I'm a real fan of this straightforward style of video. No fancy-schmancy intro or outro graphics, music or marketing BS, just "Hi guys" and right into the good stuff. And then at the end "thanks for watching". Really, on RUclips, what more do you need? Keep 'em coming, please. Thx.
Just wanted to say, "Thanks!" My Sears/Craftsman mower had exactly the same break in the pedal control rod. Your video helped me make the repair and get the mower back to work. Kudos on an excellent video without all the fluff that so many youtubers seem to prefer.
I have a riding mower and have always been fearful of something breaking on it but knowing your videos are out there i can sleep easy. Your one hell of a mechanic!
Nice quick troubleshooting and fix! It did look like a factory defect and was surprised of that from the Husqvarna factory. Your one handed work while holding the camera amazes me through all your videos!
Had some work done in the garage and when I went to use the rider, it wouldn’t shift into gear. Watched your video and all it was was the release at the rear that they had engaged. Wasn’t aware of that feature. Saved a trip to the shop and saved me who knows how much. Thanks. If you ever get to Uniontown, I owe you a beer.
Good, simple fix. Thanks so much for making these videos. You have a gift for explaining the problem and the solution. I never miss one of your videos.
Great video. My 4500 craftsman is very much the same tractor. Last weekend the belt came off and took out the fan on top of the rear pulley. While replacing the belt I found the Front transaxle mounting bolts had fallen out allowing the transaxle to rotate. Installed new bolts the belt and pulley and back in action.
Hey Mustie. I haven't watched many videos lately, being down in Georgia with no internet, but someone gave me one of these mowers, and it stopped moving yesterday. I came online to find the reason and found this video and you. Always good to see you again. Great video. We'll headin' back home end of the month. Maybe we can catch up with you then. Take care.
Well it looks like somebody was hot-roding, or speed shifting, lol. Very well explained video, and excellent repair. I have the Husqvarna lgt 2554. Thanks
been watching all your videos and what I am confused about is how I have no problem working on cars but when it comes to mowers I'm lost? but I'm learning a lot thanks soo much!!
This Husqvarna Looks very very similar to our Craftsman 54 inch mower. down to the seat, steering wheel, choke, throttle, ignition switch, "24hp vtwin Briggs engine", pedal setup, hood, frame setup.
I love your vids ..I'm a small engine mechanic so most of this stuff I know....but I'm a part hoarder and love tinkering....I can watch this stuff all day....and do....also love your vw vids....learned so much about them which is great because I'm in love with beetles and WILL own one 1 day.... I hope to find one that's in good body shape but needs mechanical help...any advise on the best years to look for to get the most enjoyment...thinking a super bettle..thank you for all your vids and keep up the work
Thank you for your video, our craftsman which is basically a husqvarna, is riding super slow and the reverse is slowly getting slower and slower until it is almost non existent. Do you suggest replacing the belt first? It has a hydrostatic transmission. Thank you
My arien just happened EXCEPT the pedal was not loose infact just the opposite, would not move forward from set position to maybe 2" forward. Suggestions??
Is there anything under there (arm, spring, etc) that would cause the mower to slowly move (creep) when your foot is off the drive pedal? Heard a snap (noise), followed by this behavior. A pulley is obviously gently rubbing up against the drive belt (when it shouldn't), causing the mower to slowly creep in the last direction traveled.
I don’t have a shifter I have a automatic and my problem is the gas petal normally when my timing belt comes loose I got to take out the battery in the back press gas to loosen the wheel to put my timing belt on. But in this case it wasn’t my timing belt I press the gas and it didn’t loosen or even moved. I’m trying to figured out what piece I need to fix it. These video seems like something I need to look at again. I have the husk arena yth18542 model
So... I have watched nearly all of your vidieos love them great job! Have a few questions how doin send things to you and .. I need your jack stands any and all info would be greatly appreciated sir
Hey man is there anyway to check the fluid in that rear end my Husqvarna is just like that and I had the same problem but I check the linkage and it is tight and where it is supposed to be
Hey smarty pants, I've got an Old Murray 38 inch rider that in low gears (1-2-3) it moves like a roller coaster ( pulls and glides repeat). If I adjust the drive belt tighter, it wont shift unless motor is off, and very loose and it Still wont shift. Is my replaced drive belt too tight? (90 was original size so i bought the same). Any comments?
So I have yta18542 and I’m having to problem of it going in reverse but not drive, is that the transmission going out because none of the belts are loose or missing? Very informative video thank you
I enjoy all your video's but now I need some help - Bought and older Toro 1338 HXL lawn tractor (inexpensive), It needs a starter so we pushed it out of the shed and onto the trailer, the previous owner locked the rear axle from the lever under the trailer hitch.. Now when I pull it out to release it so the it will be like in neutral it stays locked in.. Help!!!!!!!
