaking world long before crossing over and singing in English. She's alright in English but the style is different and she's not phenomenal like she is in Spanish. Your surprise at how good she sounds in a modern context is really surprise at how much better she is in Spanish. She's amazing. The tone you're surprised at is normal for her and always has been, but just in Spanish.

It's also similar to "miente" which would make a lot of sense with the lyrics too. "Her name sounds like she's a good person, Clara lies, it's not how she sounds" & "Clara lies, she's just like you". It's so weird to me when i hear people say they haven't heard a Shakira song in a decade or so. She's constantly on the radio in my non spanish speaking country and she's a huge celebrity, more than Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. Shakira has been around for 30 years and she still makes headlines and scores hits with spanish music which is a rare phenomenon, no one else does it like her! My biggest dream is to attend a show of hers in South America where people really have a good grasp of her magnitude as an artist. She's a legendary icon and a very talented musician. Check out more of her music outside her international hits; Shakira is praised for her genre versatility as well as her songwriting skills that separate her from other artists; you witnessed one example with that song!

You should definitely react more to Shakira! She has always released amazing music, she has done a lot of different styles and this song didn't disappoint. Like you said, it's really "aggressive in some way lmao but that's what I love the most. The lyrics are just everything and more if you know the Tea and if you know Spanish since you can get all the play words. 😂 When she released this song everyone in latam was losing it because we all knew what was going on. She's just so iconic. 🔥
Anyway, she can be a really versatile singer but it's more known globally for her characteristic way of singing. To give you more context about this, Shakira was born to a Colombian mother of Catalan and Italian descent and a Lebanese father. She says she grew up in Colombia but also among the Lebanese and Italian communities.
When she sings she uses Arabic scales that gives her her signature style even though it isn't that common in pop music.
Her father told ger to “protect the vibrato in her voice. A voice without a vibrato is worth nothing.” She never made it onto the school choir because the kids said she sounded like a goat and the teacher didn't want her because her voice basically overpowered the rest of the choir. This was in her early, early life. But then proved them wrong!
Having said this, I recommend you to react or listen to: Ojos Así, Día de enero, Antes de las seis, La Bicicleta, Beautiful Liar, Si te vas, Inevitable, Can't Remember to Forget You, Monotonía, Las de la intuición, Te Felicito.... Those are some of my favorites Shakira's songs. 💜

A while back she had to get vocal surgery and she lost her voice for a bit, that might be why her voice sounds a bit different to you. Regardless, as a Shakira stan, her discography in Spanish (which is the majority of her discography lol) is actually extremely diverse (which makes sense because it's her native language) and I definitely recommend anyone check it out ! She's done so many different genres throughout the years. She's been famous in Latin America since she was like 18, and she's consistently released music in Spanish that has pretty much made her a landmark artist in the Spanish-speaking world and internationally, except the US pretty much. For example, I would argue that 'Hips Don't Lie', for example, is probably one of her worst songs (not to say that it's bad at all, I don't think it is, but it goes to show how different it is between one language/world vs the other).

I don't know that much about her, but I do know she's constantly seeking to learn more about herself, her voice, the world, everything, and it's obvious with this song (if it wasn't already obvious with the hundreds of songs prior to this) that she will call shit out when she sees it and she isn't interested in taking prisoners. I can't believe that two of the best songs in the past few years - this and "Flowers" - were both released within days of each other.

There's something really nice about hearing a singer rip someone a new asshole in their mother tongue. The emotions are just so raw and the word play is hella interesting usually.

Omg it's unbelievable how Americans have been missing out on Shakira's Music, she has been well known all around the world for making huge hits for more than 30 years, she's literally the definition of a Global superstar.

Ok I’m colombian and I feel the urge to jump in and say: 1. Finally a song in Spanish!! 2. Get ready bc the tea is just starting 💅🏼
So a few things that would only be noticeable if you know Spanish: when she says “sorry if it splashes you”, in spanish is “sal-PIQUE”… which is the name of her ex. And theeen… when she says “clearly”, in spanish is “CLARA-mente”, which is the name of Pique’s new gf 💅🏼
Bizarrap (Bzrp but pronounced bee-za-rap) is a famous producer and he does a 1-time song (called session) with various singers. He is pretty huge in LATAM 🫡

I think Tristan needs a lot more of context of the relationship that Shakira had bc every line is a direct reference to him and his new gf AND SHE LET IT ALL BURNNNN like she says in Spanish "no es mi culpa que te sal-PIQUE" and her ex's surname in Piqué 🫣😬🤪👀 HAHAHHA or she says "tiene nombre de persona buena, CLARA-mente no es como suena" and the new gf's name is Clara!!! HAHHAHA omg

It's soo weird to hear that someone only knows Shakira from her 2000s English crossover mega-hits lol... While I wouldn't say I'm a huge Shakira fan, since my mom was a huge fan in late 90s and sis was in 2010s, I've heard her quite and bit and respect her not just as a woman but an artist. I highly recommend listening/reacting to her early grunge/pop era (late 90s early 2000s), if not some of her other popular pop songs. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it is in some ways similar to Alanis morissette, her pop rock era.
Antología, dónde están los landrones, que me quedas tu, ciega sordomuda, estoy aquí are some. For her pop, she wolf would be great to see a reaction from lol. But deja vu, loca, or perro fiel are some other suggestions. Idk it's just that there's a little more to Shakira and other Latin artists who made successful crossover hits

So yes I believe that Shakira's native tongue singing is noticably different.. less of that soft pallet sound used. Her English, I believe it she used her iconic sound like every line, every song. I have been a fan for many many years & I think her voice has changed but maintained HER sound. Like Britney has that sound when she sings.

Bizarrap is an argentine producer that started doing sessions in his room and later had his room rebuilt in Miami and Spain (I think) where international singers could film their sessions. You should check some others like Nicki Nicole or Nathy Peluso.

Shakira can change her voice to sound any way she wants, depending on the song. She does have that distinct gloteral sound to her voice. Shakira has never stopped putting out music. She has lately dropped two other songs that correspond to the same theme as this one. The songs are "Monotonia" & "Te Felicito". In addition, she performed at the Superbowl with JLo in 2020. It's one of the best Superbowl performances ever. You should check it out.
