That's why I love the front, the engine noise but on a MAX or NEO, I'll listen to the flap noise since the sound of those engines are a little unbearable to listen to after a while
Seeing this video brings back fond (but not so distant) memories of flying home to Atlanta on from Holiday Bloc Leave from Army basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, being that I flew on Southwest out of this terminal.
Aww man, I REALLY wish I would have knew about you being here sooner, because there are a BUNCH of interesting stuff here I knew you would have loved to see.
It's nice to see most of T2 come back to life after Trans World Airlines went out of business. Southwest is continuing to grow as they bring in more revenue and expand to different parts of the Western Hemisphere. I used to think that St Louis Lambert International Airport would never return to it's former glory, but Southwest has taken over T2, and soon, Southwest is expanding to Cancun. I have the desire to fly on Southwest because of how unique it is to other airlines. The only thing that sucks about Southwest is the first come first serve basis when it comes to seating. If you want a specific seat, board in the A group or early stages of the B group. I flew Southwest back in 2015 and that is probably the last time I will ever fly Southwest considering Midway is an hour from us, opposed to O'Hare being 30 minutes away, so it's conveniently located for us to fly out to Vegas every year. Midway is a quiet airport with only 5 airlines, one being Southwest and another being Delta. O'Hare is never quiet even at midnight. Over 20 airlines continue to serve O'Hare including United, Lufthansa, Spirit, American, Cape Air, American, Frontier, jetBlue, Air Canasa, WestJet, and many more. Lambert had been quiet for a long time after TWA went belly-up. Once again, it is nice to see Terminal 2 at Lambert come back to life. I apologize for the longest comment ever! And also, 7:07 Airbus called, they want their engines back.
6:00 to around 6:15 never think I'd see so many Southwest planes there... although it is the morning and the airport has spurts of activity... that's amazing to see 10+ Southwest planes in STL
I flew out of here last week and took a walk down to the newly opened gates (and tested the moving walkway, of course). They were very similar to the other new gates you showed, just more isolated and very uncrowded. A temporary-looking bar and a shop cart were stationed down there as well. At the end, there appeared to be some drywall blockading the D concourse. I'm looking forward to the day you can finally walk between the two terminals just like old times.
These well made short videos are fun because of all the great scenery. Hope you'll go to Indianapolis and see our beautiful new airport which is solar powered.
Nice I've never been inside the Southwest concourse at John Glen International Airport (Columbus International was renamed last year to honor the famous astronaut and senator), but I will be this November when I take my vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico as I am flying there via Southwest.
Can't help but notice that the comical safety announcements have vanished, I used to love the sarcastic pre departure banter, it's kind of like Southwest losing part of it's identity :(
Can I ask which hotel you are staying in?? I go to Columbus all the time and I am thrilled that you are around an hour from my city!!! And some cool places to film the elevator at: The James Cancer Hospital in OSU (Otis Gen2), The Hilton hotel near Polaris Mall (Otis Gen2 Series 4), Hyatt Regency downtown Columbus, Hilton downtown Columbus (Montgomery/Kone), and SpringHill Suites Columbus OSU (Kone EcoDisc). Some cool parking garage elevators: SafeAuto Garage in OSU (8 story scenic ThyssenKrupp Impulse), North/South Cannon Garage in OSU (Otis Series 1) Hope this helps you and I help you enjoy your stay here in Columbus.
CMH went through renovations over the past few years. So it looks a lot better than a couple years ago. Though I'm not a fan of terminal a (Southwest terminal) since it's small and crowded.
I like to see parts of abandoned terminals like this coming back alive, are the gates going to be renamed to be part of the E gates or will they still be called the D gates?
TheDeltaFlyer I agree, and I'm actually a little surprised then didn't. Would be a great opportunity for the airport to brag about reopening D in the local news.
QuarioQuario54321 uhh obviously you haven't been here then. Ohio is one of the most well-rounded states in this country. It has a great balance of entertainment, education, medical, sports, etc, plus it has lots of metropolitan, suburban, and rural areas, plus lots of diverse people.
Awesome video!!!!!! I love Southwest in their new livery!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta love the CFM56! They have one of the best engine sounds especially on the 737 and A320 (Also the GE90 has a killer sound too)!
Aero X Don’t forget the V2500!
That's why I love the front, the engine noise but on a MAX or NEO, I'll listen to the flap noise since the sound of those engines are a little unbearable to listen to after a while
Love seeing life at KSTL again!
Welcome to Columbus!! Glad to have you here in my home town!
Thanks! This was back in May but I enjoyed my 2 weeks. Even though I was stuck working for all but 1 day.
That is awesome
the old southwest planes are gonna retire soon
cool finaly back on southwest again
columbus cooooooool

Looked like a good trip. And can't wait to see the room tour vid, looks great.
Aww man, I REALLY wish I would have knew about you being here sooner, because there are a BUNCH of interesting stuff here I knew you would have loved to see.
This is helpful, I am flying from STL-CMH tomorrow on Southwest and I wanted to know what it was like
Already know this is going to be a good vid!
Finally, a trip report to Cbus! Awesome video, and weclome!
Glad as always to see our KSTL!! I'll be home soon!! Also good to see that some gates are re-opening!
Southwest is doing great things. We have almost every domestic destination that we did back during the TWA days, mostly thanks to them.

