    Great Video Well Done! Have to ever in any application cut a groove out of the outer edge if the pvc trim to allow vinyl siding to dive into it in place of J Channel. Even in the example you have in this video, the trim is so clean if one was going to use vinyl lap siding they would surround that trim with J Channel and to me that would ruin what is otherwise a very tight and clean look.

    Will PVC work on a finished stucco wall? Every stucco wall trim I see put on is done while theres a groove or open space around the wall. My house had the windows replaced and finished a couple of years ago. We want to add the trim now but the only thing I see done to a wall like that is foam. Thanks

      I would sure think so, because the PVC cap by itself would be no different than just the trim by itself. Neither are tucked up under the siding above, to shed water properly.

    if i’m not replacing my existing window but putting on new wood smartsiding are we suppose to put house wrap over the insulation and around window then the waterproof tape then the trim , the way the guys are doing not it, it will have a lot of air pockets in it cause they have not taped my wrap but rather putting one half wrap over more wrap them up to my window then the tape around my windows is that the correct way

      @@JLCorpus1 Yes, GeoCell. They have a catalog of colors. My house is light sand yellow, with dark chocolate trim, all in EIFS. The 3/4" back-rod gap at doors & windows has "Almond" color GeoCell and looks perfect. It doesn't separate on the edges like dap caulking or Dow.

      This was 2 years ago but there is about a 1-1/4 inch flange on the window for installation, between the thickness of the flange and the calking the flange can stick out from the wall at least an 1/8 of an inch, if you don't cut this notch or "rabbit" the trim won't sit flat on the wall...

      @@chrisask2065 did you give an answer to this? I like the look of the traditional trim in the video. All the trim I've seen with an integrated j channel has utilized picture framing casing with miter cuts. Im concerned running j channel next to trim would take away from the appeal..

    • @chrisask2065
      @chrisask2065 4 года назад

      Nikolis Gualco : No I did not give an answer to your question. I’m actively thinking about the best way to do my windows with keeping them weather/water tight. I agree with you about J-channel taking away from the appearance, but I doubt you can just butt the siding right tight to the window casing, also, I don’t think that you can hand window framing/ casing on top of siding. I’m lost

    • @NikolisGualco
      @NikolisGualco 4 года назад +1

      @@chrisask2065 for what is worth, I ended up buying 3.5 in casing with an integrated j, miter cut the tops, attached using the joining methods described in video to a sill nose with the channel on the back. Just a small amount of routing along the sill edge to match the j depth and I'm done. Integrated j all the way around. And of course flash flash flash.. not sure if helpful or not.