Hey Mustie i have a craftsman rider like the one at the start of this vid mine makes a little noise when i first start to mow with it like it's low on fluid do u know how to top off the fluid or drain it and put new oil in it could u do a vid on it?
Don't believe in seat belts, huh? I'm surprised. Have you ever seen what a head looks like through a windshield? Your idiot light in the dash ratted you out when you went for the free tractor ...LOL! Love your videos by the way. Hope to see more of the double cab soon.
Hey mustie1 could you please give us a warning when you're going to spin us around like that I like that threw up in my bathroom. Remind me when I was a kid it tilta world... LOL hope you're doing well buddy I'm catching up to your current videos.
I was mowing with my 6 yr old huskavarna, and I just slowly came to a stop. No power shortage, blades still working fine, still had tension on the forward and reverse but it would not move. The wheel was crooked and finally discovered it was the axel. This may sound dumb to some people but is there a way to repair a broken axel?
It snapped clean off between the transmission and wheel hub. But I'm not even sure all my problems were just with the axel. My husband pushed it home almost 2.5 acres and it wheeled fine in neutral. So I didn't know of the transmission was bad and the axel was a secondary problem? We discovered the axel problem after we had it lifted, with the belt off, and the deck off. That's when we discovered it.
Buy one and send it to Mustie.(: There are a lot of contributors to his arsenal of tools. Is this the type of endoscope that you are thinking of? www.gearbest.com/microscopes-endoscope/pp_307917.html?currency=AUD&vip=985807&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8oWT3I2T1QIVVBuPCh1GAQJCEAQYAyABEgL13vD_BwE
Does anyone have any idea what would make a riding mower (husqvarna) immediately cut off if I fully depress gas. I been using it for 2 years with this problem. It runs perfect, no problems other than I just have to go a little slower. I can't figure it out. If I press gas all the way down it cuts off, If I let off gas right fast before it cuts off, it will continue running. Comments appreciated.
****HOPE YOU READ THIS !!!**** And Please give me an answer to my Poser. Hey Master Mustie1, I AM one of your subscribed partners in grease. I have had a LOT of free time off lately with having 4-back surgeries these past five years now with EACH one taking anywhere from 10-months to a tad over a year EACH to get over, also been on SSDI since 2007, I AM a FULL blown Welder/PipeFitter, Iron worker and a Millwright and at times a professional paper picker upper, whatever the job required. Anyway, HERE`S my question --- In getting BACK into bathing in grease and gasoline again on a daily basis (as I feel good enough to stand for very long anyway) I (in the past three to four weeks made a long desired purchase of a 22L Ultrasonic Cleaner, and through ALL my searching through the Internet (NOT just You-Tube) CANNOT for the life of me can I find just ONE recipe of Carburetor cleaning solution that ACTUALLY works that will NOT harm the plastics and will ALSO bring the luster/bling BACK to the body. I see in YOUR video`s that YOURS seem to come out of YOUR solution looking pretty good, *** WHAT is YOUR recipe (cleaning solution mix) that YOU use in yours?, PLUS, How long do you (approximately) set your timer for and at what temp.? Keep up the great work you are doing and teaching with your video`s, you`ve ALREADY proven you do VERY well at that and need to keep on keeping on as LONG as you can with your passion. I, myself?, was FORCED to quit early because of my health, I JUST turned 65 but feel 80 in body, the mind and Spirit are hung at 30, so I keep trying to stay somewhat busy. Thanks for checking out my comment and REALLY hope to get an answer.
Liam, Yes, I have advice. Become a software engineer or electrical engineer and work on lawn mowers when you retire. The logical mind you development in an engineering environment will make anything else very easy to work on. Also, you will then have all MONEY for all the tools and a nice shop. Or just let me know what problem you have with a Briggs and Stratton or other engines.
My friend has a Husqvarna that won't go into reverse. I mean you can't push the reverse pedal down. It's like it's locked out. I messed with it a while and got it into reverse, then found out it wouldn't go forward. Messed with it some more and got forward back but locked out reverse again. WTH???
Tlc Landscaping Or the old Montgomery Wards that weigh as much as a small car. Those are a tank! Had a snowblower attachment on one and it'd shoot snow over the roof.
markfothebeast Yeah I have a few the 74 4041 power max weigh 1400 plus attachment, 3 speed rear end, hydro trans, cutting edge for 74 lawn tractors. rear pto s 2000 rpm only drew back to those machines, some john deer also in those yrs
Tlc Landscaping While I'm here, maybe you could help me. I changed hydro fluid on my 3165 Cub Cadet Rider. I have no movement, power steering, or power deck. Tried purging air by pulling the bypass lever and pressing forward and reverse pedals. Still got no movement.
markfothebeast I know on mine you have to fill it running, and there is a little bypass valve on the axle to let air out. do you have your neutral lever pulled. ?