5 years later and Southwest are introducing assigned seating
That enough for you to reconsider?
@aviationfan2637 Yeah let's reword this comment...
I will not fly Southwest since corporate greed won over what made customers happy.
I really enjoy your content. It allows me to travel to many different places by proxy. Keep up the good work!
wow... brings me back to the good old days when I used to live in the Columbus metropolitan area. Kinda wish I could go back there again...
6:00 to around 6:15 never think I'd see so many Southwest planes there... although it is the morning and the airport has spurts of activity... that's amazing to see 10+ Southwest planes in STL
STL is turning into a huge base for them. They'll be up to about 120 flights per day early next year.
Southwest Airlines=AMERICA'S FAVORITE AIRLINE!
AMAZING VIDEO!!! Love the Trip Reports!
I love the 737-700 engines

awesome engine noise
One very cool CMH feature is the 20 dollar valet parking. A HUGE advantage if you're running late.
i was in st louis last month on june 21st connecting flights in terminal 2 and yes i was at gates E20 and E33 flying from omaha to ft myers
Nice I've never been inside the Southwest concourse at John Glen International Airport (Columbus International was renamed last year to honor the famous astronaut and senator), but I will be this November when I take my vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico as I am flying there via Southwest.
You came to my home airport! Great video!
Can't help but notice that the comical safety announcements have vanished, I used to love the sarcastic pre departure banter, it's kind of like Southwest losing part of it's identity :(
Kenny Goetz Don't agree. Just flew them. They are still doing the classic SWA safety announcements.
Ahhh ok, I've seen several trip reports lately and they seem to be like everyone else, it's good that they haven't stopped, fly safe :)
Great video 😀👍👍
What's the thing you use for the red line showing your route in the beginning of the video?
Nice vid and to let you know my hometown of Kenosha WI also flooded pretty badly
Welcome to my Hometown!!
welcome to my home town !!!
What,no rental car footage? I enjoy finding out what company and car size you choose as you fly around the US
Jason Moors 1st: He has to rent from hertz. 2nd: He usually always gets compacts. 3rd: This trip he was sharing a rental between his colleagues.
We were splitting a 2017 Camry from Hertz :)
Can't go wrong with that! Having that new car smell is always enjoyable!
Jason Moors Doesn't mean its new.
I only rent from Hertz. Best car rental company IMO.
Can I ask which hotel you are staying in?? I go to Columbus all the time and I am thrilled that you are around an hour from my city!!!

Great music!!
CMH went through renovations over the past few years. So it looks a lot better than a couple years ago. Though I'm not a fan of terminal a (Southwest terminal) since it's small and crowded.
Yeah... Thunderstorms backed everything up when I was leaving. That little terminal gets really crowded really fast when things start to go wrong.
3:16 Hey look there's the Southwest 737-700 in the Missouri One livery
I like to see parts of abandoned terminals like this coming back alive, are the gates going to be renamed to be part of the E gates or will they still be called the D gates?
TheDeltaFlyer They're rebranding them as E gates.
Had a feeling that would happen, it would be cool if they were still called D gates.
TheDeltaFlyer I agree, and I'm actually a little surprised then didn't. Would be a great opportunity for the airport to brag about reopening D in the local news.
For The Gates being reopened. Are the renaming them With E so the match
southwest now has new blue seats in those planes as well
its tough to get an A boarding pass today compared to 5 years ago
what do you use to edit your videos?
YAY YOUR IN MY CITY!!!
And I literally visit that residence inn at least once a week, I only live like a mile from it. Hope you enjoyed your stay!
Patterson Elevators & Films mine too
Patterson Elevators & Films OHIO STATE IS THE WORST,
QuarioQuario54321 uhh obviously you haven't been here then. Ohio is one of the most well-rounded states in this country. It has a great balance of entertainment, education, medical, sports, etc, plus it has lots of metropolitan, suburban, and rural areas, plus lots of diverse people.
I have, and Prefer U of M
the 737-700 at 3:17 had split shimitar winglets, THAT"S REALLY RARE, Nice catch!
Did you get a rental car this trip?
I was splitting one with a few other people (hence why the video cuts out between the airport and hotel).
Looks like the Mississippi River was breached
Correction: You were in 3F, not 3A as subtitled.....
What is the intro music?
Southwest's coach space isn't too generous...but that might just be me.
What's your intro music?
my strategy is find a seat with 3 together not in the front row or emergency exit
I have yet to fly Southwest on their new livery.
This was my first time. I'm now commuting between STL and MCI every 2 weeks on Southwest so I'm racking up those Rapid Rewards points :)
the old southwest airlines liverys are gonna retire soon but i love columbus ohio its so cool there
The Elevator Channel. the old southwest airlines livery is gonna retire soon
yes southwest uses gates there even gate E40
Gerald kenning is a anesthesiologist at Nebraska medical center
St Louis airport is a nice airport i have flown into St Louis for a plane Change
Miss your narration.
I have been to st Louis to change planes southwest airlines
the old southwest airlines planes are gonna on retirement
OMG at 6:10 there's another split shimitar 700, what are the odds
Carter Paulson it isn't rare. I work at KSTL and see them quite often.
William Mercer I frequently spot here at SAN and have yet to see a 700 (Not 800) with this winglet type
That was a -800, there was two window exits on each side.
The one at 3:13 was a -700.
I live in Columbus Ohio
Sad to see Lambert half empty all these years. Had been sixth largest US airport and 18th largest in world before American screwed us over.
I have been to Columbus ohio for a layover
The engine sounds like it threw a rod
