People seem to think that the spinning light-up pokedex does nothing, but I have it on good authority that it does scan real living pokemon if you manage to find one in the wild.
Ill go get mine!
C o o l
BeastMaster64 could have used that 😂
If you chuck the hoenn Pokedex at the ground hard enough, it glitches out and just repeats the word anorith over and over while showing anorith's picture. Me and my brother did that, and it was funnier than picle rick
Where do I find real Pokémon? Do I set a salamanders tail on fire?
Here's a fun fact: The pokedex that said "scan your pokemon" doesn't actually do anything. That's literally it. It just spins and says scan your pokemon. Theres a version in japan with a screen and actual functions, but the one in america is just that.
Yeah, the Interactive Pokédex, looks super cool. Didn’t they bring an English translation to America though?
@@JimBobJoeB0b I have absolutely no idea. Last I saw, it was a japan exclusive but I don't exactly keep up with the pokedex scene, assuming such a scene exists.
I bought the one he had in the vid thinking it was the interactive one
bruhhh
Omg i had one when i was 10 and i tried my hardest to get it to scan ANYTHING

And it was good

I can't believe pikachu was supposed to be in bw but was later scrapped just like a bunch of other kanto region pokemon that were also scrapped from bw

I was thinking the same thing XD
I cannot stop laughing and watching the intro again and again only to realise yoshi was there and completely lose it
@@Cosmicdev58 Ralsei pfp spotted, you have my respect
Patter has the best intros
@@Cosmicdev58 Noticed many great profile pictures, you all have my respect
what's wrong? yoshis a completely normal pokemon, it evolves from dragonite!
Donald Duck with a gun.
I love how Peter's drink kept having the valve sound next to it, it's almost like it's a certain item from one of their games
Snipin's a good job, mate!

@@scalderm sinistea
Jarate but real
I actually have the Sinnoh pokedex! It somehow managed to elude "the void where things from your childhood disappear to forever"
Can't tell if you are getting into pokemon or hate it even more
I’m thinking the same thing 🤔
he can't hate pokemon - if he did, his in-laws'd _never_ let him show up for the holidays
Maybe he could consult Peebs about it.
Lol yep
@@notj1ackson He’s in between and he makes playing Pokémon toys a bit more adulting. Like he even used the Pokéball guessing game wrong.
I like how the 90s one is literally the most featured and best looking. The rest are gimmicky crap.
And he couldn't even test it out lol
I had that one as a kid. It only had the gen 1 pokemon, but I remembered you could search by Dex number, name, type, and it could play the pokemon's cries. It was absolutely amazing and just as compact as it looked.
The one he tested last was also pretty good, had a lot of Pokemon overall, I think gen 1-3
I had the 1998 Tiger one as well and it definitely has a lot of features. I believe you could also password protect it.
@@tomthetank9044 Damn. We have the Pokedex 3D Pro at least but one designed with the Switch Lite in mind would be nice.
I got the 1997 Pokedex at a thrift store like ten years ago and its batteries that were inside it when I got it still work to this day...I played with it for an absolute shit ton of time and basically it lets you search for all gen 1 Pokemon by name, number, type, height, and other settings. It has pixel art animation for idol poses and attacking poses for all 150, info on all of them, and your standard Pokedex entries. It also has a calculator, built in clock, and a password system to where you can document your own pokemon that you've caught in the actual Pokemon games. It's a generally really well made product especially for its time and I still enjoyed it in the 2010s. Honestly it's probably one of the best from all of these, if not the best. And yes, it has Pikachu. I was looking forward to you reviewing it but yeah a problem with it is that is has one of those batteries. I'm glad mine somehow haven't died since I got the Pokedex years ago...
I got the original pokedex when it first came out and I have never replaced the batteries. Just checked it, it still works.
The OG one is the best one there. Solid build quality too. The newer ones look like you could get it from a mid 2000s happy meal.
For actual clarification the Normal type is a type given to pokemon that most closely resemble actual real life 'normal' animals, such as Ratata being just a real life rat aside from being purple, or pidgy just being a bird
This HEVALY implies the existence of REAL LIFE ANIMALS in the Pokémon world.