Nice to see that it wasn't one of those repairs that you can never get too. Great fix..
Simple repair, very valuable video. Love...keep 'em coming ...thank-you for time and efforts!
Mine did the same dang thing, I did the same fix you did, I welded it back to gather a cleaned it up, install it and works fine. Thanks for the help.
Well it looks like somebody was hot-roding, or speed shifting, lol. Very well explained video, and excellent repair. I have the Husqvarna lgt 2554. Thanks
Haha. Sounded like “through the pee pole”. Keep up the great work, Mustie1. I love your videos, even the ones that are years old. 👍🏻
Didn't take long for that little jack to get used....
Once again, well done. Always informative
Chris

Man I used to have that same mower. I loved that thing
Boy that was an easy fix! Nice mower and worth a few bucks!
that is going to be the cleanest machine you have worked on
I was able to free up a seized snow blower from watching the very instructive videos you make. Thanks
been watching all your videos and what I am confused about is how I have no problem working on cars but when it comes to mowers I'm lost? but I'm learning a lot thanks soo much!!
Nice fix Mustie!
Keep 'em comin' D . . . . thanks for sharing!! ;) Rog
Nice job, nice tutorial.
Thanks great video and this was my problem as well only the push not holding the linkage on fell off.
This Husqvarna Looks very very similar to our Craftsman 54 inch mower. down to the seat, steering wheel, choke, throttle, ignition switch, "24hp vtwin Briggs engine", pedal setup, hood, frame setup.
Mustie I have watched too many of your videos...I'm starting to think I can do it too. LOL
Keep them coming.
you can
I've watched them so long, I bought a brand new tractor that has a blown motor, going to do a engine swap on it.
Many thanks . Helped a lot.
I love your vids ..I'm a small engine mechanic so most of this stuff I know....but I'm a part hoarder and love tinkering....I can watch this stuff all day....and do....also love your vw vids....learned so much about them which is great because I'm in love with beetles and WILL own one 1 day.... Thank you for your video, our craftsman which is basically a husqvarna, is riding super slow and the reverse is slowly getting slower and slower until it is almost non existent. Do you suggest replacing the belt first? It has a hydrostatic transmission. Thank you
You could almost call that an easy repair, nice work
My arien just happened EXCEPT the pedal was not loose infact just the opposite, would not move forward from set position to maybe 2" forward.
Suggestions??
Nice fix.

What is the bracket that on the side of frame and attaches to the front of transaxle
If it was the hydrostatic drive would the tractor be worth replacing it? How much work would that be?

Wish they were all this simple, huh? It's nice to have a relatively easy one every once in a while.
once in a while ya just get lucky
So... I have watched nearly all of your vidieos love them great job! Have a few questions how doin send things to you and .. I need your jack stands any and all info would be greatly appreciated sir

Great vid
Hey man is there anyway to check the fluid in that rear end my Husqvarna is just like that and I had the same problem but I check the linkage and it is tight and where it is supposed to be
Is that a baby stroller? The blue wagon looking thing. Looks like an antique, might be worth some cash!

nice fix... I see your using the new jack....😉
l like the size of it easy to move around
So I have yta18542 and I’m having to problem of it going in reverse but not drive, is that the transmission going out because none of the belts are loose or missing? Very informative video thank you
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I have one just like that, the forward and reverse sticks
Easy peazy (well almost)!
Thank you 😊

Where can i get a lift like yours?
Looked like a Cobra but then after you used the flap disc, it turned into an armadillo.
wow that was an easy fix if only they were all like that lol
mark
What kind of lift is that?
How many hrs can you get out of one of these 24 hp?
those are the kind of fixes I wish for but almost never happen👍
I had the same problem just with the brake.
Cool
Hey Mustie i have a craftsman rider like the one at the start of this vid mine makes a little noise when i first start to mow with it like it's low on fluid do u know how to top off the fluid or drain it and put new oil in it could u do a vid on it?

How much did you pay for it
Strong like bull

Yes it did look like a snake head lol :-D
I dont think that weld will fail, plenty of mass where the stress is :-D
Whats cost of that repair please?
Nothing a booger weld can't fix!
This may be a manufacturing defect, Exact same thing happened to the same tractor that I use at work,

Easy one ain't it.
Do you know a lot about Husqvarna lawn mowers. I'd like to ask you some questions about mine. Anyway we could talk on the phone?
Didn't show much of how you removed parts to get at problem
My mower will reverse but not go forward
shiftless
The brand is Husq-varna, NOT Husq-a-varna. There was is NO extra "a" in the middle of the name. Husqvarna. Three syllables, not four.
Thanks tips...
If you were Swedish. You’d pronounce, ”hus-kvarna”.
