  • We've waited long enough - it's finally possible to make a real working Pokedex, so let's do it. Using computer vision, AI voice cloning, and a little 3D printing magic we can make the iconic device come to life and fulfill your Pokemon desires.

For anyone interested in creating your own Pokedex, here's some useful links (some are affiliate links which help support the channel)...
    3D Models on Tinkercad - www.tinkercad.com/things/9yxuwHykYHM-pokedex
Seeed Studio XIAO Sense (Camera / Microcontroller) - amzn.to/3wkJFim
    Fialect 8ohm Speakers - amzn.to/3SGis0Y
    MAX98357 (Audio Amp / i2s Board) - amzn.to/3OM5i1l
    Grayscale 1.5" OLED - www.adafruit.com/product/4741
    2.5m Screw Kit - amzn.to/48mmDoD
If you're interested in playing with this idea without doing a custom build, check out Adafruit's MEMENTO - www.adafruit.com/product/5420 It is the same microcontroller as this project, but built with a screen and camera in a nice shell. It's everything you need to recreate this project and would also be easier to code as it's designed to work with Python, not C. The only downside is that it's just not red.
For the code, as mentioned in the video it is not in a good enough state to release, but with the instructions I outlined, I believe you could recreate it with a bit of research!
    Have fun!

This is so cool! I actually think that the problem with the Fuecoco plush was ChatGPT, not your pokedex. I'm pretty sure ChatGPT's date cutoff is before the release of Scarlet and Violet, so it has no idea what any of the newer pokemon are. On the plus side, this means that your Pokedex works really well, it's just limited by the quality of ChatGPT's database. It should be able to accurately recognise anything up to Gen 7 and maybe some of the more popular Gen 8 Pokemon, but definitely not Gen 9.

    • @Hexagonal_Goblin

@@abetoday That isn't even what the Pokédex even sounded like in the anime. Instead it sounded more like that one robot from M.A.S.K.

  • @sichaelmott

Very cool! I love your dedication. I'd like to see the same thing, but for real animals in real life!
The advantages of playing pokedex with real animals is that they are more plentyful than Pokemon, and more varied, so you can play longer! In Pokemon there are 1025 species, which is A LOT. But on earth there is 8.7 million! Also they are more real, compared to Pokemon. That means you can see them with your eyes, as well as through the camera, and sometimes touch them.
Another aspect is that the looking for them would be more of an adventure. You would need to know a bunch of stuff about eagles to be able to find one. Or you might need to explore a creepy basement to find the last spider on your list. The difficulty of finding rare poke.. animals is a bit higher, but I'm sure the effort will be a lot of fun 🌟

Gotta be honest, The fact that this is even possible to be real, let alone actually *is* real, is a testament to just how far technology has come since the start of pokemon
