2012 - present 3.6L Pentastar Engine
THIS IS BANK 1 (passenger side) of the engine. I mistakenly refer to this as BANK B or BANK 2 in the video.
To the guys leaving nasty comments.... I make no secret in any of my videos that I'm NOT a certified mechanic. I'm a guy in my driveway attempting to do my own repairs to save money, and I make videos to show other people exactly what they will encounter if they attempt these repairs themselves. What you see is what you get. If you don't like my videos, then don't watch. If I say or do something "wrong", then CORRECT me so that I and others learn from you, but there's no reason to be a dick about it.

So you are demonstrating how to replace the camshaft position sensor on the back part of the engine on bank 1 (the passenger side) ?
I have replaced both of my camshaft position sensors on the back side of bank (1) and bank (2) with mopar sensors
I’m now getting po365 which is

Someone told me camshaft position sensor row 2 sensor 1 is one of the two sensors on the front drivers side of the engine . Do you know if this is true ?

PLEASE NOTE that I am referring to the wrong bank in my narration!! I was originally told (by a Jeep dealer mechanic of all people) that the Passenger side was bank 2.. it is Bank 1. I have it right in the title but wrong in my narration.

Thank you for this video. I was on vacation when I threw a code. I wanted to add to all that the tool kit Jeep provides for door and top removal works great to remove the passenger side CPS. Now, let’s hope that light stays away!

I’ve got a 2012 Jku. Code P0365 says that’s cam position sensor B Bank 1. Am I understanding that is the drivers side sensor?

Bank 1 is the passenger side. Bank 2 is the driver's side.
That is what I thought, this guy is wrong in his video, but actually replaces the passenger side.... lol, he explains it well, give him credit for that. Thanks for confirming.

Is it one of the two cam shaft position sensors on the front of bank 2 (drivers side)?
Your description says bank 1, you say you're doing bank 2. Which is it?
Good video, But please stop laying a metal rod (extension) on top of you battery!! If it rolls around and touches the other post, frame,ect it will blow up in your face. Just my advice.

@@BakedDaily When I was a jr tech, I was working on a manual fuel pump. The tool was gas soaked. I laid it on the battery and the tool caught on fire. Yikes.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually make my videos as my vehicles need repairs, so until that bank reports errors, I won't be making a video for that side yet.

I thought I needed an expensive scan tool to learn the part to the engine or calibrate it or something. Is it just plug and play like that?
If your problem is the senor, you can just swap it out. If you don't have a code reader to clear your codes, don't sweat it. After X amount of starting the engine with no new error conditions, the PCM will reset and clear the Check Engine Light (CEL) automatically.
@@DeathScouter I just got my Jeep back from the mechanic a few days ago. It needed a whole new camshaft.
Why not replace the seal too??
Bank 1 is on the passenger side, correct bank 2 drivers side
Did you have to re learn the unit ? How if so? I hear taking battery cable off over night ?

Jeep pissed me off w/these sensors. It's supposed to be an off road vehicle. You will get this Defect w/all 4x4 off road vehicles. Shame on Jeep
Please elaborate -- im curious why you think this would happen on all 4x4 vehicles and why Jeep shoulda known better.
Jeep knew better prior to 2007 by not putting these annoying sensors that no one wants that cause nothing but unnecessary problems and expenses

To the best of my knowledge, both sides use the same sensor. Confirming by going to a parts website and looking up the sensor, they websites make no distinction between sides, so yes... same part for each side.
Any torque spec on that sensor? Maybe 106in-lbs like the valve cover?
Sorry. That's a great question but I don't know the actual specs. I sensed how hard it was to unscrew and did my best to match it going back in. Unlike brakes or other engine/drive train parts, I don't know where those specs would be listed. @@DeathScouter Thanks for the info, I ended up buying the Haynes Manuel pretty good deal I can say but it didn't have it in there... I can tell you it is NOT 106in-lbs, I did the "feel" tightness and it felt like it was going to break.. so I just snugged it in as well.

Have you seen the video of the 30 year mechanic replacing the front sensors who’s calling them “cam phase actuators”?

He says in his video that the diagnostic scanners call the front sensors cam shaft position sensors but that they are really called “cam phase actuators”. Note that someone comments in his video saying they are not called cam phase actuators and he responds defending calling them cam phase actuators
and you are calling them “4 vvt sensors”. Note that in his video he says replacing the front sensors that he’s calling cam phase actuators did not fix his problem and he replaced the cam phasers next, which he says in the comments fixed his problem although he ended up selling his Jeep.
So in my 2014 jk with 180 k miles I replaced both of the camshaft position sensors in the back with mopar sensors, replaced the wire harnesses in the back that connect to these back sensors and left the negative battery terminal disconnected overnight and started the Jeep and let it idle for 15 min and my check engine light, ABS light and limp mode remained on. I also had my four oil gallery bolts below the cam phasers on each side checked, replaced with four new oil gallery bolts, tightened and sealed. This also did not fix the problem.
I’m now getting PO365, which is bank 2 sensor 1 and of course it comes with a check engine light, ABS light and limp mode.
The most recent mechanic said that bank 2 sensor 1 is the right front sensor on the drivers side and called it a cam shaft position sensor, which apparently is also called a “cam phase actuator” or also a “4 vvt sensor”
This may sound like analysis paralysis but my objective is to order the correct sensor so that the mechanic can replace it to see if it corrects the problem.

I’m pretty sure this is what I need to buy but how do I know which one to buy for the drivers side right side? On the drivers side front there are two and the mechanic told me that bank 2 sensor 1 is the one further to the right . Further to the right is a little confusing because in each side on the front they are really close to each other but still it’s the one further to the right side if this makes any sense…
I only get this code that it is bad when I tow my camper, it is frustrating.

@@AxialFlux my last trip towing, it did it the all the way there. Coming home, after the first time it did it i turned the traction control off and it didn't do it the rest of the trip. I also read some ppl had good luck by adding 1 gu Lucas Oil additive. Next time I will do both and hope for the best.
OK, so it's not your sensor that's the problem. Go ahead and change it just to remove it from the equation (cheaply), but it's more likely that your cam shaft (or phasers) are flexing when you put the engine under great strain. Any engine tapping yet? You may need cam shaft and lifters replaced.... not uncommon for the 3.6L.
@@DeathScouter Jeep just released a TSB on it. They say loose oil galley bolts below the cam phasers.
I had this exact issue. Did a tune up new coils and spark plugs(NGK on both) not had issue since. Over 15k miles later. So far so good
Camshaft in Jeep Wrangler jk 2015 is located in front of the engine not in rear
Camshaft runs along both sides. The Cam Positioning sensor is exactly where I showed it... at the back of the engine.
Dont act more profesional that you really you are dont things that the shop is Bad deal tell me how you will do the Relearn Prosedure do you have a profesional grade Scan Tool?

Yes... i have a scan tool to clear the codes, which I can also do through my after-market radio that integrates with the PCM and lets me see/clear codes.