Soo, what’s a snorlax?
@@Bardock025 Basically a hibernating bear
@@no-man_baugh the pokedex itself mentions normal animal names quite regularly
Ah yes, how could I forget about the reallife Ditto, Porygon, Chansey, Whismur, Castform, Regigigas, Audino, etc...
Genuinely love that you're uploading more frequent, your videos are a good laugh
The current Pokedex in the series is on one's mobile phone that is also a literal Pokemon (Rotom), and Bulbapedia is a Pokemon resource that has an Android and iOS app, and trust me that it has information on everything Pokemon that Wikipedia doesn't. Also, every Pokedex has Pikachu but it isn't the same dex number in every gen.
There are also a lot of offline Pokedex apps for when you need Pokemon info but can't get good signal
@@PyroGothNerd yeah, Bulbapedia is less than 4GB for offline use.
I remember getting my gen 4 Pokédex for my 8th birthday, and how insanely futuristic it seemed to my stupid kid brain. Found it 2 years ago and was very disappointed reusing it
i love how the valve tf2 intro music plays every time we see the "piss bottle".
It caught me off guard everytime
Not to be pedantic here but it's not specifically the TF2 intro sound, this is just the old Valve intro sound. :) It was in the first HL too for example
@@Yuzuki1337 ye
he is the sniper
@@Yuzuki1337 i know it also plays in dota 2, but more people are familiar with it in tf2 along side the valve man.
An absolute nostalgia ballon splooshed on me when I heard that “ Turtwig, is a GRASS - type Pokemon”. Wow.
Anyways, mine had a few more functions then just find a Pokémon and Pokémon Search. There was also at least Pokémon trivia, Pokémon match, and options on mine, but I think there was also one more.
yeah i had one and i loved that thing to death. it definitely had games on it! i think you had to unlock them or something though so his didn't have them?
There was one game where you had to work your way through a maze where you encounter pokemon with random matchups and pick the winner based off type advantage, and yes, with those rules, that means Magikarp beats things like Infernape and Hippowdon.
I had the Hoenn and Sinnoh Dexs and I'd completely forgotten that I did until you turned them on and I heard the beeps and boops. Big nostalgia trip, thanks.
The piss jar of legend. We better see that more than we've seen Sliver recently
Lol
Peter: I've never seen a normal type pokemon
Eevee in the background
I was gonna ask why he stopped at the kalos dex but then I remember they stopped making them available outside of japan after that
i had the s-tier pokedex as a kid, hearing the song it plays just brought back so many memories of just sifting through it looking at all the pixel art lmao
I got excited when I saw that 2007 pokedex at the end, it was the one I had as a little kid, and I still have it today. I got that thing long before I had a DS, so I have a lot of memories just messing around with it. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, I thought this video was great.
Have you triggered the Anorith glitch on it yet. All you have to do is chuck the fucker onto the floor as hard as you can until it triggers (it's built like a nuclear bunker, so there won't be any plastic chipping off or anything).
@@MDLuffy1234YT I'm gonna pass on that one chief
@@foomples don't pass on it, it's funny af. Me and my big brother did it all the time.
bro the unova pokédex was a CORE PART of my childhood, and I just found it again in the depths of my closet. when you turned it on and the music played, it brought me all the way back 😭 great memories, a simpler time fr
You're too late...
Hey patter u should do a what’s up with vid as a throwback
This was agonising. Well done.
I had the one with the satisfying song by JakksPacific (S tier one). When I saw it in the thumbnail, it was actually what led me to watch your video in the first place. Didn’t realize how many different ones they had created! Great video :)
"there is no such thing as a normal type pokemon your making sutff up" that got me to burst in laugh ngl
We all know the best pokédex was the e-reader for the game boy advance
The nostalgia, woah.
Still have that 1998 Pokédex, never changed the battery, thing just WORKS.
Funny thing about that intro is that Yoshi WAS actually a pokémon for a day. But probably everyone else knows that
The 1998 Tiger Electronics one is pretty good, iirc. I had a friend who owned it and I was psyched to learn it existed
In other news, there's a really bad version of I think the Unova Pokédex that I got for Christmas when that was new, and literally all it did was you'd slide the back open, insert a card, close the back, and that was it. I got bored of it after a day
I still remember using the Sinnoh Dex as a kid, playing it's minigames and liking to see the pixel art of the Pokemon art.
