    It turned out so cool! Making me want to design enclosures for my dream reptiles that I probably won't get in at least the next 3 years😂

      Linnea H I do not think that would be a bad idea. Start designing something now, so you can fix any flaws before you produce the final project. I planned out this enclosure a month or two before we actually started building and we still had to figure out what exactly we were going to do. I would recommend figuring everything out before you start the project. This way you can be absolutely sure of what you want to do before you start building. Also honestly sometimes I design enclosures for animals I do not have just for fun. On a side note I would do three years of research if I were in your shoes! You have so much time to learn everything you can about the animals you want. Learn not just the basics about the animal, but also every other part. Go in depth about every part of their husbandry. Learn not only the advantages of having the animals, but also the disadvantages. Anyway, thank you for the comment, and good luck in your future animal related endeavors!

      @@DIYReptiles yea I spent like a month or two planing my crested gecko's enclosure and it was so much fun, it's honestly like half the fun just planning xD
      Yea definitely it's like at least 4-5 years until I can get the reptiles I want in the future, because wanting to do as big of enclosures as I can for my animals and a small student apartment don't really mix well sadly. But it gives me a good amount of time to plan and research them so that's nice at least:)

    Awesome! That’s honestly one of the best, coolest enclosures I have ever seen! It certainly way better than most zoo enclosures I have seen lol. Great job!

      Shelled Reptiles Thank you! It is certainly very cool to have in my room. I would have to agree that it is more appealing than most zoo enclosures just because of the fact that this one is Bioactive with live plants.

    That's a very cool enclosures!! I really want to build that kind of cool enclosures for my iguanas but considering now that I have 16 big iguanas, it's impossible LOL. I just let them roam free in my backyard.

    • @DIYReptiles
      @DIYReptiles  3 года назад +1

      I would imagine building enclosures for them would be quite a huge undertaking. I am assuming you live in a tropical or subtropical environment. It would be so great to be able to house my iguana outside all year round.

    • @madelinewhitney832
      @madelinewhitney832 11 месяцев назад

      @winatriwibowo - 16!!! How are they all kept from leaving the property?! Or..are they not? As in...maybe they have more of a wild-style freedom, where they [can] come and go?
      I don't know. I don't believe I've ever seen or heard of a situation quite like the picture your comment painted in my head! I'm in agreement with the OP in my assumption that you're likey in a tropical area. If you wouldn't mind sharing a general idea of where youre located, I'd love to hear about it. :)
      Note:
      *I realize that I am 2 years behind with my reply.......... but I just now came across this video and all its comments. After reading yours,, I really can't help but to feel compelled to inquire further aout your situation !!🤓🤓🤓
      **I am hoping that you do still end up seeing this , as delayed as it may be...😁😁 & IF in fact you DO-- then I hope that you might have the interest & free time to share with us some more about your yard/16 iguanas/set up in general!! So very intruiging! 😍😍
      Either way, thanks for sharing. Cheers :)

    Very cool vid bud. I have been wondering what was used for the stone background and what plants I could use in a bio terrarium for some that aren't toxic for my blue iguana. Thanks so much for the tips , I subscribed 😊👍.

      I am glad that you found this video helpful. I wish you luck with your blue iguana. Here are some other plant options:
      Hens and chicks
      Jade plant
      Hibiscus
      Pothos
      Corn plant
      Aloe vera
      It is important to keep in mind that even a small iguana can quickly destroy plants. I hope this helps. Have a great day!

    Hi friend this is awsome, how do you heat all that space? Sorry for my english

    • @DIYReptiles
      @DIYReptiles  3 года назад +1

      Actually your English is great! I have read a lot of really poorly written comments. My room tends to not go below 69 degrees Fahrenheit. It generally gets around 80 degrees during the day. I just use a ceramic heat emitter for the basking area for the iguana, but I have a ton of other heaters for the other animals that end up heating my whole room.

    Beautiful enclosure!!! Though I did have a question. How do you monitor to make sure that Charles won't each the roach's? Do they do better than isopods when it comes to bioactive enclosures?

    • @DIYReptiles
      @DIYReptiles  3 года назад

      Thank you for the compliment! I am sorry I did not reply sooner. There is really no need to make sure Charlie does not eat the roaches. I am not about to tell you to feed a herbivorous reptile insects, but it has been observed that herbivorous reptiles will make use of protein when it is available. As for the second question, they really do not make very good clean up crew. I am not even sure that there are any left in the enclosure at this point. Most of them jumped into the water dish the day after adding them to the enclosure. I recommend isopods and springtails for clean up crew.

    • @Fluffaloo
      @Fluffaloo 3 года назад

      DIY Reptiles No worries! Thank you for replying! Lol those roaches are just as silly as the isopods. I have done research for a while on iguana diet and their natural habits. Even so, I wanted to get a second opinion or experience just to see how it works for you. I guess I just like to study the natural behavior of the pet iguanas out there, especially the ones with the bio active enclosures. Thank you for being one of the owners who include enough protein rich/sufficient greens in their diet so that they can live how they are supposed to. Another thing was that I was curious on how well the roaches do when it comes to cleaning but it is good to know that I can use isopods in a similar manner. Thank you again for the response I appreciate it!

    Can I ask what the Styrofoam is for that you put under the branches?

    • @madelinewhitney832
      @madelinewhitney832 11 месяцев назад

      I think to just lift it away from.the backboard a bit, since he was also adding that foam to cover in the rocklike material.
      I imagone if the branches and such weren't lifted a bit, more of them would end up covered/swallowed up by the foam/rock background, leaving less exposed branch in the finished product..

    How come the doors won’t get moldy over time?

    • @DIYReptiles
      @DIYReptiles  4 года назад

      The doors are stained and vanished. I believe the doors were actually made to be used outside, so this is basically just like using them outside.
