After 8 months I finally finished this episode. I am back and ready to post more but I had to get past this one that kind of bummed me out. I don't use game action video other than for context of the photography. I use wide angle from a GoPro type perspective but I would never want to jeopardize my credential or I would never have content to make a behind the scenes video anyway. The camera equipment I have could do some really nice video but that isn't what this channel is about. The demonetization of my channel didn't bother me, it just added on top.
I have to figure out a way to show what it's like on the floor or field so you get the feeling of what it's like. Any suggestions are welcome. I can shorten the videos also by not doing as much of the actual action which I have been trying to do anyway. Analytics show most people stop watching after 4 minutes. Thanks everyone for your support and comments. You're the best!
Rob Gray Photography I enjoy watching your videos. Keep going at it.
That's pretty nuts. I know a number of websites that capture D1 NCAA basketball game footage and publish highlight videos after each and every game.
so glad you’re back. I love these videos
Absolutely LOVED the drone shot! Keep on, mate!
Keep pushing out content Rob! Love your energy and your work. I wouldnt mind seeing a video on what kind of photos you look for when photographing a game!
Rob, you're a great character and I enjoy your energy and excitement. I enjoy the whole behind the scenes stuff, and hearing the odd tip is great. Really appreciate you doing these.
Good to see you back Rob. Hope you’ll still keep making great content.
This is a problem for me too on my channel in the UK. I've found that there's still plenty you can do without jeopardizing the regulations of tv coverage and no filimg etc.
Hey Rob love your content. I didn't actually get in trouble or warned by anyone, it was just one of my colleagues that brought it up and got me thinking. For MLS soccer here in the US we have some different rules that are a lot less strict than what you are seeing there in the UK. I also have issues doing a video for some events because I don't own the copyright to the pictures.
You have great content too, keep doing what you're doing there. Just adapt where you need to so you don't annoy anyone.
Great to see a post
Thanks, I was pumped at the beginning and then the wind was taken out of my sails so it took a bit to finish. Like 8 months!
Great to see you posting again Rob. Yeah, I was approached by an official here in San Antonio for a college football game I was covering, concerning my GoPro. Was mounted on top of my camera body on the monopod. I told them that I took snippets and they explained that I can't take the full game on video (NCAA Division I). I didn't want to jeopardize my creds either so just put it away. I wanted to get the experience as well.
Austrain basketball legend Jakob Pöltl at the end there
What exactly constitutes "game footage"? So my camera shoots at a certain higher frame rate, and I can use individual images or multiple images displayed in rapid succession.
Please, can you tell us bout your setting? How u meter light, and so on
great video
please continue doing videos without delay
Just curious what your camera settings where shooting with the 70-200. Thanks.
can you use 85mm f1.8 canon?
I subscribed 1 second after that monster dunk intro!
what are you settings?
Finally
That intro though... ;) :D
Loving the videos, Rob. The quality speaks for itself.
Do you have any videos talking about how you got into sports photography?
Waiting more videos! :P
Welcome back Rob
Thanks Harold. I have enough B roll from the basketball season to do a couple more episodes but I'm back to shooting soccer.
You grew a moustache during that game.. they must have went into overtime..
Hey Rob, I'm 19 years old and my dream is to be a photographer like you. I currently go to a technical school for videography and photography. I'm wondering a few things, how can I do photography for money to buy some more equipment. I currently use a Canon rebel t5i and a 70-200 F/4. And how can I do most of the stuff your doing? You are one of my idols when it comes to photography and I hope one day I can be in your shoes! Much help would be appreciated! Thank you!
Yessss finally another upload!!! 😂👍
I hope it wasn't downer at the end. I was never certain how to finish it. I shot about 20 basketball games and bunch of soccer games since I started this episode but didn't make a video. I have Episode 18 in the works already though.
Rob Gray Photography Personally, I was fine with the ending :) Glad to hear another episode is coming up. I have a suggestion though if you're up for it... I know you haven't really done something like this but I think it would be nice to hear a bit of a backstory from you. I always like hearing how photographers get started with their careers. 🤷
This is selfish but I like more of the technical stuff like setting your white balance, sending the photos to your clients. I feel like that’s the stuff I struggle with even though I only do this as a hobby.
Jeff, I agree. I also like the technical things like how other people shoot and their settings. I would say the identity of this channel is more as a sports photographer I get a lot of people asking if they can get a credential to go on the field with me and just hold my bag so they can see what it's like. The focus originally was to take the viewer along and see what it was like but that doesn't mean I can't evolve the channel.
Rob Gray Photography I totally understand and thanks for the reply. Love the channel! Glad to you see you’re back.
You’ve got great content, favorite photographer/vlogger out there!!
Did someone put their stuff on your travel seat? I would not like that.