I had one of the deluxe pokedex's you had at the end and seeing it made me get nostalgic for it.
I still have the one that came out in 1998. I remember getting it and having it with me when I was at a mental hospital at the time.
The 2007 Pokedex has a mini game. Aka the maze , there's a mini game to it where team rocket attacks you. I used to own that, and would play the maze mode a lot.
His vids are a godsend to everyone and everything on the earth
I don’t Keep my eye on this man for 0.02 seconds and I have 5 centuries of new content to lay my circle shaped seeing organs on!
It my country Pokémon wasn't called Pokémon.
It was called evil or sometimes people called it satanic.
So basically, every country in the late 90’s-early 2000’s? 😂
I probably sound like the biggest nerd but over the years I've obtained all of the pokedexes in the thumbnail I used to be obsessed with them 😄
I'm practically a two year old, so I will be at school. Grown ups have the advantage on that subject.
Ah yes, *yoshi* as a pokemon
This is gonna be good... They always are!
Yes
that's how it is with patter, you always get good content.
love how it plays the valve intro whenever you see the pee jar
So the rumors were true, Yoshi is a Pokémon!
I thought the drink on the side was a candle 😂
"Well I didn't see this movie, so how good could it possibly be if it didn't entice me to see it?"

I had a pokedex as a little kid, the 2003 Advance Pokedex as I recall. Actually a fun one. Had a mini game where you went and caught pokemon on it.
I’m split between smiling at his childlike wonder and being frustrated at him not knowing Pokémon, as someone who knows more about Pokémon than a healthy and sane person should.
Yay i always wanted a pokedex
I not know how to spek UwU
beautiful, thank you for this in-depth review patter, i’ll be taking your opinions to heart and making sure to purchase the correct software

Pokédex: No Chikorita
Jacks pacific: we got you Peter we will include your wife *Chikorita*
Peter: All the other Pokédex you go In D and you Jacks Pacific Pokédex go in S
I love the hoenn Pokédex with all my heart. This is an accurate tier list.
Have you triggered the Anorith glitch on it yet. All you have to do is chuck the fucker onto the floor as hard as you can until it triggers (it's built like a nuclear bunker, so there won't be any plastic chipping off or anything).
I lost mine in a move cross country so unfortunately no. What does the anorith glitch do?
So Patter has finally done a tier list, the world is right again. Still where’s the Sonic tier lost
The one from 98 is one I had as a kid.
Also there’s one missing. It’s the Hoen Dex from Pokémon Advance…don’t remember which year it was I got that one. But it has a good UI and fun minigames. Plus the way the buttons and scrolling work is still the most unique Pokédex toy imo.
you hoped people got mad? you succeeded. good job. 10/10 video, would probably watch again
"Normal" type just means neutral aka it's what you would expect a regular creature to have defense against because it's normal. I know it's a joke but still i felt like explaining because why not
i love how peter used a ph scale for the chart
It's still not enough to be the best Pokemon-Trainer!
I swear I had one of these that had an overhead styled adventure like the gameboy games I have never been able to track it down
Funnily enough, as much as I love shinnoh, unova and kalos have my favorite pokedex designs, as they just look intuitive to carry around, without just being another phone case or a PC, although I'll admit that one definitely would display the most information and thus be the best for a nerd like me.
Peter: plays DSi slideshow music
Me: I see you're a man of culture as well.
Another great video as always, Platter. It had all the funnies.
Pokedex: Audino is a normal type.
Fairy type: Am I a joke to you?
Love how someone turned the sun oh Pokédex in to a working Nintendo DS
The 2007 Pokédex was my childhood Pokédex so it’s good to know it’s still undefeated
Idk if there’s any more us models missing but I hate that the one I had was missing here. It was definitely a us model and had a click wheel style control that was a white and blue pokeball. (Edit: it’s a Hoenn model) I wish I could find it, lots of nostalgia for that model. Still an awesome video! Maybe in the future do another one reviewing more of them? Including the foreign market ones.
