    I would love to see how you cut your Siding around all that detail at the top of the wondow. I have an older home with similar and looks like a daunting task. Thank you

    This is good, but I myself prefer setting new windows out at exterior surface, and have extensions inside if possible. Why spend two setups for exterior and interior? It does happen, but new build keep everything simple and faster.

    Hmmm. I'm going to have research Kleer adhesives and stainless steel brads. Thanks

    Question.. how do you j-channel around all that gingerbread? I have a similar, old world trim on my windows and was going to cut off all the gingerbread to facilitate Siding install. But I'm all ears cause would like to maintain it if possible
    Thx
    Jeff

    Thanks for the video. I am curious about the final exterior cladding over the rainscreen (which looks like 1x3 wood) and the interface to the window trim you created. What was the plan?
    In my case, I am planning to use James Hardie's lap siding, and I would like to use cellular PVC trim around the window.

    Where are the channels for the siding?

    Any ideas on how the siding is scribed around the trim, especially the head casing?

    I’m siding my new build with Chelsea Building Products - Everlast Siding. Because it is a floating material, all trim and penetrations are fixed to the Zip R3 prior to installing the J-Channel the siding will terminate. All trim is AZEK PVC. Any tips would be appreciated.

      How did your project workout? Did you add J-Channel around the window trim to hide the siding edges?

    Thoughts on hurricane shutter anchors in pvc trim?

    • @tditekinstructor
      @tditekinstructor Год назад +1

      You have to sink the anchors through the pvc trim and into the structural framing.

      At 5:09, it shows it is a Kleer product. Here is a link to their adhesive products. kleerlumber.com/product/adhesives/ Cheers.

      Any pvc glue will work. Use the clear if you can tho

      On "This Old House" they used regular PVC glue from the plumbing department. Why not? Makes sense to me.

      I second that question, I have a set of “dogs teeth” for flat stock but I’ve never seen those spring caliper clamp types before

    Not good for structural application?
    That’s strange because they’re used to build cabinet face frames which hold doors together as well as holding the entire cabinet carcasses together

    • @late0404
      @late0404 3 года назад +7

      Not structural in that application either

      Code in the Pacific Northwest. A set of furring strips and insect screens separating the sheathing from the siding.
