It is easier to use unflavored whey isolates and have a number of extracts, especially for storage. Almost all of the whey protein powders contain soy, so not good for most cancer survivors. Also if you have any MTHFR gene polymorphism, they all contain synthetic folic acid that cannot be metabolized and can build toxicity and possibly be carcinogenic. Good point about the vanilla, I scrape bean pods to add to ice creams then make extract with the pod remainders. I prefer guar gum to xanthum gum but I hear tara gum is the best. I sometimes use milk protein isolates as the 80:20 split of whey to casein would be as found in nature. Definitely dark cocoa powder works best and its fiber content makes for a thicker ice cream. Acacia fiber can help with that as well. Thanks for trying and assessing so many protein powders!

@@LowCalNinja-qf4ye I use Bulk Supplements unflavored whey protein isolate because its only 2 ingredients: whey protein and sunflower lecithin. As a Type 2 diabetic (as well as the other 2 woes cited earlier), there are the fewest carbs in isolates versus concentrates. No, I find some mix better with alternative milks and some are grittier. I liked Isopure's texture the best, for baking as well, if it wasn't for the soy. The flavored ones all contain folic acid rather than methylfolate but they do have some fun flavors don't they. I get fruity cereal extract and toasted marshmallow extract from a company called One-on-One. It's funny, I wish I liked the of flavor of Keto Chow's vitamins and minerals, because they address most of my issues so they really must have done their homework.

I also use Bulk Supplements Whey Isolate and just got my Creami haven't even used it yet. To be honest I just steer clear of any of the flavoured product and have always found frozen local blueberries with Isolate and green powder were sweet enough for shakes. Stevia is also a hormone disruptor and sucralose is no good.. I have a large inventory of flavour extracts that I believe are alcohol extract or distillation (I gotta look into it more) and am curious to see how they perform. Everything from pistachio, chocolate, banana to Meyer lemon with 25 plus options. Not sure if anyone has tried with these type of natural flavor enhancers but the person I buy from is called Flavor Essence.

A good tip i have found. Using a few dates blened up. Adds extra sweetness give a really nice sticky thicker consistency and add a almost toffee like note. Also means you can dial back a bit on artificial sweateners.
This worked very well in a dairy free ice cream i made with coconut milk replacement and coconut flavoured soy protein. It made a big difference for the creaminess and inhanced the coconut flavour. So if you're dairy free of vegan id recommend just for getting a good creamy tast and consistency when you don't want to be adding fats into your diet. Obviously ised xanthume gum still as well

I see they have an Elite Casein. I would avoid that unless you plan to do something like a 1/3 Casein, 2/3 Whey (or other) mix. Since recording this video, I tried some 100% Casein powders and they just tasted dry. I didn't enjoy them on their own, but will be using it in combination with other other powders.

Although you spent only a few seconds on the subject, I found it significant that you encourage your viewers to amend rather unsatisfactory powders to be more compliant with your needs. I do that kind of reinforcement all the time. Playing with recipes is very satisfying. If I make a new recipe that turns out less than I hoped for, I usually remelt it and add something to improve it, like sweetener or flavor. Only thing I can't do is remove an ingredient, but if I feel it has potential, I add enough other ingredients to dilute the effect I don't care for. I find most failures are retrievable in some fashion.
I love all those empty hard plastic containers because I buy a lot of dry bulk foods, and they make the perfect storage containers for them. I agree, though, they do take space. After making my own high-protein ice cream for about a year now, I have found an interesting side effect. I also like to bake, but now I find that the ice cream bumps other desserts off my list. The ice cream is definitely the healthier option. Thank you, Ninja.

maybe the vegan/plant based premade protein shakes would work better? a little more pricey but if it's just for ice-cream then might be worth it

Premier protein's chocolate milkshake is pretty good. Not a big fan of their vanilla though. If they have Dymatize ISO that's a good vanilla.

Here’s all you really need to know…
Leave your ice cream out for 10 mins, use 10 grams of powdered pudding mix or use .005 of xanthym gum by weight, and fill to the max line with protein (yogurt, fair life, or powder) and over sweeten and salt…optional items add extracts.