My goodness that talking Pokédex gave me nightmares as a kid. Just the constant “Will you be a Pokémon Master?” in my head while the dang dex starred from my dresser…
The Black and White one was awesome though, I got so much mileage out of that thing when I was younger too.
Fun fact : the Yoshi shown in the beginning of the video isn’t just a random plushie for it was actually an April fools joke in one Nintendo magazine , it said the dragonite could evolve into yoshi
You forgot the Hoenn dex! I just bought and fixed a broken one for my Pokemon crazed nephew. It's surprisingly good and fully featured solid A tier, maybe even S. Full regional Pokedex with stats, pictures and descriptions, a quiz mode, and a capture mode where you "walk" around maps for random encounters then capture them via a who's-that-pokemon style game. Only major downside is that it uses the spinning Pokeball wheel to navigate menus, which is a huge pain in the ass and the contacts seem to wear out and become imprecise.
This was awesome!!!! If you can find the battery for that one. I wish you would test it because it looked really cool!!!
Just want you to know that the sad music from the camera app in the dsi at the beginning is appreciated and noticed.
Idk how I got to the point that I'm watching a grown man reviewing old Pokémon Toy's... but I'm certainly enjoying it
I had the first Pokedex he reviewed since I was little and it has a maze mode and mini games, such as card memory, hide and seek, who would win.
Patter is essentially a child but in the body of a slightly larger child
And thus we still have not solved the mystery of what Peanut Cannater was drinking. :(
I like the yoshi as a reference to the famous April fool's joke where you can get Yoshi in red and blue
2:40 Are people just gunna ignore the Pokedex classifies Turtwig as a ground type?
Youve been creating more and im really happy about it
The ash's talking Pokedex works with Pokemon figures that went with a battle set you plug the figure on to that little circle thing on the top. The Pokemon worked on a battle stadium and you could battle the Pokemon.
It was the Pokemon think chip battle stadium
When the garbo kid said "are your pokeballs just grenades from the Civil War"
I said "AS A MATTER OF FACT" out loud
2 seconds later you did the thing
These pokedex actually are sometimes made according to one region, this might be the reason for no pikachu.
Dsi music “memories” was so nostalgic in the first part
The one with the spinning lights, you just gotta keep spinning it to make it say something else
actually, i had a friend when i was about 9/10 who had that 1998 kanto pokedex from tiger and it was actually really awesome, personally the A tier is deserved regardless of using it or not
i used to love that last pokedex, i would carry it around everywhere
Have you triggered the Anorith glitch on it yet. All you have to do is chuck the fucker onto the floor as hard as you can until it triggers (it's built like a nuclear bunker, so there won't be any plastic chipping off or anything).
Normal type pokemon are pretty much just pokemon that don’t have an element power, so for example Eevee is a normal type but when given specific evaluation items becomes some form of elemental type
1:33 The Valve sound played, confirming Peter can not count to 3. /j
I didn’t see the GS Dex. It came out after the first one, it was really good and had a few Pokémon voices from the Anime.
I remember the sinnoh pokedex. I still have it, I think I don’t know I still do.
i have that first still and i was obsessed with it as a kid
For some reason I'm enjoying a grown man testing toys
I had the A tier (then into d tier) pokedex as a kid it was the coolest thing when i was younger. I taped over the speaker after i got it cause it was hella loud.
0:01 didn’t know rouxls was into Pokémon
Great video as always.
Thanks u rlly bring happiness and funny ness to me ur my fav RUclipser
i had the b/w one when i was little. now i want to collect as many of these as i can
11:11 thats the one i had personaly when i was younger and i rember it being such good quality that when i accidentialy left it out during a rain storm it worked perfectly fine when we brought it back in and both my parents were suprised that it worked because it was a really bad storm and i still have that pokedex today.
Have you triggered the Anorith glitch on it yet. All you have to do is chuck the fucker onto the floor as hard as you can until it triggers.
I had it too, I watched through this whole video specifically to hear it’s start up song again lmao
I’m very surprised you didn’t go after your car keys momentarily for the battery. That’s where I thought we were going
