Hey, great video! I had able to use your video to diagnose the exact same problem. My setup is vastly inferior so i couldn't check the filters. My quick question: you tested the coil and it appeared to have continuity. Mine did not. Does that mean my coil needs replaced? Thanks!
Hey Brian, glad I could help you out :) the coil does need to have continuity in order for the switch to allow current to flow through to BQ24193. It may "appear" to not have continuity sometimes if you don't press hard enough with the probes. The coils are difficult to get a good connection on sometimes, best thing to do is to add some solder to each side of the coil first to make sure you're getting a good connection

I have never repaired a board before, but I work on computers almost daily. My switch got that error message while plugged in to a nintendo switch charger. However, it wasnt my charger, it was an extra laying around at work. I have a soldering station ordered as well as a chip. I hope I have steady enough hands for the repair and that the chip is all that's wrong. I do have a multi-meter so ill do the same tests when i take it apart.

Hello congratulations you are good , I have a switch with error equal to your video I replaced the connector type c and IC charging m92 now the error screen and go away the console works but instead of charging the battery is discharged despite on the display indicates the lightning charge, in your opinion what could it be?
It could be a number of things to be honest. It could be q bad m92 (even if it's new). It could also be q missing component somewhere near m92 or it could possibly be a bad P13USB, BQ24193 or bad coil near BQ24193.
One thing you could try is to charge it with a normal 5v USB cable instead of the official cable. If it charges at 5v let me know because my son's switch does the same and discharges at 15v, I've just never got around to fix it for him so I could do it for a video
I'm having this issue with my lite, turns on without a charger in it, but if I press the power button once, it acts as I've I've powered it off, so sleep mode is not possible anymore, neither is charging.. wonderful
Only have one question do you know how much would it cost to get something like this fixed and any places I could like smell it too or something like that cuz where I live I don't have a place that fixes switches
A bit of a newbie at board repair but I think I've got the same issue here, the customer started experiencing the issue with the error on boot after they had replaced the battery with a third party one. I wonder if that was just coincidence? Alternatively maybe there was some user error while installing the battery like accidentally touching something with a metal tool? Would love to hear anyone's thoughts on this!

My switch just gave me this error code literally yesterday. I'm definitely not going to do all this bc I'll just mess it up more. I don't mind sending my switch in to fix it. Just gotta figure out where to go to fix it
You can talk to Nintendo Support, I'm sending mine off with a shipping label soon. It's going to be free, unless something is really wrong with it of course. (Probably depends on how long you've had the device though.)
You have a 1 year manufacturer warranty from Nintendo.
This error code happens aswell when the audio IC is removed. (after switch logo) you get this error code. .
only only know this because I was getting another error code relating to the speakers.
my left speaker was crackling causes another error code
if I removed the speaker the console worked fine. but I wasn't happy so I looks at the audio IC.
third pin on the bottom on the audio IC was gone.
just spent 2 hours rebuilding the trace and soldering a new audio IC.
working on both speakers now. probably not worth the repair as stereo on the TV and via Bluetooth always worked fine. it just bugged me.
(would of been easier to jumper from the right speaker and have Duel speaker mono)

@TheCod3r ever had an M92T36 go bad with 0 shorts? I just had a customer bring me a switch, no power, not charging and just blinks on the dock, generally a blinking green light on the dock to me a telltale sign of a bad M92T36 or a bad USB-C port.
0 shorts, swapped the M92T36 and all is well now. Never seen this before with no shorts at all.
It could of been that it had been blown open due to heat just constantly being passed through it, when something breaks it will go short, then if for what ever reason current is still allowed to pass through eventually its going to burn and break something open. That is totally up to the protection that is on the circuit though because I've had something similar and the fuse on the battery had blown.

Hi mate. Typically for this error code it's between £50-£70. £50 if just the chip is faulty but if the port needs doing aswell I charge an extr £20. The return postage has to be added on too which is usually £8.85 in the UK for insured delivery
If it's possible you're taking orders where would I have to go to fill out a form for you to work on my own switch mine has a different error code: 2134 - 0501

I used a faulty charger I guess on my switch because I’m getting this error now and no matter how many times I reset, it gives me the error. It sucks that you need to replace an entire chip just for accidentally plugging in a faulty cable
Hi mate, dont know if you can help me but im getting the same error as you, also wont charge. Ive fitted known good battery and get the error. Ive checked for continuity over all capacitors you checked and they all seem fine.. not sure what else to look for! Any ideas?

It's usually something to do with the port yeah, but could be the charger too sometimes

If you have the 2101-0001 code I'd try changing M92T36 anyway regardless of the multimeter readings. I do those tests just to help people learn but you can get that error and have M92 faulty with normal readings too
@@TheCod3r I decided to replace it anyway even before you reply. Thank you very much for your reply. Still have the same result hypothetically I guess there’s a chance that the chip is not aligned properly after replacing it? The system still turns on but just still shows that error message
did you use the same chip that was on the board? or did you use a different one?
I replace the chips with new chips (or chips from donor boards) but use the same part number as the manufacturer installs :)

Had a few pins get bent on my switch and managed to replace the port and all was well for a few months. Then I got an error and my switch never turned on again. I am no where near skilled enough to do what you just did. Goodbye animal crossing save, my dumb butt never backed it up. 😥

@@TheCod3r thank you and yeah i bought 3 years warranty being apparently hopeful that it might have issues after a couple of years not days XD gonna see if i can get it replaced since it's only been out the box a few hours so something must be up with it as it was only just set up. seeing this vid made me realise i was in too deep and needed to just contact the place i got it from
@@moose_and_squirrel1006 1 year manufacturer warranties are free with purchase. They don't tell you that, they'll try to sell you a third party extended warranty.
@@vgrepairs thanks XD i scheduled to return it from the site i got it from and they said theyd check if it was tampered and if not refund me so i can repurchase. just a pain in the butt process and one i can't do bc i'm busy with dissertations but i'll get it done hopefully soon
