  • I try to get whatever reptiles I can outside during the warm months to get that natural sun shine as much as possible. After long last and a summer of building our outdoor iguana enclosures are finally done! Roxie our Cuban rock iguana and Levi our green iguana will be able to live outside for the summer in their new homes! In this video I show what we built and give steps for you to build some outdoor enclosures too if you are curious about trying it yourself!

Looks great. I think for me Id want a solid floor only because we have all kinds of racoons foxes possums and skunks. It is their mission to get my chickens and parrots. I really like the openess of your cage. Thanks for sharing. I live in a part of California that never gets snow but does get too cold.

You should have used Galvanized Screws with treated wood.
The painted exterior screws will rust and break off.

Your iguanas are spectacular! You did a great job on their new home and I look forward to watching them enjoy and you adding things to make them even more comfy! You might find you a spot on the web to sell your blueprints for the enclosure. Nothing to wild, but a little bit for your efforts and for the iggies!

At Clyde Peeling's Reptiland we had several greens and rhino iguanas. We used to have a summer zoo open as well in Catskill NY. The area collapsed financially, so we stayed in PA.

Looks absolutely amazing Adam!!! The cage itself is built really good. Can’t wait to see them out in the summer.

Do you think the iguanas will end up digging themselves out?

Do you have any issues with them digging or trying to escape? I'm building my green iguanas cage and I want to make sure sure he can't dig his way out.

Nice work pal, the pvc wire is a must for my iguana too, she rubs and scratches all the time but options are limited and expensive, I go with the green pvc coated wire they sell at home depot

I was looking for it but I guess during quarantine too many people started up gardening because every one near me was sold out 😅

Since cycluras tend to dig quite deep, you may want to consider digging the floorig of her side of the enclosure and lay a cheap non-coated wire 2-3 inch deep into the ground, then cover it back with dirt and rocks. Your external 10" security underground wall is good for outside intruders but may not be enough for her if she gets the right angle from the inside. For the wood, on top of the treatment you had on the boards, I suggest you apply spar-urethane once a year, when spring is on (now). This will maximixe the life of that enclosure by years. You paint it with a brush and give it 2 hands 24hrs from each other. The wood will become 100% waterproof and look nice and neat. What about adding a small palm tree into your green iggie? Would that survive the winter? That gives it a tropical look and something tall to climb on for her.

I also have two that I would love get outside on their own when weather permits. What was the approximate cost for this if you don't mind me asking?
